AEON Explored
Jul 31, 2015
Very helpful course, I learned a lot. I only used about 5% of Aeon's features before
-Vincent Barth
Very well organized and clear explanations. Looking forward to more courses from the instructor.
-SAM
Such an amazing tutorial! I'm halfway through and have learnt so much already about getting MIDI to sound more realistic! The devil is in the details and this tutorial course has made me aware of how many details there actually are in Creating realism with Virtual Instruments! Well worth the Money and I'm glad I have bought it because now I can instantly rewatch anything I can't remember!
-Jono
Very fun and useful tutorial. If you want to take your mock ups, demos and compositions to the next level join your home studio is a wonderful tutorial. I learned a lot. Thank you Peter

Maschine 2.3 New Features Explored is a great follow up from either of the Maschine 200 level courses on MPV. The information doesn't cover a vast amount of the software, but rather it focuses on the new updates and how they can be integrated into your workflow. I would recommend this course to any Maschine user. the concise tutorials make the time invested in this course worth it considering what skills you get from completing all of the lessons.
-Brock
Booker Edwards Jr. understands how to teach Logic efficiently in such a short time period! Need more tutorials by this trainer.
-Alfredo A.
Great Course.I really like this tutorial..Full of amazing tips and tricks about tecniques for this great editing tool..Another great teaching resource from macprovideo.com!!5 stars!!
-rbpro
Great intro to Maschine 2.0 This is all you need to get going. That being said, I am very much looking forward to learning more.
-Beaucrat
Even though I am a seasoned user of Logic Pro X, this course was one of the most informative Logic courses on Mac Pro. It honed in on a lot of features that I may have overlooked a while back, and also refreshed/cleared up some cloudy areas in which I had forgotten over time. Atlanta Logic Trainer is one of the most informative trainers I have viewed, as he does not cut back on the details.
-spaceprodigi
Loved the tutorial! My band is flying to a gig, and I was unable to take my keyboards (along with about 200MB of custom samples, splits, layers, etc.) Within several days of watching these tutorials, I was able to totally recreate my rig, and create a 20 song playlist. Now I can show up with a laptop, interface, plug into any keyboard, and know I'm good to go. Great job balancing simplicity with technology!! Thanks.
-Tom
This course was great. I came here with the intention of learning more about my DAW, and I did, but I also learned a lot about musical theory. Thanks Gregg and everyone else at MPV. Keep it up.
-Matt
This is a much needed course for those who are new to Logic Pro X. I have purchased quite a few of the tutorials in the Logic series and, while they are very good, they all assume at least some previous knowledge of using the program. While I have been able to figure out a lot from the tutorials and playing around on my own, there were always some very basic things that I had trouble figuring out how to do such as duplicating a track or other equally basic editing functions. I hate wading throug...
-Ivan Dubinsky
Thank you Booker. I have two of your video tutorials , and I find your explanations very clear , easy to listen to, and easy to follow. I'll be looking for more from you in the future.

Maschine Studio: Produce and Perform with Jeremy Ellis is a great practical course for improving your skills as a live electronic performer! All of Jeremy's courses here on MPV are great, some of the most valuable to me so far in my music production workflows. I highly recommend anyone using a pad controller to watch his tutorials, especially for Maschine users.

Having used FCP7 for years on my old Mac Pro, I decided to buy FCPX for my new MBP. I did this on the same day that I had a job come in that I had to turn around in a week. This was a three-camera shoot with several mics (a school musical). Anyway, suffice to say that I was very glad that I had a Mac Pro Video Pro Account because I was able to dip in and out of all Michael Wohl's tutorials and find out just what I needed to know to get up and running. I'm a massive fan of Michael's work....

I found this to be an excellent course. Everything is explained very clearly with plenty of graphics and videos to show exactly how to set things up. I have a nice old (mint) Roland SC-88ST Pro sound module that has been sitting on a shelf that I've wanted to put to good use and now I have the tools to do just that. Thanks, Booker, for a great course. I also bought the advanced course, #114, I believe and it is excellent as well...picks up where this course leaves off. Well done, thanks!!

Session Horns Pro has been a great introduction course covering it's implementation in Kontakt 5. The tutorial covers the overall structure of the software. I would like to see some performance videos or more in-depth information on horns in regards to the perspective and knowledge of a bedroom type music producer. Overall, it did what was expected, and could lead into a great next level course!

I have been using Logic with external midi since the Atari days and have over the years absorbed the changes in midi modules and in logic itself. Recently I have started to integrate my old equipment back into my composing process and I found this course to be really refreshing. Some stuff I knew already, but I also found new approaches via Logic x which I will be able to use. Really well constructed course. I watched it all from start to finish. Clear, concise and accurate. Thank you.
-Simon
Logic Pro X 113: External MIDI Basics has been a great supplemental tool for my current college course which involves using MIDI sample library instruments for creating cues. This is entry-level MIDI knowledge in comparison to how complex some MIDI programming can become. This course covered the foundations of MIDI in Logic Pro X, while including a section on using Maschine within Logic / DAW. I learned some things I didn't know before, and overall, the time I put into this should come back to ...

GREAT Tutorial, as Always!!!
-Anthony
Excellent course with good pacing and clear videos. Very obvious that Michael Wohl knows Motion 5 well. I learn best by working along side the videos and wish there were downloadable lesson files, even at this early stage. Example, lesson 11. Simulation Behaviours, it wasn't stated or shown how the the vertical "Motion 5" was created. Seeing the results I figured it was done with individual text letters instead of a full words. So, that's how I made mine and it worked. Later, I tried it by typin...

What a great course. This is the best drum synth I know of, and it's pretty intimidating to work on, but with this information you will be able to give the first steps with confidence and go beyond simple things. Every time I use it I'm surprised by what it can do, and with this course you will be able too.
-Hindie
The advanced MIDI course on orchestration template techniques is great! I am currently doing the same work using orchestration to sync with video in Logic. This class helped me understand and create more effective templates for better workflow. I recommend it to anyone doing the audio courses on MPV

This is from the best synth tutorials I have ever seen! Great explanations with a very useful info. The author has both an excellent knowledge and a talent in sound design and he is with the synth are a great match! The only thing , which is not in details, is how the numbers in the sequencer related to notes. After all, It's an excellent tutorial for an excellent synth :-)
-EnGee

-Will Humphreys
Easily the best audio-related course I have ever taken. It answered so many questions I had about Logic and about recording in general. The instruction is clear and the instructor is entertaining. (He wants more bong!)
-Brian
I'm usually hyper-critical of tutorials, but Peter Schwartz got this right!! Comprehensive, but easy to follow, I wIsh I'd watched these before wasting time and money on VEP5 "experts." Amazing job.

Well this was much better than expected. I had no idea ST3 was so flexible and useful I just thought it was a massive sample library but Matt shows everything that can be done with it. I certainly was not getting the most out of it. And Matt has a very good style of showing you how things work too.

MIDI Demystified
Jun 21, 2015
This is, by far, the best explanation I have found for MIDI, period. Most books on the subject I've found are very obtuse and most seem to presume previous knowledge of the subject. Not this series of video tutorials, however. Peter Schwartz really knows his subject and he presents it in a very interesting and compelling way. Not too much technical gobbledygook but all the info you NEED in a way you can understand. Personally, I enjoyed the humourous interludes as a way to lighten up a potential...

Finally a fantastic course on the PLAY Engine. This a topic I always wish MacPro Video offered and now they delivered with a superb instructor, David Earl. I really liked how David showed the integration of the PLAY plugin into various DAWs. Thanks
-Thieu Nguyen
OK course - definitely not meant for EDM producers or for new Logic users. MPV should not label this a 100 level course since it assumes the viewer is intimately familiar with Logic's features/functionality.

This is a very good course on Analog and FM Synthesis by Richard Lainhart. He explains the subject very well. The teaching method that he adopts makes it easy to follow and digest. He gives good practical demonstrations with the hardware and the software synths and offers some useful advice too. He also includes some theory which I personally welcomed as it helped me to understand what's happening and it gave me food for thought with Synthesis. Well done Richard and thank you for this. Beginner's Guide
Jun 14, 2015
What a great start. I'm so happy with my choice to ditch the $10,000.00 for production classes, and I was convinced I made the proper decision right from the start of Bill's first lesson. How, why and humor in-between. I've completed the entire class outline, on to 201 and I should have the rest complete in about 6 months (So much content, it's great)!

Hello, I eagerly want to recommend this tutorial for Steve H is just a great instructor. His speech is clear and he does not talk too quickly or too slowly. Everything he explains is well explained and what remains unclear is probably in the next sculpture tutorial. Furthermore, Steve advises when the student should practice by himself. If you want to take this course, you should know that it helps to have some basic knowledge about sound (LFO, ADSR), physical modeling and midi. Thank you Steve,...

These tutorials should be used for EVERY youth that wants to LEARN Music Theory. The efficacy of ability to comprehend and RETAIN information VITAL to creation of meaningful Melodies is extremely high. I am able to recall things I was taught almost 50 years ago, and associate things I picked up over the years with ACTUAL FORMAL Terms, so that I now UNDERSTAND what and WHY I was doing certain thing a certain way: AND WHY they actually worked. This ENTIRE SITE is Awesome, AND these lessons are...

Olav shows great competence and flair, and his instruction is at a really good pace for following along. This video series is great for learning not only hot to replicate various types of drums, percussion, synth and bass elements, but also a very good basis for designing all new original sounds on your own. What also really stands out is that he used 100% Ableton Live built in instruments and effects for everything, and that means if you have Live, you can do this without needing any other pl...

This course caught me up on 3 1/2 decades of being away from any type of formal music training. I ALWAYS retained some basic knowledge of what I learned, but this course has prepared me to CONFIDENTLY go to the next level of information, regarding music theory.

I think my entire audio I.Q. just increased by 400%. The term "demystify" means "to make a difficult or esoteric subject clearer and easier to understand". If there's any tutorial that fits this term, it's definitely this one here. First of all, i have no experience in effects modulation whatsoever. This program came with my Komplete bundle and my only interest in it was that Matt was the instructor. Having just watched his series of Kontakt tutorials and Monark Demystified, i figured i'd watch...

this is a great introduction about motion great job !! i m exited about see the next tutorial. thanks a lot.

Lead Sheet Project

Very good course. I am looking forward to doing the rest. I throughly enjoyed Thomas Goss's orchestration course and was glad to find the Sibelius series. Very very helpful. Thanks!
-AJL
Very good course on Photos. Goes into good detail about all the features and the way it compares to the iOS version as well. I'm sold on Photos now!
-Arthur Spooner
I'm a visual learner, so these video courses are really helpful in explaining how something works. For this particular course, Polyplex has a lot of customization, this course covers all of the aspects of this instrument in detail.
-Dave
I am an experienced bass player / guitar player but nowadays I focus on experimental electronic music. I needed to go back to get some basic progression theory that may be useful to my compositions. This is very helpful basis course. Well put out and I learned a couple of small new things with are very helpful.
-Marky mark
Very good course on Photos. Goes into good detail about all the features and the way it compares to the iOS version as well. I'm sold on Photos now!

Pro Tools 201: Plugins Explored has been a great accompaniment to my Pro Tools 11 Ignite book, and two Pro Tools college classes. I would have liked to see some more advanced or even 3rd party plugins from the Pro Tools cloud store or elsewhere, but this course does cover the standard Audio Suite of plugins very well. Would be interested in a Pro Tools 12 course similar in nature to this one.

Monark Demystified
Jun 8, 2015
Matt does such a good job at translating complexities. I've seen other tutorials on Monark and none of them explained how it works, they only showed what the video-poster does with it. I thought this tutorial was just gonna be a basic overview of Monark but, it's a very detailed breakdown of every function of the instrument. There's no need for Matt to show us what he does with it, even though he educationally does... you'll walk away with knowing how this thing works!
-H2O Atlanta
Very good course on Photos. Goes into good detail about all the features and the way it compares to the iOS version as well. I'm sold on Photos now!

I have a lot of great notes after completing the music business 101-104 courses on MPV. The synchronization license workarounds in the industry and information that isn't necessarily textbook material is what I think makes this course worth your time. There is definitely more ground to cover, and an advanced business course series would be a great addition to the business content on MPV.

Kontrol Explored
Jun 7, 2015
I picked up a new Kontrol S61 and was amazed at how much it can do.... After a few minutes with this course I have gone beyond amazement into a new level of reality. This is some metaphysical trip that has propelled me beyond this plane ! Excellent !

Rhythm
Jun 6, 2015
Excellent, excellent course. Rhythms are the foundation of the music I produce (electronic) and this course reinforced things I knew and highlighted things I didn't know or fully understand. An essential for all electronic music producers just starting out or those who are looking for some inspiration. 10/10

Advanced Kontakt 5
Jun 6, 2015
Man, i know so much and so little at the same time right now. So much more than i knew yesterday and so little in comparison to what i'll know after i've applied these courses to how i'll use Kontakt. I really love the 6 tutorials in the "Using Instruments to their Fullest" chapter. I think a lot of people would revisit these engines if they thought of them the way you've explained. I've gotta go make some music right now, be back for more courses tonight!
-H2O Atlanta
Peter Schwartz is a master teacher. He ernes 5 stars because I believe he has a deep and broad perspective, combined with practical implementations ready to use practices and workflow. Combined with other courses such as orchestral moods I witnessed my growth as a composer and songwriter grow exceeding my expectations. My end product film scores and songs have higher artistic value depth and maturity than even before. A must take course. If I may suggest more exercises and small now do this ...
-Itzhak Yaron
Great course. Helps get the lead out ! Gave me enough information to start laying down some of the ideas I have floating around in my head... thank you very much ask video people

Music Business 103: PRO's may be the most valuable informational business course MPV has to offer. The information presented is highly relevant to any artist or publisher, especially up-and-coming musicians. There are visual additions included for all the mathematical splits that would otherwise be dry material if taken in from a text book. I highly recommend this course to anyone involved in the music industry!
-Brock Harris
I just bought the Maschine Studio last month and I've never used Kontakt/Komplete until now. Everything on the interface was so foreign to me that it all looked like something i'd never learn to use. But this course put me so far in the know that I'm nowhere near lost anymore. I really appreciate how the instructor gives a quick but very informative run through, on how to use a lot of the Kontakt instruments. I'm about to watch the Advanced Course right now!
-H2O Atlanta
Beside being a great player and musician, Jordan keeps on exploring new ways of musical expression. This is a good example. Nice tutorial.
-Hindie
This is really good course that covers almost all the instruments and their parameters in Live. I've been using Live for a while now and there were a couple of instruments I had never looked into. The ones that aren't covered in this course are covered in Olav's other courses in great detail. Recommended watching for all Live users!

This is great to get me going with keyboard shortcuts and other tricks that will increase the creative process, by reducing what I have to think about to use the program

I have had Reason for many years and I have been able to do some decent things with it, but I never felt like I was getting my moneys worth. This tutorial reinforces things I already knew, and re-energizes my belief that I can go to much higher levels of creativity with this program.

Excellente tutorial! Full of awesome techniques that will make your music sound new and interesting. Rishabh is a great tutor, and very easy to follow. The demos song is amazing. Looking forward to part 2 of this tutorial… maybe?

Steve delivers yet again! Well rounded tutorial!! We're talking about circles not squares!
-Julian V!
Nice overall explanation of this version of Cubase. Many nice features and improvements in one of the best daw's around. Check it out.
-Hindie
A good course. Learned a lot. He explained things well usually, although sometimes his explanations were a little incomplete and I had to go to the web to find out exactly how something worked. He was mildly annoying in the beginning, but that improved, so stick with him if you're a little annoyed at his style in the first couple of videos because this improves a lot.
-john
Michael Wohl does an excellent job in conveying his knowledge of cinematography, in a fun and inspiring course. I get a kick out of the fact that after watching this course, I now know (and could even explain) the what the really cool term "zolly" means. Cheers Graham.
-Graham Berry
Music Business 102 with Paul Bissell is the perfect follow up to the introductory 101 course. Some of the concepts presented here were complex. I needed to pause or go over parts of tutorials more than once due to the detailed intricacies of certain business scenarios involving money. I recommend this course and looks forward to seeing what Music Business 103 has to offer!
-Brock
Great beginner's course on the music business industry. The current business and copyright class I am taking uses a book that covers many of these same concepts. This is not only a supplement to that reading, but the visual aspect with MPV courses helps solidify the information even further. Looking forward to the following courses.
-Brock
This course is eye-opening. By constructing different sounds, you learn general principals of picking oscillators, adjusting the filter, how to create an attack, and more. You also learn how to create a lot of special effects. I feel like I really understand sound design. Thanks for the course!
-Rich
Great Course! Explanations are very clear. Great examples are used. I learned a lot!

Another lesson filled with "Meat." This Second tutorial is allowing me to create and edit a musical as I am watching it. I had FD7 for over 13 years and never felt confident to use it event once. I am using FD9 within 24 hours of purchase, thanks to this tutorial. ALSO: The information about protecting your scripts is very useful as well.
-William K Marshall
I learned so much from Jonathan. He taught at perfect pace and helped me learn the tricks to editing audio with less steps. I loved the marquee select tool to work in conjunction with the automation edits. Such a huge time saver instead of adding four points manually to control volume. I definitely will not forget that tip. Now I am ready to work on my voiceover for my video project. Thanks for an awesome course!
-Mark
This was an informative and effective course to get anyone started using Final Draft right away. I feel empowered to "Get Started," using the program; Which IS the ONLY way to begin to get better.

If you've never seen a console like this action - this course is great. It goes over all the functions in detail and then follows up with examples. I really liked the last tutorial that tours a small project studio mixer.

Hooked on Racks!
May 28, 2015
Wow is all I have to say. I had no clue you could take ableton this deep with racks, even the first half of the course goes deep into sound design, much like massive or Absynth, but it then goes much deeper with parallel processing, or creating racks within racks. I will definitely be building a "megarack" to see what kind of things I can accomplish with it. This course can be frustrating at times, so I suggest taking it slowly, to digest what is going on throughout the entire thing. Thank you
-IAN
Live DNA!
May 28, 2015
This course was fantastic, and covered a lot of ground on small features I would usually overlook, it boosted my confidence when looking at simple clip view on the bottom of the page in ableton. Before, these features like launch modes and follow actions just looked like a bunch of boxes, but now i understand the features, whether i choose to use them or not. They generate a lot of variation which can be desirable in some peoples productions. Thanks!

May 27, 2015
Another clear and concise, well formatted course from this instructor. I enjoy that each video was relatively short, because they were all packed with a good bit of info, and it helped me to digest things by having a spare 5 or 10 seconds in between techniques and ideas. Thank you for another great course sir!

I enjoy Matt Vanacoro every time he makes a tutorial. Thank you very much!! Sometimes it is simple things he explains, but he always get around all the corners of a program. Even though Photo seems simple Matt Vanacoro shows things I hadn't seen and thought of!! I'm happy with Photo now, actually I love it - so much better than iPhoto (now that I know how it really works) Matt Vanacoro - you are a star with tutorials

I really enjoyed this course and all the others in the Audio Concepts series. I've been dabbling in digital recording for years but never really had a true understanding of the fundamentals but these course changed all that. The Simpler Sampler
May 25, 2015
Thank you Laura! I had no idea the simpler sampler went this deep and had that many capabilities, it appears pretty small and straight forward when you open it, but I now realize it can go much deeper when I feel the need to wander down the sound design/sculpting hole, outside of other plug ins that do the same. Great ways to really find some original sounds, and the multi sample trick is too cool! Great course!
-Ian
Thank you so much, I recently switched from Logic Pro X to Ableton Live, and the stock FX plug-ins are vastly different than in logic, even though the same signal, technical ideas are the same. This really helped me grasp where all the extra envelopes, LFOs, and Filter EQ's were coming from on all these plugins and how you can use them to your advantage. Ableton FX seem to have a bit more control and fluidity than the stock logic ones. You explained things clear and concise, and I did not have t...

Another solid and informative Cubase course. This one is basically a remake of the same course for Cubase version 7 but that's totally okay as they need updating as the software evolves. This one is entry-level, explaining basic operations so for your first Cubase course I'd recommend to start here.

Core iWeb '11

A nice explanation of all the features in iWeb. A clean and simple way of making your own site, and update it.

Fantastic course, really useful information and a must for any artist thinking about releasing their work!
-Neil
Nice for starting, clip launcher examples should be more explored, how to continue recording from a point in arrange in clipper launcher for example... But really nice tutorial.

Every couple of months, I get excited about Maschine all over again. These updates are so rad.

This is a very good course for going through the new features in Maschine 2.3. Matt does a great job as usual1

KONG: King of Drums
May 18, 2015
As usual with Mo Volan's tutorials, both clear and exhaustive. One technical issue though - the videos seem to be full of 'dead spots' which cause the video player to crash. You have to refresh and scroll directly to a point in the video past them to continue to watch.
-Simon
I enjoyed watching this course. Matt knows this instrument, and explained its capabilities well. Thank you!
-Derry Etkins
Excellent course and well presented. Great material and very helpful. The section with changing emotions and no melody was eye opening. Nice job!

Sonic Dimension by Greg Townley has been a great follow up to the MPV Home Studio acoustics and studio construction courses. The mix workflow that Greg presents is similar to the workflow that I have been learning in my current college mixing course. I am looking forward to the Sonic Dimension: Expanded class, which should elaborate on intermediate/advanced techniques for the concepts presented in these tutorials.

Even after years of using Sibelius, I learned a lot from Thomas' video. More than just a "how to", this is also a "why to". Well worth the price and the time.

Advanced Melodyne
May 13, 2015
Advanced Melodyne 201 was a good follow-up to the introduction course. The sections in the course emphasized different workflows for audio editing in Melodyne that wouldn't be covered in the manual or a traditional walkthrough. This has been a great supplement to my current audio workstations class where I am using Melodyne in Pro Tools for vocals and other instrument audio files.

Meant for those who seek a summary overview of ProTools recording functions and how to access control.

Advanced Audio Editing by Joe Albano is perfect for anyone exploring the basic concepts on how to use the different programs associated with modern DAW's. The course included a lot of intermediate to advanced information and ideas pertaining to this subject field for a music producer. I like this course a lot and would welcome further advanced audio editing courses.

The Oscillator
May 12, 2015
Great introductory overview with some neat tips. The volume balance between the voiceover and the synth in some videos could be a little better though - I found myself continually turning the volume up and down to avoid blasting my housemates with piercing tones!
-Simon
Another Great Course given by Micheal...Taking difficult concept and making it a bit easier..
-Jean Claude Veille
If you know nothing or just a bit about mastering, this course will tell how to start to open your ears, to detail. Many tricks and a simple way to start mastering your own music. Detail is everything in this "black magic art".
-Hindie
I really love the course. Sometimes I am wondering why it is a 201 because Richard goes down into the basics like the 101 course of the Bob Moog Foundation but it adds up to a nice repetition and therefore helps to grasp some basics that are necessary to memorize for later chapters. The extensiveness of this course is "insane" and it really covers so many bases. Nice job and thank you for making this wonderful tutorial Richard.
-Martin
I am a big fan of Jim Pavett's courses here on MPV. This class has contained the most amount of information on a topic of any courses that I have completed so far. So many of these lessons contain solid fundamentals of being a music producer or engineer, I wouldn't recommend anything to improve this course except to include any more useful studio concepts just like these. Given the amount of content already provided, this isn't a problem.
-Brock
Even though I don't record live drums, I found this course very helpful. The editing processes will translate to other stuff I record. I thought the presenter does a great job, informing with enthusiasm and never patronising the viewer. I hope he does more Cubase courses.
-Kwackman
Excellent. A thorough and intelligent overview of game audio. Highly useful

Animating Text
May 10, 2015
Great series of videos....Micheal does an excellent job taking a very difficult concept and dissecting it "gently" and "precisely" to able the student to understand some complex features. One suggestion is for these courses to be more interactive and to have the student sit in front of a computer and practice as Micheal goes through the lesson. I did it and it help me a lot.....
-JeanClaud Veille
The String Section
May 10, 2015
This course was very well outlined. It was set up very similar to my college orchestration class, but in a much clearer way. The use of multiple different recordings and professional musicians was an awesome supplement to this course. You even went above and beyond with the amazing resource files you created to help with continual study. I cannot thank you enough!

Core Melodyne
May 8, 2015
Melodyne 101 Core Melodyne is the perfect entry course for this software. I am currently learning this in an audio workstations class, and this tutorial covered the features more in depth during about an hour than what was covered in a few hours in my class. Not only is this a supplement to learning, but it is a great foundation for the creative possibilities Melodyne has to offer in your production work.

Second tutorial with Eyal Amir (I also did his new Cubase 8 course). I really like him. And, as was the case with his previous course, this one was very useful. Moreover, you can apply much of these lessons to other aspects of music composition. Again, I hope to see more from Eyal and particularly courses using Cubase 8. I will return to a this tutorial for refreshers. Cheers Eyal.

Outside the Box - Vocal Production and Arranging is a great starting course for covering studio techniques and musical ideas in relation to vocal production. Looking forward to the more advanced courses and what they have to offer!

Perhaps the best Ableton course I've enjoyed so far. I have tonnes of things to explore and look into now. Good course! Even though I have been using the Mac for so many years, I always learn something new watching tutorials like these. Awesome job!

A very solid overview on the history of synthesizers, as well as how sound works, and a brief brush on the different components and types of synthesis. As someone who has some experience with synthesizers, some of the information was a little redundant to me, but all in all, it is well worth the time to watch.

I watched the previews, bought & downloaded the course & then went out and bought a Volca Beats. Great tutorial that also serves magnificently as a user manual as the actual manual as provided by Korg is a very poor document indeed. The short bite-sized videos are direct & straight to the point. Can't wait for further tutorials in the Volca series.

Thank you for a great teacher ! It was very interesting and exciting

Exploring Kontakt 5
Apr 27, 2015
Fundamentally a good course. It overviews the basic features of stand alone features. He sometimes mentions things without really explaining them, and occasionally his explanations are a little confusing. But, overall, he gives a lot of good information. No discussion of how to use Kontakt as a plugin.
-John
Another great EAR course! A good insight into the workflow that goes onto producing a club track. Especially good tips on the use of delays with synths and EQing for a clean mix.
-Arthur Spooner
Nothing is every prefect. I really like Olav, he's easy to listen to and maintains my interest. I will watch this one more than once just to soak in the subtle things you get from watching someone show you something! More OLAV!

Editing In Motion
Apr 27, 2015
A lot of editing can be made with motion, and this course will take you on that path. It was great to watch this one. On to the next in this series.
-Hindie
Very nice course. Information presented clearly. I especially liked that he gave me time to listen to the same part of the same track several times, one mastered one way, the other another, so I could hear the difference.
-John
Rishabh Rajan is one of the great MPV course instructors! This is probably my fifth or sixth course that he conducted. I appreciate the speed of workflow and knowledge that is given in this tutorial. After going through and creating all the presets as I watched the videos, I understood the interface and it's parameters quicker than if I did this all by myself.
-Brock
Great course! All of the techniques were really well explained! I did not like the video footage used for the examples (the pirate with the one eye and skull and bones)

A really great course. Very clear and easy to understand. This gives me a very good starting point to pursue these topics.
-John
this series of courses is amazing! I'm happy there is information like this on the internet nowadays; concise, clear courses like this one just makes you want to learn more. there you go Joe Albano and MacProVideo team! greetings from Brazil.

Animating Effects
Apr 26, 2015
Another step towards mastering this program. Great course, with very important and useful information. It's time to make all those things move.
-Hindie
Another amazing course in this series. Particles and replicators really open up the possibilities and turn them into endless possibilities. A very good explanation on how this type of animation works.
-Hindie
Great course. It's nice to see a course on a stand alone hardware instrument for a change of pace. I hope we get to see some courses on the rest of the Volca family!

Animating Text
Apr 25, 2015
Loving this set of courses about Motion. All the possibilities of animation just with text is amazing.
-Hindie
Excellent course on the Volca Beats that covers every parameter including integration with external DAWs and creative tips on getting cool sounds.
-Arthur Spooner
I am glad that the first MPV course on synthesis covers creating music electronically. The historical timeline of synthesis machine progress is good information to understand. I feel like knowing the basics of synthesis is as fundamental to my role as a music producer as knowing music theory. Looking forward to the more advanced synthesis courses!
-Brock
Great course on vocal techniques in the production environment! The first half of the course went through some basic principles on vocal warmups and singing techniques. The second half contained more demonstrations and advanced techniques through workflows like looping. The latter videos seemed to skip and play abruptly, which the earlier course videos and other courses on MPV have not done. I would welcome another course that went into vocal tracking and how these basic vocal skills work direct...
-Brock
Outside the Box: Producing Bass Lines is a course designed to give you perspective on how a bass player develops their musical expression when writing music. The approach seems practical, since there are many examples that show musicians playing the techniques that are explained in each tutorial. I would recommend this type of class for other instruments and roles involved in the collaborative music making process.
-Brock
Great course! Very informative! Simple enough to learn quickly, and easy to see the complexities that are possible.
-Neil
Inside Info
Apr 23, 2015
EAR202: Inside Info by Miro Pavic covers a lot of good information on how to improve production skills in the Ableton environment. The drum section was in-depth, I would have liked to see that amount of detail with the other sections synthetic sounds, but it was good nonetheless. Looking forward to more tutorials within the EAR series!
-Brock
Pro Tools 301 by Rishabh Rajan covers techniques that will improve your workflow within this DAW environment. I like that it starts out covering quick keys, then moves on to using different areas of the program. Seeing what other people are doing when they are trying to achieve a certain speed or effectiveness at producing helps improve my skills as a producer. This is a good amount of information for all the material that is covered.
-Brock
Beat Detective
Apr 22, 2015
Beat detective is a powerful, yet occasionally confusing tool. There are many ways its functionality can be applied to music production and this tutorial covers them all in detail - accompanied with examples. There is so much practical information to absorb that I plan to revisit the whole lesson….possibly several times!
-Karl Schenk
I starting using Pro Tools on a daily basis this month. With previous DAW experience, and this Pro Tools 11 tutorial, I have been able to transition more seamlessly into using this product. I would recommend adding a higher level Pro Tools course with this exact same layout, given that Pro Tools has many other relevant features that were not covered in this course. Good work MPV!
-Brock
The EAR 104 course from Tilt was a video overview of the techniques that were involved in creating the song "Falling Again". I give it 4 stars because it doesn't get in depth over advanced production techniques, but rather, it's a workflow guide for making a professional dance track.
-Brock
Sonic Combustion
Apr 21, 2015
Good overview on workflow and interaction between hardware and software components. Some good tips about mixing and mastering techniques. Overall I found this tutorial touches the surface with some good tips. Would love to see an in-depth tutorial on how Billy sculpts his sounds.
-A Spooner
Great introduction to orchestration and film scoring compliments other videos such as enhanced realism By Schwartz. Teacher takes you slowly step by step and gives a methodical process that expanded my composition. I ma a song writer and realized the importance of the 5th Beatles in any mix... I am watching this SLOWLY implementation is the key. Can't wait for more chapters of this valuable yet not too analytical approach.

Sonic Combustion
Apr 19, 2015
The Electronic Artist's Revealed series never fails to impress me! Billy Dalessandro's Sonic Combustion is another unique tutorial that focuses on the workflow of the music producer. His flexibility when it comes to exploring creative techniques is refreshing. This focus on the intangible processes of music making are just as important as music theory or production techniques.
-Brock
It's always an honor to see how other producers and composers write their music and shape their sounds. A very good insight on how a track is made from start to finish.

Xtreme Sound Design
Apr 19, 2015
As Trainer shows us, turn off track header's Flex icon and leave Flex icon on, play and hear the shorter part of the Loop. We get the effect on each Flex Mode's effect on the Loop. This is very time saving technique to get to know the difference of Flex Mode as well as how it sounds.

A nice course based on live, but with some useful tips even if you are using another daw. It was nice to watch.

Great tutorial with some very good practical advice on how to set up templates for sketching a composition, through to full production templates. As someone who has had VE Pro for some time but has always been confused by metaframes, vframes, instances etc., and how to configure outputs, I found the clear simple explanation of how VE Pro works to be worth an entire year's subscription to Mac Pro video!! Thank you Peter.

Apr 16, 2015
Definitely worth watching to get a grip on the basics, but for anyone looking to use Kontakt professionally- or for serious projects- you 100% need to make sure you follow this up with the 201 course. I learned more from the first 2 videos of that course on how to optimize my system for working with audio than i have from nearly 3 years of mindlessly browsing youtube videos and google searches. 20 bucks is a very small investment for a much more stable future in audio editing. Hi Ben: As a long time member of Lynda.com it is my pleasure to tell you that your Final-cut Pro X is the best course I have ever taken on line. I came in with a "missing-file" problem on a project for a client and your explanition of how Final-Cut stores Data was easy to understand, (even for a novice) and set me on the path to recovery. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Lead Sheet Project
Apr 7, 2015
Thomas Goss has constructed an easy to understand comprehensive beginner's tutorial. This is a truly gifted teacher, comfortable in the medium of video tutorials. I only wish I could have found the supplementary, yet essential materials he outlined in the tutorial (The Greensleeves pdf etc.) supposedly on the "Sibelius Product page of macProVideo.com." Alas, I could not find it! Other than that, really great for me.
-Laine Griffith
This is what i really love: good explanations and demonstrations. Funny and super cool presenter. This course makes really fun to watch and also to learn more and get practicing. :) Thumbs up!!!!! Excellent.

Good stuff! Would have been nice to see a list of the stuff going into the budget and all the equipment installed presented on the screen somehow. Liked the documentary style!

Remix Revelations
Apr 6, 2015
Nice Course! I learned a lot - got many tips - but still need to watch that course again. Also nice: the track that is being remixed in this course is really catchy - you will recognize it if you have been interested in house music around 2001.

Editing is my favourite thing to do in movies. This course is very interesting, and I learned many things about iMovie and editing.

Harnessing Chaos
Apr 5, 2015
Noah Pred's course on Harnessing Chaos is a great supplement to any music producer's toolbox. The concepts are unique and the tutorials are on point. Reasons are given as to what these techniques are and how each person can interpret them for their own creative uses. Would recommend this course to anyone creating music.
-Brock
I learned a lot from this course, not just about iMovie but also some concepts about editing. It was fun to watch and I have a bigger knowledge about editing movies, after watching this.

A great explanation of the iMovie interface and how to deal and organize your footage. I really enjoyed watching this course, it made everything very clear for me.

I entered the Cubase world with Cubase Pro 8. This tutorial is for an older version of Cubase but I had to come back to this tutorial of an older version to learn the MIDI features in the current version of Cubase. I found it well worth coming back here to watch this older version MIDI training. I'm a recent Pro Tools refugee and this tutorial, and Cubase blow me away at what can be done with MIDI, where Pro Tools 12 still doesn't have a clue beyond simple sequencing. Absolutely amazing what...

I really like Eyal Amir. I hope he does more Cubase course. He is, like me a total music geek, but also so charismatic. Better still, he gives very practical course. I learned a lot... Even though I do not record live drums, this course was very useful. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because, it do not record live drums. Again, I hope Eyal does more Cubase courses... I will definitely tune in.

Live Performance
Apr 3, 2015
This is a basic 100 level course on using Ableton Live to perform music in a live setting. The course covers interesting concepts, and it's one of the only tutorials on MacProVideo for live performance. I would have liked to see a live demonstration of these concepts added, but there is a good amount of material you can use to add to your creative arsenal.

BFD3: Demystified
Apr 3, 2015
This didn't feel like a "course", it felt more like peeping over someone's shoulder while they prepared and executed a mix. The information was presented in a very logical sequence; very important for a new user like me. Thank you!
-Derry Etkins
Just did this course. This is just sick. I just learned so much in 2 hours working well actually 3 with beers and going to the restroom. But my tracks going to sound so much more cleaner just loved it. Thank you for this i just can not express in words how happy i am with this

Most of us started in a band a while back. Technology was not so developed. It was nice to watch. It´s not easy being and working in a band.
-Hindie
Nice introduction into audio for games. I think to start with a video game history is really smart. Lots of examples for suitable moods. I am more interested in the first few chapters, cause the last ones are getting to much in detail and for me as a non game audio designer not so relevant.
-n4Sphere
Fantastic course. It's a lot of work to score anything, but the basic concepts are here. Vey useful information, it really gave me a perspective on how to do this.
-Hindie
This would be better if the notes were displayed on a keyboard rather than on a staff. Most of us know the notes on the keyboard but do not read music. Somebody should start doing music theory for those of us that do not read music. In fact of all the DJ/producers I know - NONE read music.
-Today's Electronic Producers
Great course. Very practical and each new feature has a practical example with it. Thanks. Great job.
-jcvroseville@yahoo.com
This is a great and very complete course. Jordan is a great musician and teacher. It's worth watching even if you are not a keyboardist. Watching just once isn't enough, lot's of information to absorb.

Very nice course about the basics of film scoring moods. It helps to understand how music for media born with really little effort. In any case you have to be a quite well trained musician to understand and get practise with these topics. I found the course an essential introduction, maybe too short and to simple for advanced composers.

10.1 In-Depth
Mar 30, 2015
Excellent Overview Course. Particularly helpful for those that haven't had time to take all of the individual modules previously. I certainly know a lot more about drummers than I did before! Very much appreciated the highlighted (Orange Bar) messages. They're a bit like buying a used textbook that was previously owned by an A+ student. To a certain extent, the highlight messages cause the student (well, me anyway) to pause or pause/repeat in order to process all the information being given...
-Xabukye
This course is a good overview of all the delay and reverb effects. The difference between flanger, phasing and chorus are not so huge and it was a little boring for me. But other then that, really informative. Thumbs up.

Serum: Explored
Mar 30, 2015
Another excellent tutorial by Rishabh Rajan! I just love his style and voice... You can tell he as true hero of the synth world :-) I will be looking for his stuff, every time new synths or updates are released. I just love how he breaks down all of the complex stages of the serum synth and covers all the basic operations and details of this very advanced synthesizer!
-FadedShadows
This course works well on setting the ground needed to do dialogue editing. The first half takes up the pre-preparation which really is a necessity. The second half on how to actually work with the dialogue in waveforms is probably the most comprehensive I have seen. It consolidated almost 2 years of school I went to into a four hour course. It's that good!
-Jim McDonnell
That's how it should be down. Excellent explanations of EQs, compressors and mixing. Nice examples and good overall structure. First theoretical background then in use practicing. "Thumbs up"
-n4Sphere
This course covers not only game audio, but also a little bit of gaming history. It offers an overview of what should be considered and not how to produce the perfect game score. There's plenty of historical and theoretical background to get motivated why game audio can be your step into business. Great!!
-n4Sphere
David Earl is a fantastic teacher. He explains things very well and I had no trouble following along. It seems like this course is missing videos at the end. He only showed how to make pretty bell and brassy tones; I know this synth is capable of doing a lot more such as heavy electronic complextro and dubstep sounds.
-Zekagiu
Brilliant! As a Cubase user, and for anyone looking to understand edit techniques, this course is invaluable. And Ayal is always a treat to watch. Thanks MPV for another great Cubase tut. Please keep them coming. Cheers.

Almost everything you need to know about how sound travels, and how to maximize your listening and working environment. I recommend this course to anyone who wants to mix, even in difficult conditions.

Mar 24, 2015
This is the last video of the moog series and this video is one of the better ones. Bottom line: it is okey. I expected something different with a little bit more education, not just explaining how the synth works. But on the other hand it is cool to see these old beauties in action.
-n4Sphere
This course has been ideal for an introduction to setting up a home studio at my house. Jim Pavett is one of the most impressive instructors for MacProVideo, and there is no shortage of them. The course outlines basic home and commercial studio knowledge, which looks to pick up in the next course on studio construction!

So-far so good, I got a building foundation started of design and equipment, a concept to build around and some fire. I'm just hoping that the industry will circulate more money wise as in paying loan's and interest plus receiving them in fast timing just to stir up the gift more while also though not forgetting to appreciate the now.... Thank You Ask Video....

Course is quick and concise. However, VCA definition isn't found in Logic Help, isn't found in the course itself, and had to be looked up on the www - where it was found in reference to Pro Tools. Since the "Define VCA" question looks a bit like a trick question (ie, "Amplification" - or - "Automation" ? Hmmmm) it would be best if this abbreviation is spelled out slowly and clearly - that is - tell us what the definition means -- and why knowing that matters. The VCA concept is related to ...

Massive: Essentials
Mar 21, 2015
This 200 level Massive tutorial act more as an introductory 100 level course into Native Instruments Massive software. This course gives you a great outline on how to interact with Massive when synthesizing your new sounds. Would have liked to see more in-depth coverage on parameters and sound design. Looking forward to the 300 level Massive Dubstep course to specifically cover this area.
-Brock
I really enjoyed this course, and i finally understand a lot better this synth. Have it for a while, but now I'm gonna use it more, for sure. I would like Dave to make a part 2 of this, because I feel there is still a lot to explore. Thank you.
-Hindie
Very nice tips and easy to follow. Makes you life a little easier when it comes to Dialog Editing.
-Jonathan Plowpie
Probably one of the best and most complete mixing courses available. I know Dave since the sflogicninja on you tube, and he knows everything about logic. A lot of useful and important information here. You shouldn't miss this one, if you're serious about mixing.
-Hindie
This course offers a lot more than expected for encoding videos. The depth of detail is great and explained well. Covers more than enough on formats and delves into the settings for best practical usage. Highly recommended watch.

Olav really has a way of explaining things clearly - this course has everything I was looking for, and he clearly demonstrated the how's and why's of the most common production techniques. Although he uses Ableton Live 9, it doesn't matter what DAW you're using, because of the way he explains the purpose of each effect - the plug-ins will vary from DAW to DAW, but the principle remains the same.

The Filter
Mar 19, 2015
Lots of examples and sound demos. But a little bit to long for me. It's easy to get board when you hear over and over again the same sound. The content is good, but also here i expected something different. I miss the interactive learning part. This kind of video can benefit from dynamic cuts.
-n4Sphere
This is the first "technical audio" video I fully understand. The author describes all the key topics really easy and I as a non musician can understand it. The video is really nice arranged with sound examples, waveforms etc. This is by far the best video series I have ever seen on macprovideo.com. 10STARS

A nice course about mastering. A do it yourself approach, well suited for the EDM producer as well for any other genre. It's all about using the information well.
-Hindie
Even if you have a later version of Logic this is one of the best tutorials for really understanding the tools for Mastering. Highly recommend for anyone who finds the compressors, limiters and EQ daunting.
-Kurt Weber
These tutorials are an excellent jumpstart for me, very informative and easy to follow along!
-Thunder Rod
This tutorial is an absolutely AMAZING!!! The Hot Keys section alone is priceless. Kudos to Rishabh Rajan and MPV, for creating this extremely valuable tutorial.

Mixing EDM Tracks

Great mixing course. To mix you need a solid foundation and advanced tech knowledge. Here, you'll find both.
-Hindie
Solid slow deliberate delivery. Covers all bases for brushes, vectors, transform. I need to practice the "pen" tool. but very powerful.

I was not keen on devoting $50 and 76+ minutes to yet another software product that would divert me from more pressing matters, but I am glad I did. I had seen this type of product reviewed before, and the verdict was usually, "good idea but needs more work to make it really useful" This course dealt with the strengths, weaknesses and work-arouds for those weaknesses The real test for such a course is, "can you apply it in your own work practices"? I am glad to say it has accelerated my learning...

The EAR series are really a fresh approach and shows all the secretes i did not know or never thought about it. The whole video covers in detail drums and how to tune them. The effect chains are so useful and you can really hear a huge difference with just 2-3 plug ins. Also worth mentioning the stereo widening tipps. Thumbs up really good one!

Concise, no waffle and straight to the point overview of iZotope's Iris. A well constructed video forming a great introduction to Iris and ideal for those new to the audio processing synth/sampler.

The beginning really feels like a commercial for Guitar Rig put out by the company. Then it goes into pitching how wonderful all of the paid for add ins are. But once you got past that, it had some good information.

Core Omnisphere
Mar 14, 2015
Initially concerned that the Live chapters were going to skirt around the programming of Omnisphere, I need not have worried. I particularly appreciated how this course didn't really require any prior synth concepts and programming knowledge to understand how to program Omnisphere. A great introduction to this synth.

Sound Recording
Mar 14, 2015
Another great course covering all the essentials in good, useful detail. I really enjoyed the chapter about Analogue and Digital conversion - it's an example of the sort of stuff you kind of know about - but this course gives you the full picture.
-A Spooner
Great Project, very informative! I really enjoyed this, and it was interesting to see your workflow. The only thing I would have liked to see was more specifics and explanations on your recording setup and mixing, specifically, what mic pres, what hardware on the front end, what compressor and eq on vocals, what processing did you do on bass. You guys do good work, and the track sounded WAY better than I thought it was going to!
-Chris
Very useful information about drums and bass. I think it's time for a second series, with all the new updates, and some fresh creative ideas. I enjoyed watching this :)
-Hindie
Very clear and informative rundown of newest features in Cubase. Highly recommended for everyone updating to version 8.
-Pecchan
Fantastic course. I studied Gary's Secret Composer (which I keep referring to) and this Mac Pro course (delivers the materials in a fresh way. This is more than just a course on creation of moods. The beauty of this course lies in seeing Gary in action and to learn orchestration secrets from this master of orchestration. If you want to buy just 1 course from Macpro video, let this be it!
-Nima Ranjbar
Peter's Score Editor tutorial was a masterpiece of thoroughness, simplicity and humor! Like Steve H, Peter brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his tutorials and they are produced to make complex subjects easy to understand and adds a quirky sense of humor to keep it from getting too dry. This one is a worthy successor to his Score Editor masterpiece and has easily saved me YEARS of learning by other means. Great job again, Ski!
-airforceguitar
A great overview of the new features of Cubase 7.5 Even though the program is now at version 8, this tutorial covers many things not included in other tutorials. Recommended!
-Pecchan
Kudos to Mike Watkinson, for this very informative tutorial. I found the techniques to be incredibly valuable, in saving time and trouble shooting, when loading sessions from other artist or producers. It's great to be able to have my own custom I/O setup, that I can import, when working on outside projects.

Mo's is definitively one of my favorite teacher! Always easy to follow, understand and very dynamic. Direct to key point, no waste of time. I highly recommend this course.
-Dan
This is one of the best video/course of Maschine i have ever seen. Really detail break down of Jeremy Ellis Routine. Useful information is schon next to the actual recording - and is really helpful. Also Jeremy speaks really good with lots of real impressions and bridges from topic to topic. This is really a long video. I highly recommend it watching it not at once. It is too much content and I got tired. Other then that absolute recommendation also for non Maschine users!
-n4Sphere
I like the way Jordan Rudess presents this course. You can easily see his background as a keyboard. His really rocking the Push. Good introduction of how to use Push as an instrument with lots of musically parts.
-n4Sphere
This 300 level MIDI Orchestration course is the perfect addition to the 100 level courses offered here on MPV. The tutorials offer beginner to advanced tools and concepts of improving your MIDI orchestration. The thing is, these ideas in MIDI can be translated to other types of music production programming. I would recommend this course to any music producer, even people who don't particularly use this type of musical material in their projects.
-Brock
I always like to see how a song is born from scratch and follows all the steps until the final product. This what this course is giving and why I liked it.
-Dan
A lot of things fell into place after watching this course. The delivery was great and the examples were clear and went into really good detail. Highly recommended. I took one star off because I found the volume of some examples was very low compared to the voiceover volume - particularly in the compression tutorials - making it difficult to monitor the outcomes.
-A Spooner
Great for beginning FM8. This will get your started. You get the basics of most of the bells and whistles, but not all of them. I would love to take a more advanced course.
-Black Wing
Great course. Useful information and some very good tips and tricks of the trade.
-Hindie
Great overview of UAD plug ins used in a production environment. The highlight for me was a tip for the LA-2A plugin: Use two plugins in series the first as a compressor the second as a limiter.

cool idea! i never thought about to use random as a midi effect or all the other tools. first i thought this sounds not good at all, but then the chopped versions made sense. the percussion part sounds really cool. i think this course will boost creating music for me. Good explanation and awesome result. nice job

The Oscillator
Mar 5, 2015
This course is more for people which like how things really, really work. For me it was a bit too much and boring. The Oscilloscope was a really nice touch to illustrate the waveforms. I did not know that oscillators are so complex to dedicate its own course. All the explanation are good, but 10 times hearing similar sounds was too much for me.

This video series is what made made feel comfortable switching to Yosemite! Great Work!
-Neo60204
I thought this class was an informative tutorial that covered only the basics of the Traktor Pro interface and the Traktor F1 hardware. Additional examples of live DJ'ing with Traktor hardware or more advanced DJ concepts would have made this course more fulfilling.

I'm in the process of migrating from Logic to Cubase and this tutorial, even though it's for version 7, gave me very solid understanding of the basics. Thank you!

Jazz Improvisation 202 is a continuation of the Jazz 201 course. The information in the tutorials cover Jazz theory in a way that you can immediately implement them into your live controllerism or keyboard playing.I recommend this course and look forward to more advanced theory classes!
-Brock
Outstanding training. Only someone who really knows what they're doing can create a course like this - a perfect mix of detail and broad conceptual understanding. Reminds me of Trish and Chris Meyer's book on After Effects (high praise intended). After watching the free 101 course I knew I had to see the rest. I have to get up and running on Motion 5 in a hurry and Mr Wohl's course is *perfect* for that. The pace is brisk but deep and never boring. I considered a few other courses for Motion...

This Jazz Theory class provided me with the most practical music playing exercises over any of the available theory classes so far. This is a great tool to use not only for piano playing, but with a MIDI controller such as Ableton Push. The course is easy to follow and the concepts are worth your time.

Lead Sheet Project
Feb 27, 2015
This is an incredible course to get started with Sibelius. It's organized in a very logical way and the instructor's explanations are clear and easy to follow. There's no better way to learn than to apply what you're learning to accomplish a goal, and this course gives you the opportunity to do this in the form of the construction of a lead sheet. Mr. Goss is a superb teacher and I'm looking forward to more of his courses.

Another comprehensive and in-depth Izotope product overview by Matthew Loel T. Hepworth. Alloy 2 is a really versatile and decent sounding mixing multi-processor.
-Paul
Useful overview of how to dj with Ableton Live, but it is more for beginners with less experience in digital DJing. The explanations are quite basics and I am missing the secrets and tipps: such as using the utility as a gain knob or showing some nice effect chains with the chain selector.

Another great bread and butter course from the best audio teacher on this website. Great review for the experienced, and absolute gold for the beginners. Happy birthday, MPV!!! I have learned so much from this site, i would easily pay ten times as much for my membership.
-District Sound Lab
This is the second or so basic course I have watched & although there was not much new for me to learn it gave a reinforced understanding of the functions of the groove, quantize & swing sections of the inspector menu's. A must if your new to Logic.

This course was absolutely amazing!! I have been involved in music professionally and as an amateur for about 20 years and though I never realised it, I lacked so many of the basics - which this course covers. Easily one of the most interesting courses I've seen on this site: Pajic never ignores his audience's needs, and even when discussing advanced concepts manages to keep his viewer interested. This course is NOT for Live 9 beginners, but intermediate and advanced users will have a field day. Moreover, when Pajic brings in third-party plugins, he usually presents a solid case as to why they should be purchased. I cannot see any downside to viewing this course.
-HopeinCarts
Just watched this and have to say a big thank you to Joe as finally, I now understand how a limiter works and I can be confident in using the one I have in Reason. Loads of other fascinating stuff - one to watch again and again. Beautifully presented with images and diagrams in a clear concise manner. Five stars all the way!!
-Les T
Amazing little tutorial to get you updated and excited with logic new features.
-Brhamester
I am a few tutorials away from completing this course. The material covered so far isn't necessarily specific to working with orchestra material in MIDI, but rather, any compositions done in MIDI. This is advanced material meant for intermediate to advanced music producers.

Evolution of a Song
Feb 22, 2015
Not the way I do it. That's why I watched it. Lots of interesting techniques that I will certainly use in the future. I almost gave only four stars because there was little mention of mic techniques used and why - which was a major mention in the opening of the project. I would like to know more about recording without isolation too (live kit). Nice work!
-Craig Keefer
This guy... seriously... he not only makes it look easy, but he shows you how easy it can truly be. I immediately got onto my push and tried some of his techniques. Blown away! Now what is crazy, is that I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PLAY A PIANO/KEYBOARD. I'm freaking out that i've been able to play and improvise with so much more ease. It's like i sprouted technique from nowhere! I'm really appreciative for Jordan, Ableton and Push. Thanks for making this course. It really changed how I approach this t...

Awesome course! I really like to see what other people do to create an entire mix. That's how I learn to make music. And instead of buying new plugins all the time, I can finally create my own stuff. Doing so fill up my creative juice. Thanks!
-Narni123
This course was very useful. It really make it easy to understand levels, pan, EQ and compressors, what they are, how they work and how to use them in context. I also like the visuals, it really simplify things. Good job!

Feb 21, 2015
This video gave a better overview as I had read all the release notes but had missed a lot that the video filled in. Def worth a watch. Great time saver.
-Dv8ter
Very good, gives an excellent over view of Garage Band on the IPad and the Mac as well as Logic Pro. I learned quite a few things in the song's "journey" through the three platforms.Demonstrates how Garageband on the IPad and Mac, shouldn't be treated as just a beginner's or novice application but can be a integral part of a musical process. Very Impressive.

Exploring Kontakt 5
Feb 21, 2015
Great general overview of Native Instruments iconic sampler 'Kontakt' by Matt Vanacoro. Looking forward to watching the 'Kontakt Advanced' course now.
-Paul
I really enjoyed this video because Jordan was approaching this as a performing musician, not so much as a producer, so he delved into some playing techniques that are beyond what most producers might think of or be capable of. I really enjoyed how he took a very musical approach to using the controller.
-Great for developing technique o
Absolutely awesome course by Bill Burgess on drum programming in Native Instruments Battery. Bill is by far my favourite music trainer, if is music is even half as interesting and creative as his courses I will buy the lot!

Feb 21, 2015
Nice work by the ninja. This update to Logic Pro contains tons of new features and this course helps you to make the most of them.
-Double D
Good stuff. Only wish he would have demonstrated the use of the 2 new automation functions (just tug the fader up and down once each). It stood out to me because this issue with volume automation rendering faders unusable has long been a pet peeve and one which I experienced no less than a week ago. I figured it was purposely left out as a tease to get you into the 10.1 in depth course.
-Andrew Taylor
This was the best course out of the six music theory foundation classes covered by Gregg. The amount of concept involving chord progressions to my knowledge seemed comprehensive compared to some of the other classes. I would recommend this for any music producer or singer/songwriter.

It was informative and fun. I enjoyed it. I guess one way to improve it would be including demonstrations on making songs with the concepts presented.
-Vincenzo
This is a great overview of the improvements in the upgrade. It covers all the different new features without getting to exhausted by the details. If you want to see a broad overview of what has changed then this is the course for you.

Mastering Toolbox
Feb 19, 2015
Another worthwhile course to watch particularly if you're interested in finalising your audio from within Cubase. Some crossover with the Mathew's other Cubase tutorials which is to be expected but that's a good thing as it acts as a refresher.
-Phil Mountford
Nice little course on Native Instruments 'The Finger' and 'The Mouth' by G.W. Childs. In this course he demonstrates these creative effects on a multitude of different sound sources and practical applications.

Remix Revelations
Feb 18, 2015
I have watched most of Olav Basoski's courses and he never disappoints! This time round Olav deconstructs a remix of one of his old classics from around 2001. Throughout the course Olav explains the concepts behind the remix, and demonstrates the production techniques utilised.
-Paul
Matt Vanacoro does a very good job of demystifying Native Instrument's Molekular - a multi-effect processor hosted within Reaktor. You can get some really nice sounds out of this thing, check it out!

Basslines
Feb 18, 2015
This is possibly the most in-depth 100 level music theory course available by the instructor Gregg. The emphasis is placed on identification, creating bass lines, and understanding these concepts through more advanced musical systems such as Jazz and Blues. I feel like I understand everything I need to know when creating bass compositions for my music.
-Brock
There are alot of very useful techniques in this course that the working composer should know about if they don't already. Some of them may be a little exotic if you're working to a tight deadline but many are essential in adding that extra realism. The slight tongue in cheek and entertaining approach in places makes this tutorial enjoyable to watch and therefore easier to learn from.
-Phil Mountford
No need to go shopping for tons of 3rd party drum machines and drum libraries. Nigel Broad hands us a plethora of information which helps us transform new ideas for beat making, and song writing. 5 stars!
-B. Rico
This tutorial has been a huge help. I can't believe it has less than an hour running time and I learned exactly what I needed to get started in 2D animation. I was working on an animation in Flash before the I finished the tutorial. Looking forward to the other parts in the series. Thanks!
-Celeste

Rhythm
Feb 17, 2015
This course on rhythm got better and better as it moved on to lessons describing genres and intermediate rhythmic concepts. There is a lot that could be put into this tutorial, but given the length, it has still been a valuable tool for me.
-Brock
Great insights here. And tons of inspiration to take this thing to the next level!
-Hoof
This was great to have around when the update was on my laptop. Great timing!

Melody
Feb 16, 2015
Music Theory 101: Melody is a hybrid between the basic concepts of melody and the fundamentals of music theory. It does not go in depth above basic concepts in either subject area, but it does cover a wide range of ideas that are useful for understanding the role of melody in your compositions.

Feb 16, 2015
This course has been as beneficial to my music theory studies as the harmony course I am taking at a private school right now. Another excellent synthesis course by Rishabh Rajan, this time he unveils the power and versatility of Logic's Sculpture acoustic modelling synthesiser. After watching these tutorials I will definitely be breaking out Sculpture for programming acoustic instruments (and much more) rather than reaching for samples and Contact instruments.

Getting Started
Feb 15, 2015
Excellent. In just over an hour of casual viewing I feel I have a much better understanding of a complex program that is often not all that intuitive. Perfect for beginners!
-Eric Weller
The new features of Logic Pro 10.1 in a very nice overview - quick and informational. Well done - thank you!
-StayingInTheFlow
It's difficult to pitch a course like this at the right level but even seasoned composers I think will get some nuggets from this. My only disappointment is that there is room for much more exploration of the techniques used in scoring for picture that I hope is covered in subsequent videos because this really is a very good starter.
-Phil Mountford
Really enjoyed this course by Steve Horelick on Logic's modelling synthesiser 'Sculpture'.I forgot how versatile this synth is, and more importantly how good it sounds. Looking forward to watching the Sculpture sound design now.
-Paul
Great course by Martin Sitter on Logic's super powerful environment. This is definitely the course for you if you are just deleting into Logic's environment! Although these tutorials were depicted in Logic 7, all the information and knowledge contained within are easily transferable to any newer version of Logic.
-PAUL
Excellent course by Steve H about Mastering audio in Logic Pro. I liked how he give a overview of mastering history at the beginning as well as some practical examples of typical mastering processes. I have been singing that flaming wheels song all day haha catchy to say the least!
-Paul
I thought that this course was great at explicitly outlining harmonic techniques used in motion video scoring. I think there could be an advanced class with tutorials to further expand on these concepts, but this approach is seldom seem with other tutorials involving music theory and how it works with the entertainment industry.
-Brock
Triumph: Explored
Feb 14, 2015
While Triumph can be figured out through trial and error, it is very handy to have an example of workflow to show off the features. The tutorial does a very good job of demonstrating the ease of use, once Triumph is understood. Thank you.

Tired of the same old sounds? Would you like to try something more original or would you like to add your own expression to pre-existing sounds? Try this course. It's very useful. I found quite captivating. I highly recommend it to get your creative juice flowing. I see so much potential in the ES2.

I love the Song Craft series. I've watched them all, and this one is to me the best, though they are all great. This series is unlike anything I have ever seen, providing candid and enlightening insight into song creation, from start to finish, with such creative people. Kudos to the team that puts this together. I am inspired to pursue my musical journey because watching these real people make real music in a few hours in a home environment most of us can relate to is just...well inspiring! Tha...

iPad For Dummies
Feb 13, 2015
I gave 4 stars as this course needs a refresh with latest IOS. However, most of the stuff is relevant and will definitively help a new user.
-Dan
If your new to song writing, then this will give you some insight to the process, and what it takes. There were also some good tips for creating stems in Pro Tools, and how to prepare your session for use in different DAWs like Logic Pro X.

MIDI Demystified
Feb 12, 2015
Of all the top educators at AskVideo, Peter Schwartz is definitely the all time toppest! Pretty voice, brilliant humour, clear explanation, unsurpassable know how (technically as wel as musically) etc. etc. AskVideo, be careful with this guy!
-Robart
Another excellent Logic Pro TNT course by Steve H and quests. I forgot how good these courses were, and how powerful and more importantly creative the Environment is.
-Paul
excellent overview - looking forward to more in depth treatments in the future!
-ouzoman
In every tutorial I have purchased, I have found at least a couple of nuggets of good information that has made me fairly happy with my purchase. In this tutorial, however, I got something from just about EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER. I kept saying to myself, "Dang! Gotta try that!" over and over and over.
-Darren
Awesome tutors, Loving it!!!!!!!! 6 out of 5, this class helped got a grip of Ableton 9 quicker than Sonic Academy or Lynda. The are good but this tutors are great here.
-Williams Areloegbe
A pretty comprehensive overview of what's new in Cubase 7. At times a little too verbose (particularly spelling out all of the key shortcuts) but definitely well worth watching even if you have a more recent version of Cubase and just want to see what features of Cubase 7 you've not yet discovered or used, as I do.
-Phil Mountford
Acoustics
Feb 11, 2015
Another great course from Joe Albano, my favorite teacher on here. If you are new to acoustics, this is gold. Otherwise its still a great review, and you may still learn a thing or two. Very thorough yet easy to understand.
-District Sound Lab
Great Logic Pro master class by the main man Steve H! Although this course was produced in Logic Pro (8 and 9 I believe) most of information can be transferred to Logic Pro X quite easily. Key commands and menus a bit different, thats about it.
-Paul
Truly excellent course on Izotopes RX4 by Matthew Loel T. Hepworth. Once again Matthew provides a comprehensive and in-depth overview of this extremely powerful audio repair application, as well as demonstrating many practical scenarios for its use.
-Paul
Perfect amount of detail of everything from microphones, recording techniques and post-recording EQ, compression and limiting. As someone who really knows Logic Pro X, I still learned about a few features and techniques that I had never used before. By applying the various Logic features to the mechanics of recording and editing a simple audio track, this gave context to learning how to use those Logic features. I especially enjoyed the pragmatic approach of building a Voiceover template because...
-Ellisberg
I thought this introduction course on Logic X supplemented my music production schooling perfectly. The concepts are given out in a manner that doesn't waste your time. It is a good way to get yourself oriented going into watching more advanced courses on Logic Pro X
-Brock
This Ableton Instruments review tutorial is exactly what I needed as someone who just started using Live 9 and Push in the last couple weeks. Would recommend this streamlined class to anyone who doesn't have years of synthesizer experience or sound design experience.
-Brock
I truly wish I had watched this series sooner I would have made better mixes and it would of made me a much better audio engineer. This is by far one of the best and most useful audio useful courses (and I have taken many) I have taken in my life... Peter Schwartz is an awesome teacher, extremely detailed, breaks signal flow to you in baby steps.
-JDJ
Thanks for this course! I learned a lot and more! Toby explains things so that even I can understand ;-). I'm getting really inspired after watching this! Hope to see some followups on Superior in the future.

Brilliant tutorial on Animoog App. Thorough, step-by-step overview of all the features and their applications. In addition to this you get a basic overview of subtractive synthesis and Animooog sound design lessons. Finally I can utilise the app to its fullest. This tutorial combined with Rishabh's Glitch course has given me some great inspiration. Thanks!

The Producer
Feb 9, 2015
Michael Wohl is a fantastic teacher. He is clearly extremely knowledgeable and presents in a straight-forward and comprehensible way. There is no doubt he covers a massive amount of material at a break-neck pace, but it is totally comprehensible and effortless to follow. The titles and graphics are clear and tastefully done. All in all, this is a terrific course. MacProVideo, please make certain he actually makes all the advanced courses he so tantalizingly refers to from time-to-time. I will un...
-Scott
Great overview of Logic Pro's most salient plugins for the main man Steve H. Although this course was produced in Logic 7, apart from GUI aesthetics all knowledge and techniques can be easily transferred to newer versions of Logic, or any other DAW for that matter. On a personal note, I am really disappointed 'The Igorizer' was discontinued in Logic 7 :-P
-Paul
I thought this course on harmony was great! Jordan has three courses on Ma Pro Video, and all of them are detailed and specific on the advanced techniques that are outlined in the class. Worth your time if you are a piano player or live controllerist.
-Brock
Really good overview of the physics of sound presented in typical Steve H style. There was some really interesting tutorials within this course, that were explained well. The only downside to this course is that it is not long enough!
-Paul

Keyboard Wizdom
Feb 9, 2015
This course is worth your time! It is definitely one of the more advanced MIDI controller concept courses on this website. I thought the layering techniques with the live song examples really helped me understand how I can look at a keyboard and improve my live playing capabilities.
-Brock Harris
Great little course on Logic Pros EFM1 by David Earl (or you can call me Logic Ninja, I don't care). It's nice how he describes FM synthesis theory whilst explaining each of the EFM1's parameters and what effect that particular parameter has on the sound. You can really achieve some 'phat' sounding basses out of this basic little FM synth! I often reach for the EFM1 over FM8 when creating simple but sold bass tones.
-Paul
Vocoding With EVOC
Feb 8, 2015
Great little course on Logic Pro's EVOC 20 Vocoder by David Earl. Dave provides an overview of all the EVOC's features and demonstrates how it can be used in several practical applications - definitely worth the watch for any Logic Pro users.
-Paul
Another excellent synthesis course by Rishabh Rajan this time demonstrating the power and versatility of Native Instruments Massive! If new to synthesis, or to Native Instruments Massive, I would definitely recommend watching Massive Essentials first.
-Paul
Matt continues with his follow-on course in photography of everything in basic lighting. It's a very well rounded lecture. I wish he would have included a few examples of photos with the various types of lighting he discussed....a picture is worth a few thousand words, as they say.
-GregG
Great tutorial on the production of a drum and bass track by Nigel Broad in Logic Pro. Nigel demonstrates how he builds a track from start-to-finish in this course; his workflow, production and mixing techniques. Although this course was produced in an earlier version of Logic Pro (8 I believe) all techniques shown can be easily transferred to other DAWs, including Logic Pro X :-P
-Paul
Excellent allrounder course on producing, mixing and mastering dub-step music by Nigel Broad in Logic Pro 9. Like Nigel's other bass music courses all the techniques he utilses in this course can be easily transferred to other DAWs. I also recommend watching 'dub-step essentials' and 'confessions of a drum & bass producer'.

Triumph: Explored
Feb 7, 2015
Excellent course by Matt Vanacoro on Audiofile Engineering 'Triumph'. This application looks very promising for audio editing, post production and mastering applications on a mac.
-Paul
Super tutorial! I've learn a lot about sound design in general, but I learned that ES2 is a very powerful out of the box tool. Nice one, Raj!
-Alex Alexandru
Although this application is not for me, Loop Editor looks quite versatile, and Matt Vanacoro demonstrates its uses and functionality well. I did enjoy the Loop Theory section at the end, some interesting and creative loop ideas.
-Paul
Pretty good overview of how to put together a set and use controllers. You can tell Matt is extremely experienced and talented. Suggestions for improvement would be to see more descriptions of the operation of the program as he used it. He would do edits and move things around etc. but didn't always show what keys he pressed or how he did his moves. It's always good to find out people's little quick moves when they work. Overall a good tutorial and it's nice to see ableton and controllers i...
-Zekagiu
Excellent course by Steve Horelick demonstrating the power and versatility of Logic Pro's mighty Ultrabeat Drum Synth! This course is still relevant for Logic Pro X users as Ultrabeat does not appear to have changed much since version 8. All I can say is try not to be put off by Ultrabeat's convoluted and arguably ugly interface, after you have watched these tutorials you will know Ultrabeat's GUI and extensive feature set like the back of your hand.
-Paul
Brilliant! Thank you so much, guys!
-matde
Great synthesis tutorial by Rishabh Rajan in Logic Pro's mighty ES2 synthesiser! Rishabh demonstrates how to create bread and butter dance music patches, as well as techniques to overcome some of the ES2's quirks!
-Paul
Phenomenal course. All kinds of fantastically creative approaches to making rhythm interesting, while still keeping the alchemy of surprise combinations and the spontaneity of chance discovery alive and well. There are 'gotchas' in here that I would never even have known existed, let alone where and how to access them. Delivered quickly, precisely and with humour, the course assumes you know a fair bit about rhythm already and how to find your way around Logic. Then it takes you down the rabbit ...

Flex Time Editing
Feb 5, 2015
Great course on Flex Time editing by Steve H, he covers all the typical applications and a couple of more esoteric ones of this powerful tool. Apart from a few aesthetically differences, Flex Time works exactly the same in Logic Pro X as it did in Logic Pro 9.
-Paul
Poster Design
Feb 5, 2015
The trainer is clearly very talented however; the pace at times was simply too fast. Worth the investment? Definitely as many of the suggestions, workflows and tips are simply fantastic. It is just the pace of the delivery of information at times that was the problem for me. Mouse movements in the video are so fast at times; it was a struggle to keep up in places. A great effort is made to zoom into small details to show exactly what is being changed. The length of the videos are also very se...

Inside Info
Feb 4, 2015
Excellent tutorials on mixing tips and tricks for electronic dance music. Although Ableton is utilised within this course, all knowledge is easily transferable to any other DAV.
-Paul
This was unbelievably helpful. Would LOVE to see more videos, about other features of the MPC. Sampling sounds using mics, editing the samples, some pro tips helping with the transition from "rough skeletal beat" to a full-fleshed beat. Thank you for everything, though! HIGHLY recommended.
-Sean
One can only trust that the complete set of features was covered , but the contents were very clearly presented, and even if a feature was missed (not saying that's the case), yhis LPX update was substantial and thus this course a good review.
-Charles Monteiro

ES2 Exposed
Feb 2, 2015
Steve H demonstrates the features and functionality of Logic Pro's powerful ES@ in this really interesting course. Definitely worth the watch for any Logic Pro user! I really want some of Igor's presets lol
-Paul
I wasn't too sure based on the first few videos. However.... it's well worth sticking with this one. From moving a few notes around in a midi editor to a finished masterpiece. Some great humour, tips, concepts, insight, creativity and an awesome track to boot. Inspirational. Very well played.Very cool.

I actually took the entire Cubase 6 series courses. These courses are the best I could find anywhere. Highly recommended!

Zebra Explored
Feb 1, 2015
This course was a thorough and detailed walk-through on a very powerful synth that is hard to find tutorials on. I am thrilled that you have covered some of the U-he products as they are some of the best software synths available. Thanks for saving me hours of reading through the manual. This was a much better way to learn this synth.
-Ryan
A great way to get started into recording, this course pretty much covers all the important aspects to consider throughout a recording session. Even if you're at an advanced level, it'll still be useful.
-MikeCViteri
Dave Earl really demonstrates the power and potential of Logic Pro X's Drummer and rum Kit Designer in this awesome tutorial! As an electronic dance music producer, to my detriment I have payed little attention to these plugins until the 1.1 update where electronic kits were implemented. All I can say is i've been losing out because even the rock and alternative kits are fantastic - check this one out!
-Paul
Even if it is an advance course, it's easy to follow and the course is very well done. Found some tricks that will definitely help me better mastering tracks.
-Dan
Great tutorial on Logic's Arp by Steve H. He demonstrates how versatile this little MIDI effect is, which is not obvious at first glance. Ti be gibes, I had totally dismissed it before watching this!
-Paul
I requested a score video by Peter on the MacPro forums quite a while back and WoW it was worth waiting for, Amazing! If you’re serious about developing skills in the score editor this video is a must see. A truly professional production by a great teacher. Thanks Peter, you have indeed shaved weeks, months if not years off my learning curve in the score editor.
-Dave Robinson
Great tutorial on drum synthesis by Rishabh Rajan in Logic Pro X. Rishabh shows off the capabilities of Logic's extremely powerful yet under-rated Ultrabeat Drum Synth. I would recommend watching Steve H's Ultrabeat Unleashed tutorial first if you are new to Ultrabeat.

Really useful as David Earl explains the features so that I could actually understand what they were, unlike the list that you get in the Logic Pro X 10.1 Update. MPV, as always, are so quick with the release of these tutorials... LPX 10.1 update has only been out a few days!

Absolutely fantastic course on sound design in Logic Pro X by Bill Burgess! In particular, the tutorials on speed fades and space designer on drums blew my mind; did not realise the inspector tabs, and space designer could be utilised so creatively! Definitely recommend this course!!!
-Paul
This is an awesome course on mixing techniques for electronic dance music by Mo Volans. He pushes Logic Pro X's processes and effects of their limits to produce unique and creative effects! Best EDM mixing course watched to date!

In November 2014 I did a trial of Cubase 7.5 and wanted to buy it but wasn't quite convinced enough to buy it then. I planned to wait until at least mid 2015. A few days after my 30 day trial expired (early Dec) I happened to see a Cubase Pro 8 announcement. This new version has a large number of improvements compared even to 7.5. I was a little frustrated by that, having just worked out how to use 7.5, but nevertheless was impressed by all the improvements. Prior to all that I had been usi...

An excellent course covering all the basic operations of this very comprehensive, next generation synthesiser!

Another good course by David Earl in Logic Pro X. This course was very thorough, maybe a little too long for subject, but each to our own!
-Paul
Very nice and fast-paced overview of the most important new features.

Picked up some great tips 'n' tricks from this course, not only for voice over but for many other audio applications.
-Paul
I will say it again and again... Joe Albano is incredible. Hands down the best instructor i have come across on this website. HIs Abbey Road course was amazing, and now this series of courses is also incredible. While i have already learned all the basics of audio etc, its been a while, and going through these courses has been an incredible asset. I think any one in audio would benefit from going through this whole series.

I rated this course 5 stars, only because 10 stars wasn't available! I am 70 years old, I have been studying music my whole life. I have read over 100 text books on composition and watched countless videos on the subject. This course, Music Scoring 101 by Gary Guttman, is hands down the best tutorial (book, video or otherwise) I have ever encountered! More usable information is taught in this course than in any 10 books. The presentation is as good as the content. I was so impressed that, halfwa...

Quicklook Guide
Jan 28, 2015
Your HTML & CSS 100 (Quick Start) is really great. After watching it, I now have an idea of what designing a web page is all about. Two important points for you to consider for improving the tutorials, especially for novices: (1) You should clarify what is the relationship between the text editor and the browser. For example, which browser can you use for testing the pages and how do you present the files to the browser. (2) Since you are jumping so rapidly in and out of a design text to add n...

Canny little tutorial on flexing vocals in Logic Pro X. I never thought I would have bothered with Flex Pitch as I am a long time Melodyne user Flex Pitch seems well integrated into Logic and will probably use it for more simple pitch operations.
-Paul
Great course I really thought that I would never find a way to really accommodate scoring and recording for instrumental parts all in one application and had always fall back to using logic and sibelius. But what a pain it is to have to go through those two steps, either write the score first, and then rework in logic... or the other way round. Now I see I can really do it all in Logic, it's going to save time, and the results are going to be good enough that I can hardly justify the double wor...

This course is not only full of tools to create more musical results from your efforts with MIDI composing, it's also very funny and entertaining and with a lot of really beautiful and exciting music created ( I presume) by the author. Excellent course by David Earl on the fundamentals of creating a song in Logic Pro X. He demystified the new user interface and demonstrated the new features in creative ways. My only negative is I would have preferred him to have informed us on key commands.
-Paul
I asked about this just yesterday and apparently it was already in the works because it's already here! David Earl delivers again in his usual fashion, covering the most notable new features in an easy to understand/remember manner, albeit some of it not to the depths that I'd have hoped. However, in-depth tutorials on each new thing may be in store, which would make sense. It also seem implied by David himself, so I'm looking forward to more. -Paul
Great course, informative and helpful!!! Excited to try out 10.1!!!
-Loko
David Earl does it again with a quick rundown of some of the new features included with the Logic X 10.1 update. Logic really stepped up their game with this update. The new Compressor Improvements look fantastic, and the new software instruments (Cinematic, and Mellotron) are gonna keep me glued to my chair. The Drummer Plugin, and the Drum machine designer infused with the new Piano Roll Editor functionality are gonna make life a lot easier... and the only thing better than love handles?......

This is a GREAT course. If you're going to use MIDI in your production, even if it's not Orchestral, this course will have something of value for you. Peter Schwartz's knowledge of the material (both technical and musical) is quite impressive, but even better is his ability to get it across to the "trainee". This course is fantastic - one of my favourite's on Ableton's deep sonic capabilities. This is great course for those who want to go beyond the standard use of Ableton's effects, so is suited to more experienced Live users. I found the tips and tricks in this course really inspirational - and I loved how Rick also talked about third party plug-ins which is how we use DAWs in real-life. Thank you!
-Arthur Spooner
Excellent course on the art of mastering music; perhaps the most comprehensive and detailed I have seen to date! It was nice to watch Phil Magnotti master a song from start to finish, as well as highlight some of the software he likes to use. I would recommend this course to any budding mastering engineer regardless of what DAW they use.
-Paul
A really terrific course! Clear, informative, and inspiring. Highly recommended.

This was an interesting course on the fundamentals of audio recording and equipment. Reminded me of the first year of my undergrad degree. I had to knock s star off for the overpowering and annoying intro music - that was present on all 92 videos!

I purchased RX4 Advanced a few months ago but hadn't yet explored the help files. This tutorial really got me up and running in a very short time. It helped tremendously in dealing with immediate projects that needed a lot of restoration and repair. Matthew is an excellent presenter and offers direct applications with effective tips to get the most out of RX4. I plan on purchasing other courses that he's produced.

Thanks for a very inspirational course. Your ghost note and offset note 'routine' is really an eye opener! Took the test, and failed. Not one of your keyC exists on my system: colour= option c, Midi note mute=m, zoom= ctrl + arrow keys etc. etc. But thanks anyway. JanD

I have many unsolved mysteries in my life that I believe Peter could solve. Until then, the "mocking" of orchestral sample libraries into realistic sounding music is one of the big ones. Thanks so much for clearing up the idea of using multiple programs for one line even. And the details about how each instrument is actually played is very helpful. Thanks. Now on too my other unsolved mysteries, when are you ready to start?

This course is brilliant, the only reason I'm writing a review is in hopes that there are more courses taught by BB. Otherwise I would want to keep it my little secret. He's funny, clear, and VERY knowledgeable.
-The Secretive Producer
Great wisdom in this course. I feel like at some point I became part of the story as I could clearly see myself doing and performing as a professional photographer....totally in the zone. The tips for future educational pursuits is well received in a flow that makes sense.

These courses are a great way to decide what software to buy. With the cost of quality software studying these courses will certainly help you decide where & in what order to spend what budget you have on what will give you the best return for your outlay as adverts do not give enough details for a decision on what & in which order to part with your pocket money. I hate demos as they tend to leave crap in your machine if you decide they are not for you. This software looks great - I want it.

Advanced Synthesis
Jan 16, 2015
Excellent follow up to 'Analog Synthesis in a Digital World'. Even as a professional sound designer, this course opened my mind to utilising more esoteric synthesis techniques in a more creative and musical context. Shame there was no further editions to this series, Richard Lainhart was a very intelligent man and a great tutor; who definitely had a lot more to offer on the subject of synthesis.
