“ Off da chain...It was great, but I kinda wish he would have kept everything in Logic, though..That's why he gets a 4.5 instead of a 5.. ”
“ I must admit, i'm not a producer/writer in the the R&B field... so i was a little hesitant in purchasing this tutorial in the first place. After I watched him go through the video, not once but twice, i find his style insightful when it comes to creating depth & width in a track, all of which i will be using in my next house track.
I think as a logic tutorial it's very basic and could have used more of Logic itself... he relies on too many 3rd party plugs without giving us the "out of the box" approach that Olav gave us in Logic 404; I understand though... I myself have some of those DSP plugs that he used, however; most of us don't. Another problem i have with it is that David tends to repeat himself and he took an inordinant amount of time to get to "business" and we almost could have done without the first 10 or so videos...but that's just me.
Overall, i found this tutorial excellent and full of valuable, if not sage wisdom. Especially when it comes to mixing and working with "real" audio... Nicely done. ”
“ I found the tutorial to be very helpful. I do think that there could be more input around a systematic approach around setting up the environment for third party multi-timbrel plugins (BFD/PHILHARMONIC etc.). Regardless, I will continue to use your tutorials to push me forward. They are very well done! ”
“ its great. answered a lot of questions can down load right off the site:> will be back for more! ”
“ The Waveburner tutorial was extremely helpful! It's a program that on one level, is very user friendly and almost anyone can open it up and start using it; on another level, the tutorial explored some things that I probably would have wished I'd known if I'd gone further down the road without it! I have several of the MacPro vids, and they are all exceptional. This one did not disappoint either. Please keep em' coming. Even for those of us who have been at this for some time, it is still refreshing to learn new tricks and tips. Thanks for all the work you put into these! ”
“ For me it was very easy to follow along and understand. The tone of Paul's voice and the way he explains what he is doing, why he is doing it and what the result will sound like like is excellent. It's amazing what you can pick up in just a minute or two! I look forward to other reviews of products that I use as well. ”
“ Motion 101.
I have not gone through it entirely yet but I like it very much. Very task oriented and gets you in the software (in fact compared to the ones I have about Logic, I tend to prefer this one, in particular for the narration style)
Excellent job ”

“ I really like both tutorials I have bought; Garageband and iMovie. I am learning from both of them. I'd recommend your tutorials to anyone who asked me and will purchase more in the future as I need them. ”
“ This is a really good tutorial! I had been frustrated trying to use final cut pro's 3 way color corrector to do things that are easy using Color. Michael Wohl is a great instructor. Don't be intimidated by Color. Get this tutorial and be amazed at how good your shots can really look! ”
“ I was not thrilled with the order in which topics were discussed on this tutorial. Also, there could have been a bit more time or detail taken with the audio recording and set-up segments. The MIDI segments could also have been more detailed. I generally don't think enough consideration was taken for absolutely "first time" users of Logic or any type of digital recording set up; much is assumed. What is there is presented clearly, accurately, and for the most part effectively. I would not hesitate to purchase a tutorial such as this again, but I would be prepared to look for certain answers and explanations elsewhere. ”
“ I thought this tutorial was simply ... great.
I went from rank beginner to being able to create my own photo slideshow in about one hour. And that includes adding a title, music, and transitions.
And what I really love is being able to view only the lessons that are of current interest.
Kudos to Francesco! ”
“ Hello,
I'm happy with my purchase. The price is good and the player works well.
Something that most DVD tutorials could probably improve on is the subject detail of their indexes. As with all manuals, the quality of the index has direct bearing on how effectively the relevant information can be located. DVD tutorials do tend to require immersion in the whole package to learn details not necessarily apparent from the index.
”
“ Really love you guy's stuff! It's great! I learned a lot from your tutorials. Logic 404 is really good! My only complaint is the audio quality. I see great mixing technics but it is really hard to hear what is going in the mix. I don't know how you could fix it, but it would help a lot.
Thx
Rob!
PS. I will have a demo on bands website by 5-5-08, thanx in-part to you guys. It would be great to get you feed back! www.infinitimpact.com ”
“ I just downloaded this video and it is really amazing. I have just started the program and already have learned so much. The tip regarding hiding the reference tracks is great! I never thought about working that way. I am really looking forward to getting deeper into this one. Another excellent series. ”
“ Just watched this new MacProVideo through from start to finish - absolutely captivating ! Great to hear and see how David worked the sound up through the different stages from the "raw" recording to a polished mix. Thank you very much David for sharing your skills, insights and your "heart and soul" approach to music. In a sphere where the focus often seems to be overly on the technology it is great to hear a real, balanced musical perspective and an appreciation of what music is really all about - and the thing that touches our hearts - the joy of beautiful sound, and the emotion it contains. A real treat and absolutely inspirational ! The best music production video I have ever seen. Thanks for making this possible MacProVideo, and very much appreciated. Kind Regards, Nick ”
“ Without this tutorial, I would not have been able to grasp the concept of the environment at all. This would have been a serious setback for my switch fro ProTools to Logic. Thanks, Martin!!! ”
“ I must say I was rather excited when the email announcing this tutorial hit my mailbox, mostly from the genre being covered. Although I own CD’s by almost all of the artists named in his bio, I was not familiar with David Isaac. After listening to 2.5 hrs of this 3 hour tutorial thus far, I will be revisiting those CD’s along with any future CD purchases to see which ones he was involved with.
In this tutorial David has his Mix Engineer hat on (as opposed to his Producer hat). As he is creating the mix, he does a great job of communicating his objectives and the reasoning behind them.
When I first heard the song David was going to use in this tutorial, I was less than thrilled. There were parts I just knew he was going to discard, I know I would have. However, he managed to find a place for all of the elements and make them work well.
In executing the mix, as one might expect, David makes use of a number of plug-ins. A good number of them are third party, including a few I never seen before. On one hand, as a person who is still learning his way around Logic, it would have been nice if he were to make use of just the plug-ins included within Logic, but I supposed that might be too much to ask if the Logic ones don’t get the job done. On the other hand though, it’s good to find out what world class tools are out there and how they are best used.
A number of the manipulations that David made to the mix are very subtle. You will need good monitors or a good set of earphones to hear them. I was listening through a pair of Sennheiser HD280’s and there were manipulations that I still couldn’t hear. (Perhaps it was too subtle for the audio/video compression of the tutorial to retain, or maybe my ears are just getting too old.)
However, the proof is in the pudding. As he took a song that I probably would never listen to and molded it into one some that I could enjoy listening to, all while still keeping the vision of the original producer and without discarding any elements, I am convinced of the importance a good mix.
What drew my attention to this tutorial was the style of music covered, namely R&B. It became pretty evident though, that David’s overall approach to mixing and the specific techniques covered in this tutorial transcend musical genre and could be applied to just about any style of music featuring recorded instruments and vocals.
I definitely intend to use a good number of the techniques David demonstrated in this tutorial in my own productions and mixes. I am very glad I purchased this. I can see that I will be referring back to this tutorial for some time to come.
I hope there is room for another tutorial by David; I would love one where he is wearing his Producer hat.
”
“ Very helpful. This was the first tutorial of yours I have used. Once I figured out how to navigate from one section to another, I found it easy to use. Being able to jump from one section to another is a good thing - I'm not too excited about listening to a whole presentation when I may be looking for a certain function or activity. I found the instructor's approach useful - not too basic and not over my head. Great product. ”
“ awesome tutorials, love the face that all are downloadable, very user friendly ”
“ Very well paced. Informative and entertaining. Michael's voice is easily intelligible without being hypnotic like a few others who have had me sound asleep at the keyboard. Bring on Motion 3D. ”
“ very fast
voice clear,but a bit "monotone"
examples quite basic,could be
occasionally more "exciting"
good value for money ”
“ These tutorials had me compressing in just a few hours. Macprovideo, you did it again. There really is no other place to go to purchase learning tutorials. As always, I made another great purchase.
User,
Michael ”
“ Very good tutorials and great video quality.
I would have liked something about Notation in Logic though! ”
“ Thank you Michael for such a
comprehensive course on Compressor.
Especially the way you address some of
the problems with web streaming...
I thought I was crazy !!!
( Until, I watched tutorial ) VERY HELPFUL Bottom line, I was able to get my
projects finished looking better than ever
before. ”
“ I wouldn't waste time writing this if I weren't actually thankful for this terrififc work. The price to benefit ratio is enourmously in the favor of the buyer. I'll get more value out of Logic pro now than I ever would have otherwise. That's the point! Worth every penny. ”
“ Concise, informative, clean, good voice work, this is only my second tutorial from mac pro and i have found them to be highly useful. Beats youtube , which is a good source but is never as professional or orderly relavent. The only problem i found in this one is when the menu screen comes on before a chapter plays, the duration of that certain lesson is always at 0:00 and its jumbled up over the description of the content of that lesson. Besides that my reason tutorial has been impeccable. Thank you. ”
“ Martin, I am new to video editing and was hopping for something a litle more stepwise and simpler. Having downloadable examples would be useful. Chunk size of each lesson is short.
Regards,
Michael Canfield ”
“ I am very pleased with the Motion 101 content and believe it was a good investment of my time and money. I am looking forward to more information regarding 3D and other topics that were not addressed in this initial offering in a future tutorial. ”
“ It is really good.. i like it and really am waiting for the color 102 and i hope if it is soon..
”
“ Simply incredible : So informative !
It shows hidden things in Logic going deeper in complexity always with simplicity.
Am afraid to become addicted for the next saison !
Keep up the Great Work !
:) ”
“ ideal for those of us who have mastered the basics of Garageband and want to go deeper with more possibilities of Logic. And hey.... it's FREE! ”
“ Great information to get you started. Wohl is smart and interesting to listen to. My only disappointment was that he did not go into any 3D. Perhaps that will be in the next volume. ”
“ Well done Mr. Wohl! I found the tutorials got me up to speed very quickly. Michael's clear delivery and deep knowledge of the application made the learning process a breeze. I highly recommend these tutorials to anyone venturing into Motion 3 territory. SS ”
“ Thank you, the tutorial gave me an overall view of garage band, step by step in a very approchable way, ”
“ this tutorial contained good information but I felt that its focus on the details of building individual voicings slighted the topics of most importance to me. I would have preferred a focus on sequencing, building up beats in different song sections, saving sectioned beats out to midi, stuff like that. That material was present, but I had to skip all the way to the end to get to it.. other than that the material was accurate and solid; I just personally would have preferred a focus more on the things of importance to my operational needs - building up beats, compositing them into song sections, saving them out, that kind of stuff. ”
“ Simply amazing, this video made me really appreciate logic to a whole other level
My music is now more complex
but was easier to make ”
“ Amazing, Tons of information and compliments what i learned in school for recording engineering
Makes Mixing seem less stressful ”
“ The music is way to soft behind the instruction..
not quite as slic and to the point as the logic series.
Tends to mumble a bit.
otherwise great - good way to learn... ”
“ I really enjoyed watching this tutorial. Simple steps take you deep into the workflow and show 100% useful tips to enhance your working experience.
Continue the way you did this! ”
“ Somehow a manual doesnt work for me. However your training video along with its downloading system and NED viewing system are excellent. I have both enjoyed the first viewing and later delighted in finding solutions to issues I was being slowed down with by dipping into the training. Thank you Michael Wohl and your team. I would recommend the Final Cut 6 101: video editing essentials. ”
“ Great videos! I like the fact that each segment is short and well categorised in the menu.
Would really appreciate the cd/dvd burning function for pc. Also - I get a message when starting up on pc that a file hasn't downloaded fully when they all have!
I also get an error message as the NED tries to auto update. Otherwise Brilliant! ”
“ Overall good- but at times it seems a bit rushed the whole thing- seemed more in depth the earlier tutorials from macprovideo.
”
“ very inspiring & instructional ”
“ Didn't see all the tut's yet, but I found the one I saw: Capturing and Outputting in FCP 6, very instructive, pleasant to watch and excellent to understand for not native English speaking people.
Glad to have it bought, it's worth all the money! ”
“ VERY HELPFUL,MADE THINGS VERY EASY ”
“ Complex application. Instruction nicely done.
Wish there were a different piece of instructional music to listen to over and over again.
Thanks,
RWD ”
“ Very interesting tutorial. I learned a lot of things I didn`t know. Its good to have especific electronic music tutorials
I missed a final word about having to master the tracks.
Eventhough, excellent tutorial.
Thanks a lot Olav! ”
“ Switching to Mac & Logic pro 8 (From PC & Logic 5.5) was a difficult decision. Mainly because I don't have the time for a long learning curve. Your tutorials helped me a lot especially Logic 303 . With in 2 days Logic 8 was up and running in the studio. ( Still learning but now I can take my time and check every chapter in detail. )
Great Work, Great Tutorial. !!! It would also be very nice if you continue with Logic 303 subscription for another year .

“
This was a very good tutorial. Steve Horelick did a very good job of breaking down a very complex instrument and keeping things digestible while not being patronizing. His friendly and humourous approach helped a great deal. I found I was much less intimidated by the ES 2 after watching his tutorial, and I felt much more in control. Perhaps the only criticism I would offer is that perhaps some more time spent on characterizing some of the sounds that individual waves or combinations of waves could create would have been useful, perhaps as a kind of appendix. Other than that it was an excellent tutorial. ”
“ Great hands-on tutorial with a lot of real life tips! ”
“ Very informative and really helpful ”
“ Really good, friendly, clear and concise teaching modules. I would never have found a fraction of the information in the Logic8 programme without these tutorials to get started, since I found that the screen interface is initially overwhelming, compared to Garageband.
I will be looking to get the more advanced tutorial set soon.
Control Surfaces
I have a Studiologic VMK 176 controller keyboard and find it difficult to understand how to programme the controller within Logic8, so that I can use the transport buttons, sliders and knobs to control the Logic screen interface. Are control surface set up examples like this included in the advanced tutorials? If not could they be included?
The Studiologic manual is sparse in my view and needs to be re written, but the keyboard is excellent.
Kind regards
Chris

“ Loved the tutorial, its fantastic value, explains everything from very basic understanding of Logic, to an in depth look at features and what they do for you. Woth every penny, and a must have if you want to get the most out of your software ”
“ Thanks for another wonderful learning experience using MacProVideo.
You still can't beat these videos, believe me I have bought many different types of learning tools, but you guys by far, beat them all..!
Looking forward to my next learning experience.

“ Hi Guys
Core Color 1 has definatdly improved my skills way over what I could imagine.
From knowing nothing, to be feeling sure and comfortable working with Color.
Core Color 1 is an absolutely must have for every videomaker, that is looking for and proffessional output.
5 stars
Best regards ”
“ Let me start by saying that I really appreciate and respect MPV and I own several tutorials. Thats the good news. The bad news is, this is not their best work. Francesco is clearly a knowledgeable pro but I'm amazed at the poor audio quality. I watch/listen to these tutorials with ear buds on and its really distracting. Also, like many others who have posted here, I miss the red circle.
As to the content of the tutorial, is pretty much the MPV/Francesco quality I'm familiar with. Exception being, I was told via an email exchange with MPV that FCE and FCP are the same tutorials yet some of the material in this video doesn't seem to apply to FCE. That would have been good information to have had prior to purchase. Additionally, why not make this a part of the FC 101? Isn't capture and output pretty "101"-ish?
The standard of other MPV products are so high its difficult not to be disappointed by one thats only OK. ”
“ Great but it is not a basic tutorial to know how to in Logic with Midi, hope Martin with all his talent will proceed in a a tutorial LOGIC 100 step by step running GM in Logic
Sometime the simple task of connecting everything together it is a Monster for a beginner, really nice tutorial not basic enough to call it 101 ”
“ You guys did a great job! Very easy to follow. That's Logic in my Ear!!! ”
“ This was an interesting journey into the Color application. This has helped immensely in my learning experience. Every time I purchase something from MacProVideo, it never fails to blow me away at how you guys make learning so much fun.

“ Logic 305: WaveBurner Tutorial was amazing!
I spent hours scouring the net for "Logic Mastering Tutorials", not realizing what WaveBurner was.
It was only when i stumbled across the MPV website that i discovered it's full potential, and that it was what i had been searching for.
I bought the video and had my mix divided into separate tracks, effects added, levels fixed and project mastered that very afternoon.
The tutorial even anticipated problems that i didn't think would happen, and showed how to fix them.
Very impressed. i have bought another 2 videos!
Thanks guys =0) ”
“ Superb
I hope there are plans to continue this series of tutorials which step us all up to the next level in logic, keep it up ”
“ It's always great to see an experienced person approaching the subject of mixing. Makes it so much more hands on and understandable. That is certainly the case with this tutorial. Really useful. Perhaps a little more emphasis on arrangement and setting the track up in first instance would have added to the mix!! ”
“ this is the way to go.
don't even bother with that 1030 page manual that comes with logic 8.
you just pick up so many tips that make learning logic a pleasure.
just can't express in words how vital it is to have this tuition.
if you have any logic then logic 101 is a must. ”
“ Really excellent! This tutorial untangles the mysteries of DVD Studio Pro. It was very clear and concise, highly recommended. ”
“ As I have purchased many other Logic tutorials, I was a little hesitant to get this one. After all, how different could it be?
I am really glad I decided to go ahead and get it. So appropriately named. This really exposes and demystifies the ES2. I had no idea how powerful this engine is. Steve H. does it again. The only thing I wish he had done differently is to add practical examples to his explanations of the filter section instead of just using white noise to explain the filters. While white noise is great at graphically showing how filtering works, what are some examples of how they are or have been used to enhance musicality?
This is another STRONG video. Get it and be amazed at what the ES2 can do. ”
“ The tutorial is easy to understand, well thought out, thorough instructions, the humor was ok too. Oh and the variable speed was a great idea!!! ”
“ I thought it was a GREAT Tutorial.
Garay has a real gift for making things real.
My only one thing I would have like to see is how it works with Garageband. That is my primary program and I wanted more information on the two programs together ”
“ No matter how proficient I get on a number of audio/video softwares, I'm always intimidated by that "first look" at
