Shows just how creative you can be with samples to generate whole new sounds. You start to see that all sounds are "linked" - just depends how you process. Olav's style is a little curt, but direct.

Olaf Basowski is jovial instructor who makes it easy to follow a workflow. Enjoy this tutorial! I'm working through it for a 2nd time to internalize the finer details in electronic music production.

If you want to know what Olaf is like as a teacher, consider this: I don't like Electonica. This course didn't change that at all. But those tutorials were great to watch and soon I'll be watching them again. This course was very useful to me. Thanks Olaf!

I learnt more from this course then an audio school that cost me 8 grand the only question i have for Mr Basoski is.... whats up with the white noise? is it needed or is that just a sound choice

As usual, Basovski nails it, managing to cover a huge amount of material in a short amount of time whilst making it all seem easy.

This is by far the best tutorial I have seen on Ableton live,Reason,Reaktor etc!!.Olav is superb at showing you right throughout the course his workings,explanations,and seeing how he does things is,well.Quite inspirational.First course I didn't get bored watching.Hope there's more courses on Ableton live from Olav!!

Olav Basoski, you are a great producer. The course is a must for a new or even a pro dj where you can learn tips tricks and the way Olav takes you in a journey with his terrific voice is a cream.

There were a few really helpful tips in this course. It was nice to see a glimpse of Mr. Olav's work flow. I wish there were more A/B examples and theory behind it.. But I guess we should use our ears

Excellent introduction to making House music the way it should sound

If you ever though that simpler was good, wait till you get a taste of sampler, I do recommend first watching Richard Lainhart's Synthesis tutorials first to get the most out of this.

Definitely a great video to get started. The Traktor tutorial series should be continued with a part two though. This going more into detail with hardware of Pro and Scratch pro. Also some tricks and tips on on just general Djing like tips on blending music or something. Ha Just saying it'd be nice.

Great course Olav! Very thorough look at Sampler! I especially enjoyed the sound design section on how to make drums and synths out of any piece of a sample!

Olav did a great job as usual. The only thing that would have made this course better is if there was a downloadable demo track so you could do what he's doing. Wealth of knowledge.

Only a master can obviously make it appear so simple. The years of practice & experience packed in there are kept right under the veneer of the ease of use, but not out of reach. This is a classic, when the mix is excellent , the mastering is kept at a minimum. Olav keeps it basic, solid & professional. Respect for this great teacher_One of the best tutorial I've seen on the subject.

Great series!!! Olav is clear and concise with his explanations. Learned a lot from watching this series and didn't feel like he wasted my time.

Olav's focus here is more on mixing than mastering, but he does a great job of demoing basic tools, including the dual uses of compressors and the new glue compressor. Good EQ lessons too.

Good course, he moves quick so it flows well. Just wish we had the project files to go along with the tutorial so we could turn some knobs too.

Been very curious about switching over to Traktor. This video helped me a lot in understanding the software and making me realize how to incorporate it into my workflow.

Really great video. But I think it's more of a learning ableton live while making a "dance tune". It doesn't go into the specifics about electro music. Still a great video and you learn a lot :)

Great tutorial. Olav builds a song (remix of his own) from beginning to end. I enjoy his creation process, but he uses some 3rd party plugins that I didn't have, although I was able to get the demos. He also gives lots of tips and tricks to help you out in your own creation process.

Olav is a genius, can't say more, explains things in a fun and clear way, i'll thank him personally if i'll became someone in the industry.

Olav is always great to listen too simply because he knows his stuff. Fantastic layout of the tutorial. Explained in a very intuitive manner. The use of the F1 controller made sense as he demonstrated along with the software.

I'm enjoying this very much. While I'm not into this style of EDM, it still sets a very strong foundation for all 4/4-based electronic music; and you can easily see how your genre's needs will be tweakable/adjustable via Live's controls and effects. Very easy to understand and follow along. The only clip I find curious is the side-chaining tutorial. There is an even better, faster way to do this in Live (at least from v.7+) But it's another example of how there's always more than one way...

Really liked it, listened to all of it and learned a lot. I also like Olav and like to listen to him. I will probably go through it again. But it could have used some editing. He paused to think of things, made mistakes and corrected them and sometime seemed to think up things on the fly. All of that is OK but it seems it wouldn't be much of a problem to edit it out.

This is a great bag of TNT for anybody producing music with Logic Pro 9. This is a must watch for anyone who wants to spend more time in creative mode. A lot of options and solutions for speeding up workflow. Don't be fooled by the title... This tutorial will benefit Logic users working in any genre.

I love that the Traktor Kontrol F1 is shown in conjunction with the videos. :) I am on lesson 20, and everything has been explained very clearly! There is only one minor thing that I am confused about. In lesson 20, It is mentioned that you can "Unload" your Remix Decks from the Preferences menu, but I can't seem to find it! He normally walks you through how to change the settings and this is the first time he hasn't. It's probably right in front of me but I just don't see it! Anyways that's su...

Lots of hidden hints within hints. Well presented material and delivered with entertaining humour. I keep referring back to it - have lots of little bookmarks and notes. Worth the money.

Very good review, teaches you the layout of Traktor with all the capabilities it has that can help you mix. It doesn't seem as easy to use as it would if you had the NI mixer et al. with it but that is nothing against how Olav put it over!

Excellent! Starts with a very average and crowded mix, and with compression and eq things get better and come alive. Watch a pro tweak every sound to sit in the mix. There are very good "how not to do things" tips also. Common mistakes explained. By the end you'll see, and hear, the basics of mixing, I know the title says electronica, but most of techniques apply to just about any music. The teacher has a good voice and moves at a nice pace, keeping things interesting.

I have a few of Olavs tutorials,and although I have only viewed this one only once,its another excellent one. The overall tutorial was very good As I mentioned in my other reviews,I can take away some of the tips and techniques in this Remixing tutorial and apply some of those. I must say I am a bit dissapointed with this tutorial. For me it was hard because he did things his own way, and I was not able to follow along. A lot of us don't have an easy remix pack like he does, and we have to chop things up, and add eq to tracks just to prepare the to be remix. I think this could have been a lot better.

Superbly explained, some great tricks of his own included which is always helpful,not just showing you how it works but how he uses it is a valuble thing. i can honestly say i know all about Sampler now, I've been using it and can fly round it in seconds. Thanks for this great training! I have learned a lot of detailed stuff regarding sampler. I really like trainings from Olav he explains everything really detailed and with a lot of fun. Sampler is indeed one of the most misjudged sampler actually available and for me personally a good addition to Kontakt as it can things which Kontakt can't and vice versa.

A simply stunning, no non-sense tutorial that should be required viewing for anyone looking to fine tune their skills while speeding up production. Olav really knows his stuff & I loved the laid back, intimate, every workday studio feel of this vid. Looking over a master's shoulder, wanting to catch every hint I could, specially when the pace was accelerated. Great remix video! Some helpful tips n' tricks with reverb buildups and making smooth transitions. I think the most helpful part was his way of showing how to keep things interesting with automation.

I have been a Fan of Olav,s music since 1992 when i heard Windows by Sil, which remains one of my all time favourite house tracks. I never thought i would get to see Olav in action remixing tracks and giving tips and tricks to his workflow. A fantasic insight into house music remixing and the power of Ableton Live 8, by one of the greatest producers in dance music.

Great tutorial. I really like Olav's relaxed and humorous style. There were many useful tips for me as a remixer and I did benefit a lot by watching this tutorial. Toward the end the pace was a bit too fast but I guess Olav just wanted to finish the turorial already.

Olav builds a dance track from scratch, revealing ways to construct drum kits and sounds, processing, mixing and jamming the track into a final arrangement. All this is well paced with clear instructions blended with a sense of humour and ease. One more big fan of Olav. I could be spending $1000 for 12 weeks of Ableton online at Berklee... or $25 for my half-priced download version of Olav's videos. I copy his process very closely and then I go back and do it my own way. This video is so clear... it's easy to follow the step by step process. The videos are really good. What i am looking forward is vidoes on how to built a complete House Trac with good energy ... and pumpy basslines , also how to use the synth. Would appriciate if you make is downloadable for 64bit OS.

I am still a Logic Pro 8 user, and I am still about a half way through the tutorials, but already just about every section had something I can use and work on the LP8. So far I really liked the Ringing EQ Technique, and also very clear explanations of all of the Compressor types a d good uses. The compressor section should not be missed! Look forward for more from Olav.

This was simply excellent. Not only are you watching careful construction of basic sounds through the use of two of Ableton's best synths, but you are also witnessing a very subtle hint to efficient workflow. I'm not going to give it away here because you should watch! ...But be aware that Olav is helping you work with purpose as opposed to the usual "noodling" about with synths most of us have done at one time or another. Great tutorial. I don't know what it is about the way Mr. Basoski teaches but it's very engaging. The information in this tutorial is all rock solid; I knew about a bit of it beforehand, but even in those case I got something out of it. The explanation of FM synthesis is the best simple explanation I've seen of the concept. My only complaint about his previous tutorial was that it got a little aimless towards the end... that is not a problem in this tutorial. It is all killer and no filler.

Really good tutorial. I don't use Ableton Live but it was easy to tranfer the same techniques to Logic. Olav is a great instructor and makes awesome sounds too. I would have liked a couple more examples of pad sounds, and it could have been a bit longer, but its great value for money and goes really well with the Richard Lainhart tuotrials too.

Olav you made synthesis simple, fast & easy, revealing Ableton's incredible potential for any musical genre, keep'em coming! I like the sketch first refine later approach, that's the best.

Hell yeah! It's so nice to have a no nonsense guided tour of a true pro's workflow in Electronica. It's pretty easy to like Olav's attitude and although it should be superficial... his voice and accent just make it more enjoyable to plow through some fairly meaty concepts in record time. I can't believe the difference between the track I just finished vs. the track I did just before getting Olav's point of view.

I really enjoyed the Making Electronic Dance Music with Olav Basoski, but i knew a lot about what he was doing in the videos. Although i did pick up some cool new tips and it was very good to get inside the mind of a top class producer, but i was wonder if there will be more very advanced videos coming out from Olav? I just saved myself hours in my daily workflow with this tutorial. Not only that, all of the compressor tutorials have helped me take my mixes to another level. FYI, I don't do electronica music, but after watching the sample videos, I felt these tips could be applied to Pop and Hip-Hop music as well.

Logic 404 - Mixing Electronic is a MUST for anyone using Logic to Produce Electronica Music. At first I was quite hesitant to buy any of the MACPROVIDEO range but after taking the plunge… I'm VERY glad I did. I really enjoyed this tutorial. If like me, purchasing third party plugins can be a bit of an expense that you can't afford right now, then this tutorial will really help you to utilize Logics plugins, especially compression.

I have 19 tutorials from macprovideo so not everything in this was new. But a lot of it was. I was hoping there would be even more workflow tips like those given in the preview videos. Quick little shortucts is what i was expecting. But it actually felt more like a TNT series in that it went over a lot of creative things rather than just ways to get around the program. Like a number of other reviewers I found this tutorial excellent. Having only recently started using Logic I found the workflow tips extremely useful and relevant to my style of music production. Olav's presentation style is both educational and inspirational. Full marks, another quality tutorial product.

Another great tutorial from Olav and the explanation of things is excellent for both the beginner and experienced viewer. Olav really is great at doing these tutorials and makes them fun to watch. My only niggle would be that the audio quality of the tutorials sounds slightly distorted to me compared to the other ones I have bought so for this reason only I give it a 4 star rather than the 5 it deserves.

Overall good tutorial, but compared to the 20 +/- videos I've watched from this site (mainly by Steve H. and Martin), the two I just picked up (this and Confessions of a DnB...) felt slightly lightweight. Whereas the others were meat and potatoes, this felt like nouvelle cuisine - still tasty as hell, but less on the plate....

Absolutely Amazing. A wealth of experience and information to improve not only your workflow, but your overall sound / mixes. I find myself watching many of the videos repeatedly and really look forward to more!!!

I love all the Logic tutorials. However Olav's have been especially useful for me. I think partly because Olav's sound as a producer & dj is very similar to mine. This tut is worth every cent! Really helped me out especially with workflow and the steps needed to actually get to a good polished product. The lessons learned I can apply to all styles of music, not just electronic. In future I'd like to see a series on producing tips and tricks showing us how to do ie parallel compression, gating tricks with clips, various sidechaining tricks (just to name a few). Please guys, i've bought almost all your tuts on Logic 8 already...I need more! :)

Very good and interesting. Would be nice to see more videos especially from other kinds of electronic producers (soulful house, deep house etc) and maybe also a more in deepth explanation in some cases.

This is an awesome training video and my mixes have vastly improved since watching it. Olav has a great style and explains things very clearly. I would definitely like to see more of these mixing tutorials. Each artists uses differnet techniques and this is really helpful to us novices. How about some chill out or deep house or even Jazz artists. I immediately bought the David Isaacs one after and that had some really useful stuff in it too.

This selection of tutorials is definately a must for anyone entering the world of electronica mixing. Olav goes at a steady pace and takes you through how he would tackle such a project using logic pro 8 and it's built in sounds an plugins. It doesn't go into depth about using effects, automation etc but does touch on them and gives you a good idea of when to apply them in your project. I found this tutorial most enlightening. This focused approach provides me with a good overview of how to mix house music and goes into enough detail to help me move further with my production endeavors. Olav also provides some history about where ceetain techniques came from as well as pointing out some common pitfalls. I would love to see a similar tutorial focused on Minimal Techno/House which is more my direction.

Overall, i liked this tutorial. It was cool to get "inside Olav's head" & see how he attacks a dance song. I was a little surprised to see how simple it was to achieve some of the effects I have been curious about. I think some of the gurus on the Logic User Group (LUG) would have some issue with the concept of "mixing to the master bus compressor," but it actually made sense to me. I can't wait to implement what I saw in my next project. Thanks!

This is an excellent tutorial! I found it insightful and interesting! I was particularly excited by the chapters on busses. It was good to find something here that explained how to use them for adding effects to multiple instruments through one bus. I also found the mastering stuff useful as I was not sure how to create masters and add mastering EQ and Compression to all tracks it's great to have professional tutors right in your computer screen, up close and personal. I immensely enjoyed Olav Basoski's tutorial on mixing electronica. I'm into all kinds of music and I loved his take on mixing. I would recommend this to anyone - even newbies to Logic like myself because it gives you a chance to see how a good mixing workflow evolves, along with some very valuable tips (eq, compression & limiting, side chaining etc). But most of all I liked the casual nature of Olav - I hope he makes some more tutorials!

I checked all over the web for a mixing tutorial for LP 8, and glad that someone posted a message about MacProVideo.COM. The training is paced very well, and right down to the core of all the information I needed to tackle the busses, EQs, effects and more modern tricks like side-chain compressions, something I was not even aware of. This is my favorite MacProVideo-Tutorial so far. It offers so many helpful hints to make electron dance music productions sound great with Logic. Olav B. has done a great job and he seemed to enjoy making the tutorial as much as I watched it.

I have no background in electronica, but I enjoyed "Mixing R&B" and learned some very useful approaches from that, so I bought this one. I've watched the video twice now and enjoyed it a lot. It's well-paced and Olaf has an excellent rapport as a trainer. In many ways, his message mirrors David Isaac's--use EQ, pan, level, and reverb to aurally separate the voices; hearing that same message in two contexts suggests that this is the foundation of mixing. That in itself is useful information. ...

I have learned quite a bit of watching this tutorial. Especially the part with sends and busses, plus sidechaining been very usefull. How to use the different effects. I like the long videos, instead of the short ones.

No better way to learn than from the pros and producers who are influential because they set the bar high.

Although Electronica is definately not my thing this tutorial was a really good, plenty of useful stuff that I could apply to my work. And I liked Olavs tone too. He comes over very well. A shame he's not into acoustic stuff!!

This was one of the best tutorials (for Logic users wanting to create electronic house music) I have come across. Obviously being a wicked Tech/Electro house producer himself, Olav knows his stuff. I think people who want to make all kinds of electronic based music will benefit from an incite into how Mr Basoski does things!!!!

Mixing Electronica 404 is clear concise and easy to follow. The gentlemen teaching the class on this DVD is very thorough. He makes sure you understand exactly what to do inside of Logic itself.

Logic 404 Mixing Electronica is a great start in learning how to mix initially electronica but you can apply this to other instrumental music forms. The next one in the series could be 405 Arranging Electronica with the various genre included.

How I managed to get to grips with Logic 8 in such a short time I don't know. I could not of done it without the help of some of the Mac pro video tutorials especially this one. If you are a newb looking for good, clear, pro electronica mixing tips and knowhow, this is for you.

Really handy. Showed me the way of doing things.. in a way I hadn't thought of before. You can tell the teacher's really experienced at what he does. All and all it gave a clearer insight of Logic's posssibilties, and it's fun too. Am I getting paid for this?!

It's always great to see an experienced person approaching the subject of mixing. Makes it so much more hands on and understandable. That is certainly the case with this tutorial. Really useful. Perhaps a little more emphasis on arrangement and setting the track up in first instance would have added to the mix!!

Logic 404: Mixing Electronica delivered as advertised. Very useful and simple to understand. If you are an expert at mixing you won't need this but if you are a novice or even, like me, you have been mixing your own music for a while this will upgrade your skills and introduce you to some new ones.

The tutorial was done very well. His expertise and knowledge is great. The one thing I enjoyed was the last part of the tutorial which is were he talked very briefly on the layout of the track which was something that I wish he talked about in depth. Also I thought he was going to talk about how he makes his music from scratch, instead he had his track laid out in advance, which was disappointing to me. I just recently purchased this tutorial and watched the entire thing twice in one sitting. I can't explain in words how blown away i am. what i learned in that tutorial in 2 hours or so completely washed away the last two years of incorrect information i was learning from friends/fellow producers. he made it seem so easy and obvious with being arrogant. if i had known what i was going to learn, i would have gladly paid $100 for this same tutorial. Out of all the videos I have purchased and watched so far, the Logic 404 Mixing tutorials were the most important. It doens't matter how good you are at making music if you can't mix it down correctly. I was able to improve my sound qulaity immediately after watching these tutprials. I highly recommend them.

It was very educational. Olav talks thru some of the essential things in digital mixing, and doing so in a very nice and pedagogic way. I would have wished for a little more in-depths on certain points, and also for a slightly more complex track to work with. All in all, a very good tutorial. I downloaded this tutorial to see if I was missing anything in my knowledge in mixing & mastering. I have learnt some nice little tips in using busses and eq and on the whole I think Olav's style of teaching is less like being at school and more like a friend teaching. I learned a lot from this tutorial. Good pacing and delivery - in the same league as Eric Persing's videos for Spectrasonics (that's a compliment as they are about the only time I preferred a vendor's video to the manual). More like this, please.

This is an outstanding product. I'm not into Electronica as a style per se but mixing is mixing. I learned a great deal about placement and imaging as well as EQing bass against the kick. When to compress and what to compress. Expansion. I could go on for ever. Bottom line, I was instantly able to incorporate Olav's techniques into music of a very different style, successfully.

This is a really good tutorial as Olav works with the same tune from start to finish. You see and hear how he turns it from bad to good. As the tutorial progresses the approach to mixing is set out in steps that are easy to understand and can be used on your own Logic projects. This tutorial really helps if you are looking for a process to follow when mixing and bouncing music. A great tutorial. Easy to follow with simple explainations on why each step is taken. Olav offers a wonderful insight into mixing the Electronica genre and this video provides the foundations that encourage further experimentation and exploration of the tools within Logic. So far this is the most robust, clear concise and valuable video tutorial ever. If you want to learn how to improve your sonic landscape, this is the ticket. I own most of your videos and always get some good info from them. This is the best $35 dollars I ever spent. Look for my artist at the Grammys this year.

Great tutorial! If anyone is ever confused if they are doing something right or wrong this tutorial will put you on the right track. I recommend coming out with a in depth sound design tutorial that covers tips and tricks when making kick drums, basses, routing capabilities, etc.. A tutorial that demonstrates the creative capabilities of logic.

That was great for me. I am a video editor one shop man. Audio knowledge is more difficult to garner than video. This course gave me some great tips for mixing that I have already apply. this dvd is great good tips and olav make us see the way he work but i still think that he use just logic vst and plugs in the demo and he probably never use in real thought he will talk about it a bit more even if he do a bit at the end he dont talk about the vst. one thing is sure it s that with this dvd you are far to make sound as good as him.

I thought that Logic 404: Mixing Electronica was very a good way to teach the use (or Deeper use) of logic. The benefit is twofold for beginners in that they gain insight on the use of logic, and a rare glimpse inside the process of an accomplished mixing engineer. For those who have been in the business for awhile, there is a great deal to learn about logic in this video with a slide towards mixing. I look forward to more videos of this type. I've watched a lot of mixing tutorials on DVD and a lot of those were lame(you know who you are) because of the music presented. This is the best tutorial on electronic music/music.. If you listen to the unprocessed demo then it sounds like a bedroom demo but it's proven on this video that processing it with eq, compression makes that demo cd/radio/club ready.. Olav almost makes it seem easy......well, at least to get things rolling. This tutorial provides a real solid basis for those trying to unravel the enigma that is mixing. This is more than just a Logic tutorial, and although it's named Mixing Electronica, there is a lot to learn if you're into learn about mixing any genre of music. Excellent in all aspects, from the simplicity of the examples to Olav's way of teaching. I say it's worth the whole price of it.

Awesome stuff! i learned more in this tutorial than i have in ages. MPV definately know what us wannabe producers need. This video is excellent. I haven't finished it yet, but so far it's been really fun to watch. If you are into electronic music producing and wondered how you get that full club sound. This is the video to get! Olav takes you thru organizing your mix by grouping and using busses. Put effects on them. Use sidechaining to keep your bassdrum pumping etc. Now how about one on producing? :) Rick
