Hi, I ve just registered for the online pro membership.
The only way to view tutorials online seems to be using the Nedweb player. I am trying to view some logic tutorials on nedweb.
But I ve found that the screen size of the tutorials is quite small (even on my 20 inch display) and I am not able to change the image size or make it larger. Also the image resolution is not very high. So it makes it all the more difficult to read text in the video and follow what is going on in such a small viewing area.

Is there a way I can increase the size of the viewing area of the nedweb player?

I have tried using two different browsers, Safari and Mozilla Firefox. But cant increase the viewing area in either.

I also have the Ned 3.2.2 installed on my desktop already, since I bought some HD tutorials.
Is there a way I can use the Ned 3.2.2 instead of the Nedweb player to view the online tutorials?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Bolshevik,

Welcome to the macProVideo.com forums :)

The Streaming service (online access) and HD download service (using NED 3.2 for Mac) are quite separate.

The online service can only utilise your browser and the downloads must be downloaded and played using NED.

For more info on this please read the 'About' page:
http://www.macprovideo.com/about/nedweb

If you need to increase the size of the video window you can try using a lower Display resolution or even zoom in (Control and scroll wheel)... but this won't improve the image resolution.

I'm surprised to hear that the resolution is not satisfactory - could you tell me which tutorial you are watching.

Many thanks
Rounik

I'm watching the Color 1.5 tutorial and it's pretty impossible to see any of the text in the menus in the app. Zooming in (control-scroll) doesn't help because the image size is just too small. TExt is pixelated.

I agree totally. I was thinking about changing from NED/Mac to the web-version, but the image quality is not good enough. the degree of compression is too high (why???) and the total image too small. Watching the tutorials with this quality for some hours would be a nightmare. I am really a fan of your products but this does not work.

I'm glad I noticed this thread before making a decision on purchasing a streaming subscription or downloadable the Core Color 1.5 tutorial.

The cost of the streaming tutorials is pretty reasonable but I think MacPro could do better in their description of their offerings--and calling them all variations of "NED" doesn't help differentiate them, nor does the indiscriminate use of the term "HD", which is meaningless in differentiating the streaming content from the downloadable content since the streaming content is higher rez than SD NTSC and could, thus, also be called "HD"--none of which is relevant to **screen captures**.

Anyway, the key factor is that the downloadable content is generally native resolution screen capture, and the streaming content is down rezed screen captures. And screen captures down rez like--well, let's just say they down rez poorly. It is manageable with many of the tutorials, but not with Core Color because of the very high minimum screen requirements for the app and the fine detail in the UI.

I'd love to see MacPro explain and differentiate their product line better on their website and consider dumping Core Color as a streaming offering or put a warning that the offering is often unusably illegible. At least MPD does have previews. Even so, I'm not sure if that is sufficient justification for posting an illegible tutorial.

Yes, I've noticed the same screen size issue with the Adobe Lightroom tutorials.

Any planned fixes for this? I think the subscribtion is great, but not quite there for resolution.

I bought 11 cs5 tutorials knowing I stream since were looking into why ned won't run proper on my xp box
the simple solution make possible to collapse the left side to view the movie
and expand after the movie played
increasing screen size does not help.

I second this... the resolution of the videos provided with the online service is not great. Depending on the app the tutorial is about, it can get quite tough.

Would be great to provide better resolutions.

In the meantime if you could implement a Next/Previous video shortcut (eg assigned to left and right arrows of the keyboard), that would help browsing the different videos without having to zoom in/out every time between each videos.

Thanks.
