Hi
I just started using Garageband 09'. I bought Sting's Message in a bottle lesson and can't find a way to change my instrument sound. My guitar sound is awful. instead of a clean channel there are too many effects.

I couldn't find a way to clear and change my instrument's setting.

any idea?
Thanks

Micha

Hi Micha,

I've not been using the Lessons feature in GB a lot - and don't have Sting's Message in a Bottle... but have you tried the "Setup" and "Mixer" links at the top right of the Lessons screen?

Under 'Setup' you can change the input device and Monitor settings... under 'Mixer' you may have access to the Track list and GB's Mixer.

Hope that helps

Thank Rounik

Yes I tried the mixer and Setup but there is nothing there to adjust my guitar sound. I also don't use the lessons much but wanted to tryout something more advance like Message In a Bottle.

I have recorded in the past using Fortex 4 track on types so all this digital recording is too much to "swallow". it will probably take me longer to leran Garagband then actually play guitar...-:)

Cheers

Micha

Hey Micha,

There is the option to "Open in Garageband". If you choose this then you'd be able to adjust the sound of the Guitar easily... though you wouldn't then be very close to Sting anymore!!

Hmmm... I'll look into this during the week.

Digital recording is a big jump from good old 4-tracks. But stick with it. The rewards can be extremely satisfying. As with all computer programs, there is a learning curve, but once you get the basics then the rest can become enjoyable!

Infact I should mention, a good friend of mine, JF Brissette, created the Garageband '09 tutorial here:
http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/garageband09101
He breaks down everything into an easy to understand and follow step-by-step approach. I'd highly recommend it if you're starting your digital music journey with Garageband!

If you choose not to purchase the tutorial, not probs, pop back here and we'll do our best to answer any questions you have.

:)

Hi Micha,

Just done a quick browse around and it looks like in iLife '09 it's not possible to change guitar amp simulation within Lessons... which is a shame.

Thanks
