I am using a Presonus Firestudio and a MacBook Pro. I purchased an inexpensive wired lavolier mike. It does not seem to work with the Firestudio and Garage Band. The mike works fine when plugged directly into the MacBook Pro.

Any advise?????

Thanks.

Martan :)

Hi Martan,

How did you connect the lavalier mic to the Firestudio? What adaptors are you using from the Lav to the input of the FS?

Is the lavalier battery powered...?

Thanks

Thanks for responding.

The lavolier has a mini-plug connected to a 1/4" plug directly into the Presonus Firestudio.

Hi Martan,

A few more questions:

1. So, is it battery powered?

2. Please give as many technical details about the mic as possible... that will make it easier for me to research it...

3. Also, have you tried plugging it into different inputs on the Firestudio?

4. Which Firestudio do you have?

5. Does the Firestudio and GB work when using other microphones?

6. In GB have you definitely got the correct input (relates to the Firestudio input) selected?

7. On the FS do you have Phantom power on? What about the Gain for the input have you double-checked this?

8. In GB, is the Firestudio the selected device?

Thanks

Hi Pianoman,

Thanks for the extra info... It should be working just fine... Do you have the opportunity to try out the Lav mic on another interface... in fact, are the other mics you're using successfully with the FS lav or studio condensor mics?

Have you tried a different 1/8" to 1/4" adaptor?

I would also contact Presonus & Audio Technica Support directly.

Do let me know how you get on...

Thanks
Rounik

I don't have another firewire interface. The other mikes are working fine.

Have you tried a different 1/8" to 1/4" adaptor?

Yes.

I would also contact Presonus & Audio Technica Support directly.

I've sent them an email.

I have a feeling that the 1/4" connector on the Firestudio doesn't supply enough power to hear the lavalier mike. Do you have any advise of a way to boost the power of the mike?

Thanks.

Hi Piano Man,

Is the Firestudio Project plugged in to the power socket (or running Bus powered via Firewire)?

Try connecting it to the Mains using the power adaptor if you haven' already...

I'm going to try a different approach. I purchased a wireless lavalier mike which has an XLR connector. I should have the mike by Friday.

Thanks for your help.
