I have a problem with a project I haven't worked on in about a month. When trigger sound with my midi controller, there a delay in the signal. i don't know why that has started. I tried getting rid of all the plugins and that didn't work. I don't why I would have to do that because I have delay compensation selected, but I tried it anyway. I tried re-saving the project using a different name and also say a copy on two different external hard drives and on my computer, but i I still can't get any results. The beat that i want to work is not finished, and right now a can't get a good feel with a rhythm because of the signal being delayed. what can i do?

Hey dwalu,

Have you lowered your I/O Buffer setting?

Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio [Device]

Lower the i/o setting to something like 128. test it out and see if that helps.

The I/O Buffer setting is a global parameter - so it's not saved with every project. Instead, if you make a change it will affect all projects you open until you change it again.

(Lower value = less latency / delay, but more strain on the cpu). The trick is to find a balance that works for you.

Let us know if that helps.

Cheers

The lowering of the I/O setting did not work, plus it was set low to begin with. I don't know why I would have to do that because compensation is always set to all.

Have you checked the delay parameter in the Inspector?

Can you provide a few more details about your Logic setup (version, what instrument you're playing...) and you mac setup (os version, mac etc).

Does this issue affect different projects too?

This is only happening for this project alone, no other project, I just noticed something very important. While I listened to the playback, I noticed the marker line thing that scrolls along as you listen to the beat was further ahead of what I was actualing hearing. I would say about 1/4 of a second ahead. I've had this problem with two other projects in the past and I was never able to fix this problem, so I had to scrap the whole project which I don't want to do because i really like this beat.

Hi,

Are you absolutely sure you don't have any plugins (especially on your outputs ?) Some plugins (like the Adaptive Limiter ) can create latency.

Hey dwalu,

if you really like the beat (and you created it in ultrabeat) you can save the ultrabeat setting. Also you can export the MIDI files to start a new project.

However, this sounds very odd - especially considering it's happened before & it's not an I/O/ setting thing, or a delay value in the Inspector area on the track or the region.

If you like I'll take a look at the project if you send it via www.sendspace.com and then post the link here.

Before sending it, zip up the project folder.

Cheers

So how I zip it up and send it to you?

Hey Dwalu,

Find the project folder in the Finder.

Ctrl-click on the folder and select "compress "

A new .zip file should be created.

Go to www.sendspace.com

select the options to upload the zip file you've created.

You don't need my email or yours (although this might be a good idea if/when you want to delete it later) and once it's finished uploading you'll be given a web address for the file.

Come back here and post the link.

Cheers
