Quick query.

I recently purchased NI Kontakt 5. As I am sure you are aware, its not exactly user friendly for the total beginner.

I was wondering would the Kontakt 4 tutorials still be relevant despite the update to Kontakt 5?

Yes, the Kontakt 4 tutorials will still be relevant. Most of the interface is still the same as 4.

So by watching the Kontakt 4 tutorial explaining the interface and features and tips, you will still gain a good understanding of the Kontakt instrument.
