Trying to select a part of a bigger audio

So I'm trying to use Noise Reduction on a particular audio file.

However, the problem is that the audio is part of a bigger audio file.

So when I double click the audio, it displays the entire audio it's originally from, and when I try to implement some sound reduction, STP crashes.

I can use FCP and Right click send file to STP. When i use Noise reduction that way, it works. But I'd rather use STP>

Any ideas?

What is the format, bit depth and sample rate of the audio file?

Have you split the audio segment into it's own file to apply noise reduction to it in STP?
