My issue is exactly as the title suggests. Soundtrack pro will not install properly even though the whole install sequence runs smoothly without an issue, once I go to open Soundtrack Pro it gives me an error message saying
"Soundtrack pro cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Soundtrack Pro works with this version of Mac OSX. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OSX."
It is a brand new mac as of about 3 days ago so i can't imagine the OS too old....
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Damian

Hi msandm,

What version of SoundTrack Pro (i.e. Logic Studio or Final Cut Studio) did you try to install?

Also, have you run "Software Update" from the Apple menu in the top left of your screen?

If not, please run Software Update. Once the process has finished click on "Details" and make sure all Pro Kit Updates and SoundTrack Pro / Logic and Final Cut Pro Updates are installed.

Thanks
Rounik

Ok.
So I did that and it all went smoothly but I didn't see an option to check what it had done and soundtrack to will still work.
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Damian.

Hi Damian,

Sorry. Not sure if I read your last post correctly or not... Is STP 3 working ok?

Once you click on "Details" once Software Update has scanned your system for Apple apps and their versions... it'll ask you whether you wish to view details or install the updates automatically. I always recommend viewing the details and from the list deciding whether you wish to install certain updates or not.

So, did you install all the latest updates for your Mac through 'Software Update'?

OK. One more question. Did you install Final Cut Studio before Logic Studio?

Have you tried running "Repair Permissions"?

Is there anything else you've installed or that's happened during install you can tell us? Any small clues might help - as in my experience - installing and running Sound Track Pro 3 should result in no issues.

Thanks
Rounik

I've had the same exact issue as msandm. Soundtrack Pro 3 may have installed somewhat, but it just won't open.

I had noticed that Compressor 3.5 was greyed out during the install. When I moused over it, the tip said that I had a newer version of it already installed. I had Garageband '11 on my Mac mini already. Could STP3 be looking for an older version of Compressor?

Don't have it in front of me (on a PC at the moment), but the details box said something about the reason being that there was "no image found" of a file or whatever.

Hey.
I feel your pain but I just discovered something amazing on another Logic forum and it worked for me: It says this...

"If you right click on the Install Logic Studio shortcut and choose "Show Original", it should show you the hidden installer folder. Inside the Packages folder you should find "PSTSharedA.pkg" and "ProAppsMetadataSupport.pkg". Try installing both of these package installers and see if that fixes it. This is what worked for me."

I did exactly that, found both of those files on the Logic Install DVD and install both of these files individually and clicked on STPro and ta dah, it opened. Magic.
Hope this helps....

Thanks for sharing this solution Damian!

Wonder what causes this issue in the first place...

Damian,

Thanks so much for sharing this. I followed it exactly as stated and STP3 opened up without a problem.

No idea what the bug was, but glad everything is working ok. All the best...
Sean
