Quite frankly your backing for Aperture is a bore - I don't know any digital photographers who take it seriously and it has some serious flaws.
But I do know many photographers who are wedded to Lightroom (yes it exists for OS X) and in my humble opinion it is a more professional product.

I presume macProVideo is a commercial concern - you could make a lot more money backing the right horse - unfortunately yo put your money on a carthorse!

Boyers,

Instead of shouting "Give us Lightroom!" and bad-mouthing Aperture (which I personally use and find just right for what I do), how about re-posting a tutorial suggestion for Lightroom 2 since yours is already over a year old. Actually, there are pro photographers that use both apps for their respective strengths and some that use one or the other. It's all a matter of personal preference. Don't you agree?

Anyway, best of luck to you. Enjoy Lightroom 2 (I'll keep on enjoying Aperture).

J.F.

Hi Boyers.

Sounds like you are quite the Adobe Lightroom fan! It certainly is a great application, and you may want to contact Adobe directly and give them praise, or send them a thank-you card and small gift. Both Aperture and Lightroom have their pluses, and MANY working pro's rely on both. It seems to be a matter of personal preference. If you would like to see Lightroom training produced, just post a tutorial suggestion, and we'll see what we can do!

Thanks.
Alex.

May I suggest you check your archives of emails - I've been requesting Lightroom Tutorials for over a year, but as usual, nothing has happened.

Aperture is OK - but it has major weaknesses and from the photographers I know, it is in a minority by around 5:1. I've tried both (unlike some ranters) and I wouldn't even contemplate entrusting my workflow to Aperture.

I'm not bad-mouthing Aperture - if you read 90% of professional reviews, Aperture comes a very weak second with some horrific workflow issues. From the professional photographers I'm in contact with (I have actually used both programs), 75% are using Lightroom and prefer it against Aperture.
That isn't bad-mouthing, it is simple maths.

Hi Boyers,

I have found your thread in the "Suggested Training" forum from 31 August 2007.

Please can you add further posts regarding your wish for a Lightroom tutorial to that thread!
http://www.macprovideo.com/forum/general/suggested-training&id=3441

It's better NOT to send tutorial suggestions by email more than once, and it's more efficient for everyone concerned if you post in the correct forum as there is more chance others will be attracted to contributing to your thread and if there is demand for a training suggestion it will be noted.

Furthermore please do consider the opening statement of this thread:

"Quite frankly your backing for Aperture is a bore - I don't know any digital photographers who take it seriously and it has some serious flaws."

It comes across as insulting to users who value Aperture 2 (of which there are many). The tone on the MacProVideo forums are generally friendly and helpful...

So if you feel that Lightroom is a better program, that's fine, but there's no need to throw arbitrary numbers (75%...), subjective "facts" and talk down to the community of Aperture 2 users by calling their application a "carthorse" amongst other things.

I think if you concentrate on Lightroom's merits rather than another products' deficiencies it would help your cause more.

Regardless, your tutorial suggestion has been noted.

Thanks,
Rounik

Why, since Apple come with Intel lot of Window boys switch for a Mac this first start with iTunes and the ability to work in both world with Camp but the fact if you work 10 years in Window and you switch for a Mac forget the Window app and learn the Mac app for good first and after that you can talk, i am telling you this because i was with Mac for over ten years i start with Aperture 1 and now the 2, after 3 years i still learned new things about this marvelous app and my Pro pictures had never be so nice and easy to proceed, be a Mac not a in between. Like those guy who tried to Have Logic to be the same has ProTools. So next time be precise about your owned problem and perhaps we can help in a -Mac- ProVideo way
