I have spent some time looking for the method to move images from a project into an album...for instance...downloaded into a broad project, but want to break into sub-projects....how do i select the images and move into their respective folders.
do i go into the folder on the hard drive, or is there a way in aperture..
for instance
project
family/ the main folder
wedding/sub-folder in that category
Brad,
Sorry for the delayed response but I have been away in California.
It's impossible to move images out of the main project into various project elements such as albums, you can create as many albums as you like with any of the images from that project but those images will always exist within that top level project as well. This allows the same image from a project to appear in a multitude of albums etc.
To select images in a project for a new album, simply use any one of the selection methods covered at the beginning of the video in the Import section (Section 3, #24: click and drag a grey box around the images you would like, click and hold the shift key to select a series or command click for various images), then go up to the file menu and select "create album from selection". And a new album will appear filled with your selected images below the project it was created from. Or you can perform a search at that particular project level, in the browser with the criteria that meets the type of album you want to build (Section 16, #168). You can also create an empty album at that project level through the file menu or by control clicking in the projects panel and fill it with images manually.
If you have a folder structure already built on your hard drive that you would like to import as is into aperture you can also do that under file>import folders (review section 4).
A common trait in Aperture is that there is always many different ways to do one thing, so it depends what you want to do.
