A recent review by Jonas Nilsson noted a couple of topics he'd like to see covered in the next set of Dreamweaver tutorials including templates and more advanced subjects such as MySQL and PHP.

I only uncovered the tip of the iceberg-sized feature set in Dreamweaver CS4 101. Besides Dreamweaver templates, library items, and includes, there's also Web widgets (like jQuery calendars), additional Spry elements (XML/HTML data, widgets, behaviors and effects), additional media (audio, video, and other docs) and so much more. And, as Jonas suggested, there is the whole dynamic side of Dreamweaver from ASP to ColdFusion to PHP/MySQL.

The real question is: what would you like to see? Let me know what you think!

Hi Joe,
Some topics I'd like to see include, seeing as we are here, forums :) also ASP.NET, C#, SQL, eCommerce, creating mashups with external dynamic data (meta-search for example), RSS, XML, PHP/MySQL, more on CSS, Spry (including its relation to javascript), templates, membership and newsletters, er ... thats all that comes to mind just now, and it is 3:50am so that will do for now.

If you could have that for me by Tuesday, that would be great. (or an estimate of the next likely release)

Thanks.

That's quite a wish list you've got there! Tuesday may be tough, but late Wednesday should work ;-).

Seriously, I hear ya - you want to do more, a lot more, and hook into all that Dreamweaver can control. And Dreamweaver can control a great deal. Of the topics you mentioned, only ASP.NET and C# are not really in the ballpark. With the release of Dreamweaver CS4, Adobe decided to cut support for .NET and associated languages. They recognized that since .NET is a Microsoft technology they'd never be able to keep up with the changes.

That still leaves a ton of related technologies, including PHP which is the fastest growing and most used of all the server models.

Thanks for the ideas - keep 'em coming!

Best - Joe

How about a series on doing lots of stuff with CSS for directly in Dreamweaver without much coding involved targeted at the non-programmer who knows Dreamweaver.
