Apologies but I'm being dumb. I've just devoured the excellent tutorial series on Encoding Video for Adobe CS4. In it, much mention is made of Robert's bitrate calculator. The touble is I can't find anywhere where I can download it. I've found the older version associated with CS3 but not the newer version shown in the tutorials. Anyone know where I can download it?

OK it looks like I'll be talking to myself in this forum so, just for the record, I'll answer my own queries!

I still can't locate the version of the Bitrate Calculator shown in the video series. However, it doesn't seem to matter. The CS3 version available online gives a very good starting point.

Having applied the settings and then tweaked them slightly I was able to compress my files from an average of 20Mb per min right down to 2 Mb per min with no discernible loss of quality. That's truly remarkable and has saved me a ton of headaches.

What looked like an impossibly large project has now suddenly become manageable.

Graham, you can download the Bitrate Calculator (officially called the Web Video Bitrate Starter application) here:

It's still in beta, but you can sign up for my newsletter where I post updates:

If you have any questions about the current beta, let me know.

Thanks for posting that up, it's been a super handy tool for me over the last week.

BTW, great tutorial Robert. It's nice to see the video stuff in action. I've been reading about all this stuff and couldn't wrap my head around some things, so it's nice to see it!
