In Robert's new Encoding Video for Adobe CS4 videos he often demos outputting compositions in After Effects CS4 using the QT uncompressed 8 bit 4:2:2 compression type. However, I don't see that as an option in my list of compression types. Can someone tell me where I can get it?

Thanks,

Rich

Rich, can you give me the following details:

1) What OS are you using? I think you mentioned a MacBook Pro in an earlier post.
2) What version of QuickTime do you have installed?
3) Where are you trying to set the codec type? From the Render Queue settings I presume?
4) Do you have Final Cut Studio installed? If so, which version?

Robert-

I'm shooting my video footage from my camera (Canon XH-A1s) through my Macbook Pro (firewire) and capturing the footage to an external hard drive using Adobe OnLocation. I then take the external drive and connect it to my Mac Pro (16gb Ram, OSX 10.5.6, QuickTime Pro version 7.6.0(1290)).

In After Effects CS4 I'm in the Render Que in the Output Module settings, under the format options tab. There is no combination of Format or Format Options that will give me the QuickTime uncompressed 8 bit codec in any of my drop down menus. I do not own Final Cut Studio, so it is not installed.

What do you suggest?

Thanks again,

Rich
