Help! I import an image with layers created in Photoshop into Flash all the layers of text and images can be edited. The gradient layer is flattened or locked in Flash.

Does anyone know how to make Flash CS4 edit a gradient layer and not flatten?

Please help!

Hi Rainmaker,

Welcome to the designprovideo forums :)

Have you checked out the Flash 101 tutorial:
http://www.designprovideo.com/tutorial/flashcs4101

Snow Dowd talks goes through the process of importing PS and Illustrator layered images into Flash in Section 6 (chapters 74-83).

It seems that importing complex gradient layers into Flash may not allow the user to edit them freely... simpler gradient layers should work ok.

Hope that helps,
Rounik

Rounik, thank you.

Occasionally I do use complex gradient layers, so I will probably keep those particular layers simple or accept that Flash can only import these layer as flattened bitmaps.

Either way, this is very useful information. I trawled the internet for a solution. I'm tempted to explore the Flash CS4 101 tutorial. If I choose the subscription service can I get the tutorial as a download as well?

Regards
Rayne
