Red Eye questions

A few questions about red eye. In the Turorial Mastering Photoshop CS3 it says that red eye is the light bouncing off the red blood vessels in the back of the eye. So why is it when I take a photo of my dog here eyes turn out green and not red? Just wondering.

And on that point is there a good way to remove my dogs "green" eye?

Thanks.

Hi Pat,

I don't know the answer why... but animals often give green or yellow eye!

What I would do is use a medium soft paintbrush, about the size of the dogs eye(s).

Paint over the eye with Black on a new layer.

Hide the Black layer, and create a new layer with the paintbrush selected and a much smaller size with white as the colour. Paint over the glints in the eye.

Now unhide the black layer. It should look much better?

Actually, I've just found this link that appears to explain the "green-eye" scenario for Dogs:

Let me know if this works for you.

Hi Rounik,

Thanks for the link I will read it right away. Also for the explanation on how to fix it. I will give it a try later, I'm sure it will be a lot better.

Hi Pat,

No problem. It's fascinating stuff. Makes sense after reading the article.

Do let me know if the method works or not or if you find another method which is better.

Thanks
