Hello Rounik, this is Cubase5 from the Cubase forum. I own Photo Shop Elements and Aperture 3. I am attempting to upload a photo as an Avatar. The site requires 80x80. I can reduce the photo, but the surrounding boarders remain as if not able to reduce. What can I do to remove the photo from its area in order to use the photo.

Hi Cubase5,

In fact you can do this in Preview (the app used to view PDFs and image files on your Mac).

Here's how:

- Open the image in Preview (e.g. drag it on to the Preview icon in the Dock)

- Choose Tool > Select Tool

- Now draw a selection box over the area of the make into an avatar. I'd recommend holding down Shift to make the selection area square.

(Don't worry about the size yet, we can resize it later)

- Now choose Tools > Crop

- At this point it's a good idea to choose File > Save as...

- Next choose Tools > Adjust Size...
Set the value to Pixels and scale the image proportionally and choose "80" for the width and height.

- Hit "OK" and save the image!

Hope that helps
Rounik

Rounik, I followed your steps to the T. Now the forum prompt informs me that the photo can not be more than 8192 bytes. What do I do to correct this issue. Thanks in advance.
