Mainsatge - didn't see a category - any help here maybe?

Hopefully someone here has an answer or can direct me to what the Tutorials didn't cover. On e-mail response, said come here.
I have a Roland FC-300 Midi Foot Conroller and can't seem to get the two to communicate. I'm not sure what Mainstage needs from the FC-300. It seemed like something was trying to connect for a second.
What I'm trying to do is be able to change patches in the sets and use the Perform to control effects from the FC-300. I've been through both tutorials not a mention of a foot controller. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
