I'm trying to copy files from a usb drive to my imac and it is transfering very slowly less than 1mb /10sec.I'm using the fast usb hub on my G5 ppc 2.1GHZ.This also happens when i connect my camera and loading files from my ipod to the computer hard drive. It seems that the USB ports are not functioning to their 480mb /sec potential what can i do ?

maybe your iMac needs a repair, I think you should change the usb ports! Merry Christmas and thanks again ... paz

First make sure that

-your usb hub is a USB 2.0 hub.
-the usb port on your g5 that you plug the hub into is a usb 2.0 port.

you can also try plugging your devices directly into your g5 and testing the speed.

depending on what you have plugged into your hub, you could be maxing out the bus with other devices (ie. speakers, hds, etc.). Just remember that other devices will be using a part of the total speed.
