Hello,

I reformatted my hard drive and then installed Logic Pro 8. I thought everything was there but some of the instruments folders were missing such as the Horns folder in the garageband section Also some of the logic basics are missing. I attempted to reinstall them with the Logic disk selecting Garageband Instruments but it didn't make it better. surprisingly I have 20210 loops this time around. Is that the right number of loops?

Thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan,

I don't have an install of Logic 8 to test check... I know there are more loops in Logic 9...

What version of Garageband are you running? Have you tried re-installing GB after Logic?

Thanks

Rounik,

It's 3.0.4. No I haven't tried to reinstall Garageband. I don't know if I can reinstall jam packs 1-3 without having to worry about the studio receipts. I don't know if Logic looks for anything that's missing and then reinstalls everything again making two copies of everything.

Thanks,

Alan

Hey,

Logic 9's got a very intelligent installation system that doesn't in my experience duplicate anything... Logic 8 was a little different.

You could try using an app called Pacifist to install selected content directly from the Logic Studio discs...

Hi Rounik,

how are you doing? Thanks for posting back. Yes Logic 9 I would hope would offer a better installation system.

I clicked the wrong button this morning so I have been formatting from the beginning all day long. It's always smart to double check that you uncheck the operating system box as well as the applications boxes.

Apple told me that the on the install disk bundled software installs all the Garage instruments.

I don't know if you like Garage band or not. I rarely can use them because they are just to terrible but I just don't like the instruments not existing when there's buttons for the instruments.

I cannot get logic 9 now but maybe some day soon.

Sincerely,

Alan

Hi Alan,

Yes, I always prefer to have the full range of instruments from GB in Logic.

I have a soft spot for GB to be honest. I think it's a very capable application and have come across many musicians who have created very impressive music using it. But, in my heart, Logic is the real deal ;-)

Cheers

Rounik,

that's good to know. So the samples in GB are good? I wasn't sure if those instruments work OK for Taxi listings.

Thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan,

Yeah, the jam Packs are shared between GB and Logic and Soundtrack Pro...

What do you mean by this?
"I wasn't sure if those instruments work OK for Taxi listings."

I am unsure about the professional quality of Garageband and how it affects production. Taxi is a A&R Company located at www.taxi.com I looked at Taxi for several years before signing up. It's not for everyone.

Take Care,

Alan

oh, of course, taxi.com. I see.

Thanks
Rounik
