Hi,

I was just trying to watch my iMovie 9 tut on my offline computer, and it reacted very strangely. Specifically, it shows the chapters as having 00:00 time, and won't open. I checked the contents of the tut, and the files are there. I went to the admin page on this version of NED (1.1.4), and I am told to hit UPDATE for this and a few other of my tuts (Steve's Mastering Toolbox won't open either, though the other two for which I am told to UPDATE seem to be there). So, what do I do?

Thanks,

Glenn

PS, I trashed the tut, and am now re-downloading it. Is there some issue with watching the tuts offline? I keep getting prompted for my email and password. Is that somehow related to my problem?

Hi Glenn,

There should be no issue with watching any of your tuts offline.

Are your re-downloaded tuts working now? If not could you try downloading and using a more up to date version of NED:
http://www.macprovideo.com/about

Then make sure to log in using the same email address and password used when you purchased the tutorials.

Is this issue only affecting the iMovie 09 and Mastering Toolbox tuts?

Another method to try is to quit NED on your Mac and then delete the NED preference file:
Home Folder / Library / Preferences / com.nonlineareducating.NED3.plist

When you re-open NED you'll need to log-in again.

Hope that helps

Hi Rounik,

Thanks for your reply. NED tells me that the version is up to date (this is on a C2D iMac, 10.4.11, I think). Yes, I think the tutorials are working. Two other tuts were listed the same as the lost ones, but their files played.

What is up with me being continuously prompted for my email address and password?

Thanks,

Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Sorry for the late reply!

Yes, you're correct as you're running 10.4.11 then you have the latest version of NED for that OS.

If you're still experiencing issues with being asked for your log-in details please drop a note to Support. It shouldn't be happening.

Did you try deleting the NED preferences file?

Best,
Rounik

p.s. thanks for your honest review of the OS X 201. Much appreciated!

Hi Rounik,

Thanks again for your help. Does Martin compensate you adequately for your time, expertise, and enthusiasm? ;-)

I would've liked to go a bit deeper on my review of your tut, but my health isn't so good these days, and I must put my energy where it is needed the most. I also rarely give 100% for anything, because that kinda makes the scale meaningless, n'est pas?

If I scrap the NED prefs, I am not going to get prompted to re-download all of my (22, at last count) tuts, am I?

Cheers,

Glenn

Hey Glenn,

Yeah.. Martin and the whole team at macProVido are like my extended online family ;-)

I'm sorry to hear you're not enjoying optimum health and hope you feel some improvement in the coming days...

I appreciate all honest feedback and criticism and that's the best way to improve!

Deleting the preferences should not prompt you to download all 22 tutorials again. The preferences contain your log-in details and the location where your tutorials are stored. So, if you haven't manually moved the tuts from
Users/Documents/NED/ then it'll be fine.

You will need to insert the email address and password you used when purchasing your tutorials.

If you wish you can move the preferences file to the desktop rather than trash it. That way you can always move it back. I tend to do this with other apps like Logic, but rarely find I need to move the original prefs file back.

Hope that helps!

Oh dear. That bad, eh? ;-) Anytime my family ever wanted me to work for them, the remuneration was 'as between family.' In other words, gratis.....

Again, thanks. When I go back to my old (old, haha) iMac, I'll try your suggestion.

I also enjoy your Logic blog entries. Good stuff!

Ha! I didn't think of it like that ;-)

No probs Glenn. Let me or Christian in Support know if you need any help.

Again, thanks for your kind words about the blog tips - and more importantly glad to know you like them!

:)
