I'm trying to download the free demo tutorial Logic 101. I'm following the instructions, but nothing happens when I hit Update in the NED window. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Tom,

Does N.E.D. ask you for your username and password?

No, nothing happens when I hit Update. I tried downloading NED again with the same result. Is there a certain folder where it needs to go? It's on my desktop right now.

Hi Tom! Log on to MacProVideo.com on your web browser. Go to your account. Go to "My Tutorials". Does the "Logic 101" appears in "Authorized Demo Tutorials" ? If not, go to :http://www.macprovideo.com/download-demo/masteringLogic7-DEMO and add it to your account.

Yes, it does appear in Authorized Demo Tutorials. Still, nothing happens when I launch NED, pick Tutorials, and pick Update.

Do you have the same problem with other free demo tutorials as well, or just the Logic 101 ?

I'm also authorized for the Reason 101 demo, but that one doesn't show up in the tutorial manager when I click Update, either. NED never asks me for my username or password.

When you first launch N.E.D., does the welcome screen say that you aren't connected to the internet? Also, on the machine that you're running N.E.D., is it 10.4.9? And what type of internet connection are you using?

No, I'm definitely connected to the internet when I log on to NED. I'm running 10.4.9 and using a DSL connection through a router. My browser is Safari. I'm not running anti-virus software. I usually have no trouble downloading files.

Try deleting the "NED_Player.plist" file in your Home/Library/Preferences folder... When you click on "Tutorials" it should ask you your login / Password.

Hey Tom,

I logged into N.E.D. with your account and a temporarily changed password, and it downloaded the demo files correctly, so we've pin pointed the issue to your computer. I'm going to ask the software developers what else we can try.

I already tried rebooting my Mac and that didn't help either.

If I can download the files without them automatically expanding or installing, I can try downloading them to my Windows PC at work (I'm there now), then transfer them via my flash drive over to my Mac. Would that be a solution? Is it possible to download a Mac demo to a Windows machine? Or, you could send me the files on CD.

Thanks again.

I think that transfering them from Windows to Mac should work. Just double-click on the tutorial on the Mac and it will open in NED. But your I'm curious about your Mac problem... could it be related to your Firewall?

Hi Tom,

Our software developers have suggested that you turn on error logging inside of N.E.D., to see if we can track down the problem. To do this, follow these steps:

1) Open N.E.D. and select "Preferences" from the "N.E.D." menu
2) Tick the checkbox next to "Enable error logging"
3) Quit N.E.D.
4) Then open your console.app application, located in the Utilities folder
5) Inside of the console, click on the "Logs" button at the top, and then select "~/Library/Logs" from the left.
6) In here you'll find "NED.log", click on this, then click "Clear" at the top
7) Then launch N.E.D. once more, and you should see a new N.E.D. log appear
8) Paste the contents of that log in here, or e-mail it to use through our contact form

I know these are a lot of steps, but it should be fairly simple to do, and will help us track down the problem and hopefully fix it for you!

Removing the NED.plist solved the identical problem for me.

Thanks
