Just migrated data to my new iMac/Lion from iMac with Snow Leopard.
Non of my tutorials will play. If I click on any of them the N.E.D. crashes.
Non of the tutorials will download.
Any help on this issue would be GREATLY appreciated.
Christian??

Yup, same problem here too, on a couple of machines running Lion. Have conversed with Christian at some length via email but no permanent fix as yet.

Mick,
Here's a reply from Chiristian that worked for me.
I'm all up and running again so maybe you should follow this too:

I'm sorry for this issue. Please do the following :

1. Make sure NED is closed.

2. In the Finder menu, click on Go >Â Go to Folder...

3. Type "~/library/preferences" without quotes and hit "Go"

4. Find the com.nonlineareducating.NED3.plist and the NED_Player.plist and delete them both. (Don't worry if you don' t find the NED_Player.plist file but it's important to delete it if you find it.)

5. Re-open NED and now attempt to login again.

6. If you changed the Download Folder location, you'll have to do that again under NED > Preferences.

7. Click on "Downloads & Admin", press the "Download" button, make sure that all tutorials are enabled and hit "Download" again.

If it still doesn't work, I suggest you quit NED and try to remove all .prgm from ~/documents/NED in the Finder.

(~ is you home folder)

Then try to re-download a few tutorials to see if it helps.

If you are unable to download the tutorials, make sure you only use letters and numbers in your password. This will fix the issue.

Please let me know if you need more assistance.

Hi,
Been there, done that :-). It did work at the time I did it but the next time I tried to access the tutorials I got the crash again. Have deleted and re downloaded the tutorials one by one but still no joy. Seems to crash randomly, doesn't seem to apply to any one Tutorial.

Glad you are going ok though.

Has there been any kind of resolution to this Lion issue? I too cannot download any of my tutorials on my new machine now that it runs Lion......

James,
As far as I am concerned I still have the problem of NED crashing when I try and view the Tutorials, but I have no problem downloading them?
With regards to the crashing Christian suggested the following -

It's an issue with Quicktime, Safari and Mac OS X Lion.

Did you try to re-download all tutorials, including previously purchased tutorials? All users who experienced this issue were able to make it work after re-download all tutorials.

1. Make sure NED is closed.

2. In the Finder menu, click on Go > Go to Folder...

3. Type "~/library/preferences" without quotes and hit "Go"

4. Find the com.nonlineareducating.NED3.plist and the NED_Player.plist and delete them both. (Don't worry if you don' t find the NED_Player.plist file but it's important to delete it if you find it.)

5. Go to User Account > Documents > NED

6. Move ALL .prgm files to another location on your hard drive.

7. Re-open NED and log in your account.

8. Download a few tutorials (under "Downloads & Admin") and see if it works better.

I tried this several times but on the end still had the same problem.

Hi Everyone,

Please pass your crash reports on to Christian. To do so, open up Console and go under User Diagnostic Reports. You should see crash reports labelled N.E.D._date_of_crash. Right click on them and select email. Please send them to mpvsupport at macprovideo dot com.

We'll try to get a fix out ASAP. Sorry for this taking so long.

To report: I got the NED software update, but no improvement...still, none of the tutorials will even download. Though, in the last 24hrs I've had no issue downloading full movies from iTunes.

I also did the file deletions detailed above, but still nothing.

Christian suggested that I try NED version 1. So I did. This is also not working.

For now just using the iPad version which works like a charm.

Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help, all....

James

Just FYI, I'm using 15" Macbook Pro, running osX 10.7.1, 2GHz Intel core i7

I updated to NED 3.3.4 yesterday and since then it crashes whenever I try to load any tutorials... I'm on OSX 10.6.8.

ajay,

I just deleted the NED app and folder(s), then went into the Time Machine to the day before I downloaded the (Lion) update for NED. All of my video tutorials were still there with no need to redownload.

The version before this that I had was 3. Not 3.3.1 to the present. Everything works fine for me now.

Same thing over here.

N.E.D. just prompted me to update to 3.3.4. I downloaded the update as usual and it appeared to install OK. I launch N.E.D. and I can see my library OK, but as soon as I click on a tutorial to view it N.E.D. immediately crashes.

I too am on Mac OSX 10.6.8.

First time I've ever had a problem with N.E.D..

It was my first as well. Try reloading from a day or two prior to upgrade. When prompt to upgrade to 3.3.1 - 3.3.2 and 3.3.3 just hit either Remind Later or Not Now.

Like anything new, the kinks need to be worked out.

Maybe this is a little off topic since some folks having problems with crashes haven't yet updated their OS to Lion, but...it seems as good a place as any since it speaks to crashes.

As far as OSX 10.6.8 and N.E.D. 3.3.4 crashes are concerned, what I've done in the mean time is to delete N.E.D. 3.3.4 from my Mac, and download N.E.D. 3.3.3 from the macprovideo website.

So, for now I'd say use caution and think twice about updating to N.E.D. 3.3.4 if you're using Mac OSX 10.6.8, I guess. (I'm sure a fix is in the works).

Luckily, it looks like I won't have to re-download my library of tutorials, despite having to revert back to N.E.D. 3.3.3. Opening the newly downloaded 3.3.3 I show my entire library there, just as it was before, and I can (once again) view the tutorials.

Ditto here...OS 10.6.8...NED 3.3.4 crashes when trying to view any tutorial...I'm going back to 3.3.3; hopefully, they'll test their code against OS's that most of us are still using and not just with Lion.

We're very sorry about this. There is a fix in the works which should hopefully be ready today.

In the meantime, please use NED 3.3.3: http://www.macprovideo.com/ned_resources/AppMac/Downloads/N.E.D.3.3.3.zip

Thanks.
