I am on a Dell PC with Windows XP Pro. In both Safari and IE when I play tutorials the sound is really distorted. I can watch the same tutorial on You Tube and it sounds fine. Any ideas?

Thanks Rounik. I sent a mail to support already. Just thought maybe someone on the forum may have seen this issue before and it was a simple fix.

Hi Newkirk,

I've not come across this... I'd recommend downloading the latest version of Quicktime for Windows and restarting your PC.

Are you using an audio interface/sound card to output the sound from your PC?

Hope this helps in the meantime...

Hi There,

It's been a few days, so maybe you've solved the problem, but just in case...

I had the same issue. Windows XP, using IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari... all play the online tutorials w/distorted audio.
Apparently, the lastest update of Quicktime (7.6.6.) may be the culprit. I uninstalled it and tried 7.6, and the audio was fine.
The only problem is that the lastest version of iTunes doesn't work with any QT earlier than 7.6.4. (7.6.5 for Windows)

Hope this helps.

I've tested it on our Vista machine in the office and Quicktime 7.6.6 looks to be causing the problem.

All the audio in NEDweb went crackly. Uninstalling QT and installing 7.6.5 fixed the issue.

For now, please uninstall QT 7.6.6 and re-install 7.6.5.

A copy can be found here: http://www.macprovideo.com/MPV/QuickTimeInstaller_7.6.5.exe

FYI this is a NEDweb issue and not NED.

Hi everyone,

Instead of downgrading to the previous version of Quicktime, can you try the following and tell me if it works ?

1. Go to Control Panel > Quicktime.
2. Click on the Audio tab.
3. Select "Windows Audio Session" under "Play Audio Using".
4. Press "Apply".

Please confirm if it works for you.

Thanks!

These commands do not exist in XP.

Try opening Quicktime, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Quicktime Preferences. Go to the Audio tab then see if you can select "Windows Audio Session" under the "Play Audio Using" section.

The option was greyed out for me on Vista so I'm not sure if it is a Windows 7 only option.

Let us know if you can select it in XP.

Hi Scott,

We are working on fixing the issue.

In the meantime, please see above for workaround solutions.

For XP/Vista, uninstall Quicktime and install the previous version.

For Windows 7, try selecting the "Windows Audio Session" option in the QT preferences.

Thanks. The old v of QT works fine. Perhaps you can send out an email to all subscribers so that they don't have the same frustration. Also, please send out an email when the new v of QT can be used.

Thanks again for your quick response.
