Hello Manfrixkiller,

I'm sorry to hear you are unable to install NED for windows on your PC... But your language is a little extreme don't you think? How can you presume our Video Tutorial playback application, NED is a "total scam" because one person has a problem installing it on their system?

So, I've just looked at your system spec. You are running Windows Vista in 64-bit?

Unfortunately, NED for Windows does not currently support 64-bit Windows.

This information is there in bold under system requirements on the NED for windows download page:
http://www.macprovideo.com/about/ned&os=win&ver=win

Please contact our Support Team here:
http://www.macprovideo.com/support/
I'm sure they will be able to offer you a satisfactory solution.

Thanks
Rounik

[quote:] sorry mate but im just really mad why such complicated system?

when people afford the download HD it should be simple to get... no other software impliance to run the videos i purchased other than those like Quicktime... i bought it thinking i will get a zip with all the videos of the tutorial anyways i already sent a message to costummer support... i apologize for my rude writing but i was just really mad seeing that i lose 1 day of learning for some extra software failure..

and what bugged me most was that i installed the quicktime 7 Net Framework 4 for Vista x 64 and the thing keeped on asking for the quicktime.. tried different ways constantly... well i hope they can fix my problem or simply give me a zip with the videos i purchased...

There's a long story behind why we use NED. The vast majority of our users love it as it is a dedicated library, database, download and Tutorial playback engine.

NED for Mac/PC is free and we make it available so anyone can download it, try it out with the free demo tutorials whenever they wish before making a purchase.

I understand you're frustrated. I'll let our friendly Support team continue the discussion on how to resolve the issue for you... as they are better placed to do so. But, from my understanding the 64-bit Windows issue is down to Quicktime and Vista 64-bit and is out of our hands. I'm a Mac user so couldn't say for sure...

Thanks
Rounik

Hi Manfred,

Our support team didn't tell you to forget about it as such - but rather explained why it is something we cannot create until Apple enable this functionality on 64-bit windows machines.

For any tutorial you purchase you can use NEDweb to view the tutorial online. There is no monthly limit for purchased tutorials - so yes, you can watch it whenever you'd like to.

If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch you can download it / or stream it direct to your device for free using NEDi:

Thanks

I must agree with some of the feelings expressed here. I spent over 4hrs trying to get this to work on a win7(64bit)computer running xp mode(32 bit, or atleast thats what they say it is online?) and it was major dissappointment when i had to spend my entire evening fooling with what i too thought would be a simple download. I got mine working though(i think). The problem was the link for the NET frame download was a bad link on the mane windows NED download page and it installed net frame 4.o instead of 2.o. This needs to be fixed, it cost me a ton of time! Otherwise i hope the rest goes smooth and i can enjoy the ableton live video that appeared to be well made when looking at the trial segments.

Hi Learning,

Sorry to hear you've had a less than good experience with NED. It's not usual.

NED for download doesn't yet support Win 7 64-bit (as detailed on the NED download page).

But I see you are running it in XP mode? I'm not familiar with Windows 7/PC modes.

Thanks for the info on the download link for net frame. I'll pass this on.

Have you contacted out Support Team to help you with a solution?
http://www.macprovideo.com/support/

If, for any reason you are unable to get up and running, you can view your purchased tutorials online through the NEDweb player.

Log-in to macprovideo.com and click on the 'Launch Player' button at the top right.

Hope that helps &let us know if you need any help,
Rounik

Sorry but I have to agree with the disappointed users above -- it is a complicated process and in the end does not work for a 64bit operating system. The error message one gets from the installer is totally misleading. That is the first thing you should fix!

Also it isn't clear that your program does not support 64 bit oprating systems since Vista comes in 64bit and you offer a Vista version. Even running the program under WinXP mode does not work. Tech support? I hope I get a reply.

If you want to keep your complicated system why not offer a 64bit player that works? Hopefully I can start the tutorials in the next months when there is an update to the player one needs for your system for watching a simple video.

Hi Peace,

I checked our Support area and indeed it looks like Christian replied to you about 4 hours after you sent a support ticket.

Just to detail what was said:

"As indicated on our website, our current version of NED for PC does not support Windows 64 bit. It's not that we don't want to build a 64-bit NED, it's that Apple hasn't made it possible yet to use Quicktime functionality in other software on the 64-bit Windows platform. For now, NED will work only on Windows (7, vista or XP) 32 bits or Mac OS.

We also offer the option to stream the videos online directly in your browser even on Windows 7 64 bit. Just log in your account on our website (http://www.macprovideo.com/) and click the "Launch Player" button to watch the tutorials you ordered.

Best regards,
Christian"

Hope this helps,
Rounik

did you get it to work on XP mode? If so could you share some details on how to install it? That would be appreciated.

I did get it to work on Xp Mode/Virtual PC on Windows 7 (XP mode 32Bit is included with Windows 7 Professional and versions above it). I do not remember the details, but as i mentioned, a big problem was the NET Frame 4.0 link mistake. I kept getting errors involving NET Frame - i think when i was tryn to install the NED player, until i stumbled onto a link for NET Frame 2.o, I installed it and that fixed my problems as far as i can recall. If you have any specific questions, let me know, it might jog my memory.

On another topic, I made the mistake of not realizing that these videos are geared toward the MAC OS and so some of the material covered does not apply to the WINDOWS version of, for example, "ableton live". Buyer beware. I am still making use of it, but i have to try and translate some things in the tutorial to the WINDOWS environment on my own.

I must also mention that I was definitely impressed when these guys paid attention and fixed the NET Frame 4.0 link mistake. They listened and corrected the problem very quickly :)

Thanks Learning!

Yes, we fixed the link to .NET Framework 2.0 as soon as you told us :)

It's important to make sure that 2.0 and NOT 4.0 is the version installed.

The vast majority of our cross-platform tutorials cater for PC and Mac users these days... so when key commands are mentioned, the equivalent Windows/Mac command is given.

I can't remember with the Ableton Live tuts - but in general, I believe the only real differences for key commands for cross-platform applications tend to be the following:

PC Mac
_____ _____

Alt Option
Control Command
Right-click Control-click

Hope this helps, or do feel free to let us know in the Ableton Live forums.

Thanks
Rounik

I'm another unhappy off W7 64 bit user.

The Omnisphere streaming tutorials I bought are deeply flawed because:

> the detail is too small for screen details (like fields) to be easily seen

> the transport controls are absent. Only a black line is showing. I tested both Windows Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. I get a black line - no transport bar

The net result is that the videos are unwatchable - no detail, no pause, and no rewind ... duh

The download version doesn't work either (see above NED failure threads).

So what I'd really like is an ftp address to download the mov files so I can view them on my own Quicktime player (v7x)

I paid for the tutorials, but am unable to use them, so I don't feel it's too much to ask.

Hello kevvvvv

and welcome to the forums.

I'm sorry to hear you are not fully satisfied with your experience...

We do state in Bold letters on the download page for NED that NED for PC is not Windows 64-bit compatible. This is unfortunately not within our control (down to Apple)...

You can run Windows in 32-bit emulation mode as mentioned previously in this thread...

The HD download video size is higher than our streaming content - but on my Mac here, the online Omnisphere 101 looks great and I find it clear...

Can I suggest that you talk to our Support team about this and the 'absent transport controls' issue. There may well be a solution...

Thanks

rounik ... I appreciate your polite reply.

But I didn't see a warning displayed at the point at which I paid my money.

Recommending that I talk to your support team seems my only option, but I desperately don't want to go down one of those "go to 32 bit mode" or "try it in Safari" or other tech hell semi-solutions.

The online Omnisphere is not clear when looking at field level. It's fuzzy. Video needs to run at 480 for reasonable field-viewing quality. Try looking again, and tell me you can read the words at field level.

I appreciate I'm bring difficult. It's because I feel ripped off. And my only option is a technical runaround for a $40 tutorial.

You wouldn't like it if it was you.

Hi Kevvvvv,

I appreciate what you're saying. At no point would we like cusomters/users to be unhappy with their purchases, which is why I recommend you contact our friendly Support Team who will do their utmost to help resolve any technical issue and if this is not possible explore another path with you.

We make NED for Mac/PC available to download so users can test it out before making a purchase and make sure everything works... There are free demos to download and 'try before you buy'. However, I do take your suggestion onboard.

In regards to NEDweb, I personally find the size of the video on my Mac and iPad fine and am able to see details and words fine - but this is just my personal opinion. What is the resolution of your screen set to? At 1440x900 it looks sharp and clear on my system.

If you're not satisfied with viewing the tutorial online as a solution for you then I can only suggest contacting our Support Team. We have a lot of happy and loyal customers and would love you to be a part of that and we do value everyone's custom.

Please contact us here:

You can link back to this thread using the following link so that our Support team can help you in minimal time.

learning,
thanks for your reply. I will check my error messages during the install. I asked Tech Support for step by step instructions for a 32bit Win 7 Virtual Mode installation.

In the meantime I captured the downstream viewing. Not the quality I hoped for but for the time being better than nothing. Hopefully MacPro Video will offer us a player that works for 64bit for the HD tutorials.
