Any news on if this is being looked at?

Hi Matt,

Although Apple's Quicktime is officially working in 64-bit mode in Windows 7, I believe there are certain components of QT that are not fully 64-bit compatible which has caused some issue.

I'm not 100% up to date with this situation, but believe this to still be the case... All I can suggest for PC users currently that wish to run Windows in 64-bit mode is to use one the workarounds (to emulate 32-bit mode) and/or use NEDweb to view their purchased tutorials online.

Please contact our Support team for the latest info:

Thanks
Rounik

Well a very disappointing Response from support. My question on advertising the fact that MPV.com doesn't support 64bit before you have the option of purchasing a HD tutorial.

"Hi Matt,

Unfortunately, a Win 64 compatible version of NED is currently not on our agenda. For now, NED works only on Windows 32 bits or Mac OS.

I apologize for this inconvenience."

Scroll down to the end of the page to find it.

Hope this helps.

Rounik,

Thanks for the reply, as I have already mention "Learning" is talking about the Virtual PC XP mode which comes with Windows 7 Ultimate and professional. This is running your NED software in a virtual pc. I have already done this. the functionality of this isn't really the best way to do this. Also it is quite a long process workaround. It SHOULD NOT be a recommended workaround for 64bit users. Virtual PC is for PC users that are intermediate/advanced users.

I guess I am just very disappointed that 64bit isn't even on MPV.com's agenda.

ANY STILL no response on why it hasn't been address the fact you can purchase a HD Tutorial without seeing that you will be USING the NED software and that it isn't compatible with 64bit. Shame...

Hi Matt,

It isn't a recommended workaround for Win 7 64-bit users - but a suggestion for you to try if you wish. Some users are fine with doing it, so I simply thought I should link to it in case you weren't aware of it.

There are a few reasons (outside of our control currently) why we are unable to push ahead with 64-bit Win 7 version of NED for download customers.

If you visit the 'About" page and click on "NED" (which must be downloaded prior to downloading tutorials) then the system requirements for Windows users should be listed there... I think we should add this to our FAQ section too. Thanks.

Please let us know via Support if this doesn't work for you (I'm not using a PC so can't see that the PC required specs)... or for any further correspondence re: NED for Win 7 64bit - as there's little more help I can provide on the forums.

Kind regards,
Rounik

I must say that it seems a bit weird that you choose to ignore pc users who have 64 bit Windows. The fact is that your tutorials are greatly appreciated and praised on many forums, but many PC users don't want to buy your products, 'cause the download option is unavailable for 64 bit WIN7 users.

Would make sense for you as a company to fix this issue asap, don't you think? According to economic theories expanding your customer base should/would benefit all the parties involved (your revenue would increase and the prices could decrease).

Just my 2 cents. :)

I am in the same situation - Very poor that I am able to buy without realising that I have to use it online. Not something I would have done if I had known.

We would like to provide a new version of NED for Windows but currently don't have the resources to do so. The current version is outdated and would likely require a full rewrite from the ground up.

Maybe a petition thread is needed so we can get a rough count of how many of our members this effects?

I also bought a tutorial to watch while being offline.

Of course, I have W7 64bits and can't watch it as I would like. Nowhere in the purchase process I was warned. I consider this as bad business practice and I'm on my way to call my credit card company to oppose the payment to MPV.

An online tutorial is NOT what I bought (or was told I was buying).

The real problem here is very far reaching. Not only do your tutorials not work here but anything supplied to MusicTech and Computer Music magazines don't work either. This not only makes you look bad but also reflects on the magazines choice to use you. Why not simply drop the proprietary NED entirely and use straight Quicktime that works flawlessly on Win 64? NED problems are years old dating back to Vista 64 and use a simpler key check for authentication?

I'd love to buy your tutorials AND use the info on the magazines I subscribe to. You unnecessarily make it impossible for me to do so.

funny that the petition thread was closed! ha ha funny. there will never be a 64 bit Windows 7 compatible N.E.D. player. never. what is the market share of Windows vs. Mac? what percentage of new Windows computers are 64 bit? sounds like someone's idea of a business plan needs tinkering

Will there be a new NED for Windows? I hope so.

Is there a current plan to build one? No.

What percentage of new Windows computers are 64 bit? Probably all.

Is there an opportunity to gain business in the Windows market? Definitely.

I'm sorry guys but we are currently focused on our Mac, iOS and streaming technologies at the moment. We want to be able to support all systems for our products but unfortunately we can't keep up on them all.

We're very sorry to alienate our Windows users who want to take advantage of our HD Downloads but at the moment we will not be developing a new version. I really hope that in the future we will be able to bring a new version of NED to Windows.
