Converting videos without NEDi running

Hi,

Is there any way in a future NED release that you can allow NED to convert the videos ready for syncing to NEDi, without NEDi running?

The fact that my iPod Touch is unusable while the 210 videos in Logic 8 101 convert is a bit of a pain!

If I could convert the videos within NED and have them automatically start syncing when NEDi is launched, that would be excellent.

Great tool, by the way!

Thanks,
Steve

hmm ... interesting ... we'll give it some thought.

Glad you like the app so far ... there's a lot still to come, as we're putting a huge emphasis on NEDi ... :)

Keep those feature requests coming!

i now own a significant amount of Tutorials -

this is a bit rediculous to be forced to wait hours while NED converts the videos - one by by one, prior to syncing with my Iphone. (208 videos for Ableton Live 101 at 1-3 minutes per video) - -OUCH!!!

Allow us to "pre- convert " the videos for N.E.D.I. "offline" - perhaps with an update to desktop N.E.D. - so i can let it convert them overnight - and be ready to WiFi sync in th morning when I launch N.E.D.I. on my IPhone.

as it now stands - it would take me days to sync all my videos.

Also - can we store the converted videos for NEDI on my Mac's Hard drive?

If i abort a transfer after already transfering "93 of 208", could it just resume where it left off?

If I hit cancel - then go about my life, and return - Desktop NED will not let me only the missing "94 thru 208" videos.

I must restart from the top at video #1 - and waste more hours!

other than this - looks great!

thanks!

I very much second (third and even fourth) a motion for finding a way of pre-converting the videos on the computer before uploading to the iPhone. I, like many others here I'm sure, own several tutorials which means 100's of videos. Takes ages!!

Great app though!

Cheers

That was my first impression as well, that the sync was going to take too long. Maybe a warning to do it overnight would manage expectations on this point.

Might I add the suggestion to choose parts of tutorials. I just need the last 20 of 210 videos for one of the tutorials and it would be nice if NED knew which ones I had seen and only converted the rest.

THanks for the shiny new app!!

-John

Finally trying out N.E.D.i.

Definitely need to be able to convert these asynchronously. Having to do it at the time of syncing is much too inconvenient.

Another thought... Maybe MacProVideo could have the already converted tutorials available on their site to download and upload to the iPhone via the computer NED program?

I know! Hugely lazy of me but it does take eons to convert them this way. Also, I noticed one or two vids wouldn't play for some reason.

Anyway... just a wee thought...!

ZigZag is exactly right. iTunes Music Store does that. When you buy a video it downloads HD and low res versions...

I'd like to add my voice to this.

It makes little sense to me that my machine is tied up for hours converting hundreds of videos.

At the very least let me schedule this process and control how much CPU it uses. Right now NEDiTool is working my CPU fan speed up to a deafening 6000RPM.

But I think a better & simpler solution would be to include optimized NEDi builds for download from the MPV site.

Regards,

Matt

I must echo PLEASE CONVERT THE VIDS IN NED!!!!!! WITHOUT TYING UP OUR PHONES!!!!!

SO WE CAN USE OUR PHONES!!!!!!!!!

I love the app. Please laugh at my yelling for this feature. : )

Don't make me have to run down the street screaming it or write a full length CD on the topic.

I agree with ZigZag & others here on this point. Also instead of or maybe in addition to the WiFi sync, I think it would be great to be able to select our iphone ready MPV's & drag & drop them on our iPhone device iTunes/iPod style.

Then we could take all the advantages of multi selecting either whole vid titles or just the vids we need within the titles.
