NEDi 2.1 is out, and it's working for me

I just grabbed the update to NEDi 2.1 from the App Store, and it seems to be working.

I mashed the "check for downloads" button several times to no avail before I noticed that I have to enable the tutorials I want on the library screen. Once I did that, placing big juicy checkmarks next to the names of the tutorials I needed to download, tapping "check for downloads" one more time did the trick.

For anyone who, like me, got some, but not all of your tutorials into NEDi after running the conversion, this will download only the ones you're missing. It's just what I would have hoped for.

This process has not been smooth, I won't pretend it has been, but in my case at least, the kinks seem to be worked out, and I appreciate that. Thanks for taking care of it, MPV.

I second that.

Tutorials downloading from Internet as I write this. There is no syncing anymore with the computer.

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand how the sync/stream works between the desktop and iPhone versions of NED. The NED tutorial videos allude to the two talking to each other via wireless but I'm not sure how that is supposed to be configured.

Those videos are out of date. In version 2.1 of NEDi, they scrapped the sync function, presumably because there were enough of us for whom it didn't fully work. So now your idevice downloads the videos you want directly from MPV instead of converting and syncing.

But it seems that dowloaded videos are not compressed. It takes more space in my iPhone...

Hi Mybloody,

What do you mean? All videos must be compressed to playback in iPhone/iPodTouch format.

:)

It's proper cool, that's what it is. Hadn't paid much attention to macprovideo and their newsletters as I didn't have the time, that is, until the words iPhone jumped out at me. Now I'm onboard and working my way through Logic 101 from my iphone. Then I can have a quick practise of what I've learnt without having to sift through a tome first.
Thanks MPV!

[quote:]

Videos are indeed compressed, just into a different format then the N.E.D. videos. Unfortunately the N.E.D. videos do not play back on the iPhone so we have to use H264 which doesn't compress nearly as nice.
