only one issue so far, other than that, this thing is pretty freakin sweet!

- it takes a while for the titles to appear, like the majority of them appear as "downloading stream data..."

The first time you launch it, it has to download all the library data ... takes about 5 or 10 minutes. This only happens once and from there-on the data is stored locally on the device.

It is pretty cool hey ... Our videos look great on the iPad, and no mistake!!

Martin, Good Job.

The app works well. I apologize for my impatience before, but I'm happy this is finally out. At least now seeing that I use my iPAD when I travel, I can now take macprovideo stuff with me. I have long since given up on my laptop.

Again, good job. Sometimes It takes a while (I Understand), but streaming/download videos seem to work well.

Well now all we need is some new great videos to go with the app.

Thanks

Hi,

Looks really good. Also much more responsive than nedi has ever been on my iPad. Thanx guys.

some suggestions:

- allow re-arranging donwloaded tutorials, it seems they are sorted in order of download only
- allow maintenance of user data from within the application, including purchase of further tutorials
- bookmarks to play tutorials from particular position, both, individually marked or last position

Cheers

Glad you like it so far!

You can already rearrange downloads ... just press the "download cue" button while downloading and you'll see a list of tutorials that are cued ... drag to rearrange them.

The other features are in the works. This is version 0.1 of N.E.D. for iPad so it's technically beta ... we've got a lot more coming soon! Just wanted to get this version out the door and get some feedback before building out the other features ... :)

Martin, first time I thought about iPad and N.E.D. I got impatient. Wow, I always liked the idea having your tutorials in my pocket. But with the iPhone ... let's just say the screen and the resolution were small. You could get the idea and it was better than having to drive in that train for 2 hours with nothing to do, but not more.

The iPad really is AWESOME for this. Taking my tutorials everywhere, looking at them in the train, in the back seat of a car, in the hotel when travelling. Again: AWESOME! Good job, I really like the easy to use interface. No clutter.

Perfect. Thanks a lot to all at MacProVideo!

Thanks for the kind words Chris... I have to say I agree with you. NED for iPad rocks in a big way. In fact what I like even more than NED on the iPad is the fact it's going to get better and better ;-)

Guys this is absolutely fantastic. I love using it and it means I can take the tutorials with me virtually anywhere.

I'm digging the interface, very nice and good use of the Ipad's look and feel.

Seems to be quite a bit of wasted real estate, ie, black space at the top when I view videos. Is it possible to make the videos bigger and use this space?

G'day Martin and Co

Very much looking forward to having my tutorials with me to watch during commutes.

Is there any way of getting the ones I've already downloaded to my Mac onto my iPad besides redownloading them directly. Unfortunately one download chews through half my monthly data allocation.

Thanks and cheers, Gobit

Hi Gobit,

You need to download tutorials direct to your iPad currently...

Are you using your home/studio Wi-Fi connection rather than 3G? Do you have a fixed data allocation for monthly broadband in NZ?

Thanks

It doesn't run off any kind of cellular data plan as Apple has restrictions in place on the amount data an app can use an any given time.

Find a free wifi network? Starbucks loves giving up free bandwidth =)

Hi Rounik and Skye

Unfortunately I don't have fixed line broadband, way too expensive to install the wires outside the main population centres.

Yes, our 3G connections in New Zealand have monthly caps (mine is 3GB) and the cost of going over them is horrendous.

Skye, I get around Apple's 3G iPad data restriction because I use a Novatel MiFi 2352 which gives me WiFi via a 3G connection.

Unfortunately free WiFi is nowhere as widely available in New Zealand as in North America. :-(

Is transferring downloaded tutorials from a Mac direct to an iPad something you could look at for a future NED iPad update?

Thanks and regards, Gobit

Does the app on the iPad give you some kind of indication that it is downloading my tutorials?

I have waited for 20 minutes now after pressing the checked for downloads button and no tutorials appear. My internet connection is not the issue. I'm at home on my Wifi connection and it logs in fine and i have no problems browsing the web on the iPad.

Logging in via the browser and NED on the Mac reveals all my downloads without a problem.

Any ideas?

Hi bortraws,

You are a subscriber to our library, so you don't have any downloads. Downloads are purchased separately from your subscription. But take note that as a subscriber, you automatically get 25% off all downloads! Just login on our home page and then add tutorials to your shopping cart.

Otherwise, you can stream tutorials directly to N.E.D. for iPad using the Stream button in the bottom left of the window.

Then i don't understand because I have definitely bought 2 titles which are available for download in my NED desktop and which i used with my iphone NEDi app when we used to have to sync the two applications.

They are not available though in the iPad version of NEDi.

What's different now then?

Regards,

Bortraws

Hi bortraws,

You are correct you have two purchased download tutorials in your account and they should be downloadable to your iPad. I'm testing Flex Time tutorial now and it works great.

Can I ask a few questions at this stage to understand the issue better:

- How much free space do you have on your iPad?

- Is your WiFi connection definitely enabled (on your iPad)?

- When you open NED for iPad do you follow these steps:

1. Log-in using the same username and password you used when purchasing your tutorials.

2. Tap on "Downloads" in bottom left corner.

3. Tap on the switch next to your tutorials in the list to turn them "On".

NED for iPad should automatically begin downloading and you will see a progress bar in the bottom right corner.

4. The tutorial title should appear under the Library area.

Hope this helps,
Rounik

Hi Rounik,

- Yes, i have plenty of free space in my 64GB iPad.

- My internet connection is fine as i've answered some of these replies on my iPad (incl. This one).

- I log in with the same account that shows my downloads in the desktop version of NED. I only have one account and the login button in the top right corner changes to logout so i should be logged in. I then click on downloads in the bottom left corner. In the right column it shows no downloads. When i click on "Check downloads" it does absolutely nothing besides a short spin of the network busy icon. When i click on the small ABC icon it says "displaying 0 downloads".

Beats me!

Rgrds,

Bortraws
