Hey everyone,

After months in review, the new iPad app is out. Update your existing versions or download here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/macprovideo/id381846949?mt=8

It requires iOS 4.3 or later.

Please let us know what you think.

Thanks.

I wish you had done a native app and not a web app.

The buttons for install and cancel and update are non-standard size (the Apple HIG has a great section on this).

Scrolling the list pauses downloads.

Putting the app in the background and resuming puts playing video into a state where I can't play video anymore.

When I resume a video, it starts at the beginning. This was my main gripe with the old one, in conjunction with the app not being multi-tasking compatible.

The app feels more like a we page than a native app (not surprising given it mostly is).

If the iPad goes to sleep while downloading, the downloads are wedged when you come back and can't be restarted (at least I haven't found a way yet)

Going to a point in a video with the scrubber disables the play button. I an work around this by using the fast-play video button, then turning it off.

When playing a video (Superior Drummer in this case), when one video ends, the next one will not start. It shows 0.00 of 0.00 and I have to go back to the menu to select the next video.

All of my comments so far are about downloaded content and not streaming content.

If I pause video, I cannot unpause it. I have to use the fast-play then turn that off trick to get the video to start playing again.

Using AirPlay is just about useless. Whenever your iPad's screen times out, AirPlay stops. No, that isn't normal. I can turn off my screen while watching movies or YouTube videos, which makes it a problem with this app, not AirPlay. It works if you don't mind tapping your iPad screen very 30 seconds to keep the video going. What a shame nobody actually tests these apps for functionality. If they do, they only try it for a second or two.

@Woolie, how does it feel like a web app?

It's fully native.

Huh, native. You guys worked hard to make non-HIG controls. You sure it isn't a little native almost everything a webview?

Honestly, I don't care if it sn't native as long as the functionality is there. See above for bugs and issues.

Nothing inside the app is running inside a web view.

Ok, I got it. It is native.

I am hoping for an update soon. And hope you figure the bugs out.

I stand by my previous invitation to help with development (for free even) or even beta testing. I hope you use TestFlight for beta testing.

Good luck.

Thx for the update. Play/pause now works. Next video still does not play when prev finishes though. I should be able to play all videos without having to manually pick the next one.

Also, the chapter panel now works.

Getting better, keep up the work and thanks again.
