Logic 9's Selective Track Import Feature

Preview these Logic Pro Tutorial-Videos
Logic has some very useful import features; you can import almost anything that is in any of your other Logic projects - Screensets, Hyper Sets, Video settings and Midi settings. But, most of all, I like how you can import a whole channel strip with its included Aux sends, Inserts, and I/O configuration as well as it's MIDI or Audio data.
Have you ever created a great synth sound with a catchy lead line that doesn't work in the current project but might work better elsewhere? No need to bounce or export MIDI files and save channel strip settings... Logic makes simplifies the process with its Selective Track Import features.
01 Logic Browser
In Logic's Browser navigate to where your Logic Projects are, choose a project and click on the Logic project file.
Once you have clicked on the Logic Project, the Browser window will display the entire instrument, audio and auxiliary channel strips that exist in the project.
02 Choose What You Want to Import
Logic allows you to tick the items you wish to import. The content (MIDI data or audio data) instrument, plug-ins, aux sends and I/O configuration. You can even import the automation, volume, and pan settings used in the project.
I have decided to import an FM8 instrument I designed. I have also included the MIDI content, plugins and automation, and send levels. Once you have decided what you wish to import, click on the Add button.
This will now add the channel strip and its respective settings to your arrange page. How easy is that!
You can also navigate to the Import Settings tab of the Browser page and choose to import Hyper Sets and Screensets, etc. from that project.
Refer to the screenshot for the other Import Settings which you can choose.
I find these Import features in Logic very handy and great time savers. Without them I would have to launch that project, export the channel strip settings and export the MIDI, plus it's very fiddly to export all the automation data.
03 Conclusion
Experiment with these Import Features in your Logic Projects. You will be amazed at how useful they are, sometimes you can find gems hiding in your projects that you can utilize even better in other projects.
