In continuation of the recent MIDI Editing Quick Tip: The Art of Selection, I'd like to share one essential and marvelous work flow tip that can save you huge amounts of time. If you've ever needed to quickly fix the Velocity of selected notes in the Piano Roll, Event List, etc to the same value, you've probably had to enter values manually, or you've cracked open the Transform window. There is another way, and once you know it, you won't look back or even consider the other options as this method is super quick.

01 - Go Velocity

Select the Velocity Tool. I like to bring up the floating Tool Box by pressing the Esc key and the Toolbox appears right next to my cursor.

If you're a real speed-demon, then press Esc followed by "9". This will assign the Velocity Tool as your Left Click Tool.

02 - Select your Notes

Drag a selection area around your notes... or hold down the Shift key to select note events you click on. Refer back to "Quick Tip: The Art of Selection in Logic" for more tips on advanced note event selection techniques!

03 - Those Blessed Modifier Keys!

If you now drag up/down on one note event, the Velocity will be proportionally increased/decreased respectively across all note events. But by dragging on one note event with the Velocity tool and then holding down Shift and Option the Velocity of all selected note events will snap to your current Velocity value.

Remember this will work in the Piano Roll, Score Editor. In the Event List there is no Velocity tool so simply drag on the value in the Velocity (Val) column and then hold down Shift and Option to fix the Velocity value.
