Hi sounds and knobs,

The stems are in this article... Follow the instructions above under the heading "How to Enter" and you should see the stems in the SoundCloud box. Then click on them to preview them. You can click on the "Download" button to download them.

@Lung : You can submit multiple entries if you like!
Aug 25, 2012
Rounik
@Julius - both are perfectly acceptable. Really, using the raw stems and mixing them in that style and submitting is good.

Equally, transforming the original into another style is also great!

Is it already closed?!? I just uploaded a song and it's 4 minutes to midnight in Germany (CET). Which means midnight PST is still 8 hours away!
Or did I miss something?

Rounik
Hi Michael,

I'm afraid so. Midnight on September 14 already happened. 12am is the beginning of the next day... in this case friday September 14th.

We'll be sure to make this clearer for the next remix contest.

Best,
R

Well, last time on the Lauren Balthrop remix contest the dead line was midnight on june 11th (it said in the TOC: "The closing date for entries is midnight on June 11th, 2012."). This time it said "The closing date for entries is midnight on September 14th, 2012."

I had asked you what midnight you mean back then, too, and you answered:

"Rounik
closing date for entries is midnight PST = 8am on 12th June BST."

So why is it different this time?
Since there have been many new entries yesterday (on September 14th) I'm not the only one who thought it would be midnight between 14th and 15th!

So please consider the entries from the 14th to be valid.

Thanks.

Hi Michael and All entrants that submitted on the 14th September unto 11.59pm Pacific Time / 7.59am BST...

First, I'd like to apologise for any lack of clarity and I fully acknowledge that I could've been clearer in the T&C - and in the next contest we definitely will use a different time so there's no confusion.

Secondly, any entries submitted unto 11.59pm PT on 14th September will be included in the judges consideration. I'll pass this note on to them now.

Thanks to all and good luck!

Hi Ben,

Aiming to announce the results tomorrow. Will be in a new article on MPVHub (you'll see it on the main page of macProVideo.com).

It'll also include a video-wrap up of all the best remixes that didn't make top-three... but the Dubway crew wanted to shout out :)

Thanks again for your patience... not long to go now!

Well.. now that the decision has been taken I can talk. I wish to thank you for this opportunity, because I learned a precious lesson by mixing this song, something about "masking", which, before this contest, I thought being my worst enemy, but it can be a very useful thing when you want things sound powerful. I actually draw my automations before eqing, strange but true (it's the first time I do something like that)! I'm very happy for this finding and I have to thank you for this.
Cheers!

@Angelo, automation is key! ..some people just setup they're EQs and Comps and think the job is done. Try experimenting with volume automation both before and after a compressor. Mostly, post-compressor automation gets the job done (especially if it's doing a lot of gain reduction). But sometimes the recorded performance itself could have some softer parts that the compressor doesn't always pickup...so instead of automating the threshold, just automate the volume before the compressor.

Mixing this track was definitely a learning experience for me too. Probably the first time I spent a whole day just trying to get the drums to sound right xD

Hey, thanks for your reply.
What I actually meant is that I kinda worked backwards for this mixing. :)
