Scott Freiman

“Scott Freiman is a renaissance man ... both an award winning musician and entrepreneur, Scott has a long history of producing great music.”
Biography
By Martin Sitter
Scott Freiman was recommended to me by my good friend, and star macProVideo.com trainer, Steve H.! After talking with Scott for a bit I came to understand his immense musical abilities ... I knew we had to have him as a trainer at macProVideo.com.
Scott's credentials as a musician are nothing short of breath-taking. For starters, Scott may be the only person to have sold out Carnegie Hall and been a Finalist for Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.
A member of New York’s prestigious Manhattan Producers Alliance, Scott is a composer and producer whose music spans a variety of genres, from orchestral to electronic. His original music and sound design have accompanied award-winning films, animated shorts, and other multimedia projects.
Scott’s original film music has been performed at Lincoln Center (live with picture) and at a sold-out Carnegie Hall concert, “Composed By Scott Freiman.” Scott composed the original score for Undone, a feature film directed by James DePaiva. He also composed the original score for the film Exit, winner of a Best Director Platinum Award at the 38th Annual WorldFest, Houston International Film Festival. Scott’s other film scores include the award-winning Bodies (Ojai Film Festival -- Best Narrative Short) and Foreign Policy.
Scott was sound editor and re-recording mixer for Encounter Point, a documentary from Ronit Avni and Julia Bacha, the writer of Control Room (Tribeca Film Festival, San Francisco Int’l Film Festival – Audience Award, Best Documentary). Scott has also provided sound editing, design, and mixing for several other films, including Puppy Love, the new series from Sex and the City producer, Amy B. Harris.
Scott is also the owner of Second Act Studio, a state-of-the-art music and video studio for composition, recording, and production designed by renowned studio architect, John Storyk. Second Act Studio has played host to a wide range of musicians -- from children to Grammy winners.
Scott is a partner in the record label, Garagista Music. Scott co-produced several recordings for the label, including Lisa Lynne Mathis’ debut, Hancock Place, and the holiday compilation, Not Just Another Holiday CD. Scott has also produced, arranged, and played keyboards for many other artists. Scott is also a founding partner of Outlandos Music which offers brand-building music supervision.
Scott holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Music from Yale University and a Masters of Music Composition from New York University. He was a co-founder of Credit Management Solutions, Inc., a leading financial software company where Scott served as CEO. Scott, a Finalist for Ernst & Young’s Maryland Entrepreneur of the Year, helped lead CMSI’s successful public offering and orchestrated the sale of CMSI to the First American Corporation. After fifteen years of running a public company, he embarked on a new career as a composer and studio owner.
A strong advocate for music education for children, Scott has taught composing and music technology to children of all ages. He is also on the advisory board of Renovation in Music Education (RIME), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation helping young people, arts organizations, and communities succeed through innovative music-partnership programs. And of course, Scott is also an instructor for macProVideo.com … and we could not be luckier than to have him on board!

What a Godsend these tutorials are!!! I've been muddling my way through Kore II for about six months now -- thought I could just figure it out by trial and error. After a lot of trial and an almost equal amount of error, I stumbled upon these tutorials and what a difference it has made! I feel like a have an excellent understanding of the Kore synthesis and now I'm making music like the demo's I hear on the Native Instrument site! Thanks so much!

Outstanding tutorial. NI should be ashamed at the terrible manual it provided with Kore 2. Not only is it riddled with mistakes, it is terrible in explaining how to use the product. Freiman's tutorial is spot on and he very clearly takes you through the steps. It's too bad that MacProVideo doesn't do a tutorial on Complete 6. That would be the perfect compliment.

This was an outstanding presentation, IMHO. And that's from the viewpoint of having given similar technical presentations over several years' time to demanding professionals worldwide. Well-organized and exceptionally well-delivered, this course is very much worth the time and tuition (I purchased the HD and will be reviewing as the need arises). macProVideo would do well to commission a course by Scott that covers just the Orchestral elements of Kontakt, demonstrating how to get the best, mo...

The only knock so far is that the instructor is using Koresounds in many of the lessons that are not in the basic Kore2 package, leading to some frustration trying to follow along closely. I highly recommend this tutorial. It'll take a while for you to get the best out of Kore 2 using the manual and asking questions on forums. This covers everything in reasonable detail with clear examples. There's a lot in it but it's divided up into many bite-size parts and is well indexed so you can go back and reference any part of the programme. It is well presented, easy to follow, simple to learn and can be to hand when required.

Hi there, I watched the video tutorials several times now and it's really so helpful that it makes working with elastic audio within Pro Tools so much more easier for me. What I really like is that it's chopped up in many items (42 in thi case) and if I only want to know something about 1 thing I can quickly navigate to that section and watch it again. One thing for sure, I will hardly ever go back to the "same old" boring paper manual ever again after I've watched how Scott Freiman explained the so called 'complicated' NI Kore. He made the whole learning process simple, fun and easy to follow, on your face and believe it or not, outright entertaining. Thanks to all the lovely people of MacProVideo who took their time to make it happen. Rakibul H. Khan

I thought this was an immaculate tutorial. Narrated descriptively, covering all the major facets of the program, this tutorial is great for both the beginner and the intermediate user. I really hope to see a follow-up that has multilayered sound examples and more advanced routing tutorials possibly.

This was a pretty good tutorial for someone fresh with these intuitive programs. I definitely can't wait to see a follow-up to this, yet I think it may be beneficial for both parties if each instrument had it's own dedicated tutorial video, such as Kore... namely Reaktor 5?

A must for anyone who is starting with Ni Synths. The best downloadable tutorial available so far. Easy to understand and pleasant to listen to. The only reason for a 4 star rating is that the excerises are too short and too simple. Still, this is the best tutorial for Native Instruments Komplete 5 that I found after a very long search.

Not bad. Some tutorials are a bit brief and very similar to what you can get of the NI website, like the massive tutorial. Fm 8 tutorial was great and in depth. Overall worth checking out. Only thing that did annoy me a bit was the exercises are with Kore and not really on the synth themselves. I understand that komplete and kore work together really well but I was hoping for more on the synths in this one. Like creating a bass sound from scratch with massive or an arpeggiatored line in Fm8 as a...

NI KORE 101 is one of the best investments I've made in 2008. As soon as I started the tutorial, I was hooked! In a matter of minutes I had answers to all my questions about KORE. Once I went thru the chapters of interest to me I was so impressed that I went back to the beginnig and watched the entire tutorial one more time. I was very satisfied with the content as well as the instructor, Scott Freiman. Satisfied enough that I purchased the next tutorial by Scott on Native Instruments Komplete, ...

The Kore tutorial was excellent... this one is even better. It is a must have for anyone who owns Komplete. And if you own Kore as well, you are in for a treat. Especially good for Reaktor and FM8. The instructor is not only very knowledgeable... he is a very good teacher. his voice tone keeps the listener interested. Well worth the price... and more.

All of your tutorials have been so helpful, i have bought so many, i keep coming back to learn new skills from you. The course outline and the style are easy, most tutorials out there require you to watch a lengthy one or you have to keep clicking lessons one after the other. yours is different. well done! I am yet to see the kontakt part of the komplete set of tutorials. how soon will i be able to watch them. Thanks babatunde (London)

The Core NI Kore training video is among the best in the MacProVideo.com library. It is well-designed, comprehensive and Scott Freiman presents excellently. A minor criticism is that the audio and video are sometimes noticeably not in sync. When it comes to learning about Kore, what it is and how to use it, Core NI Kore delivers. I look forward to the training on Komplete, which I am about to start.

Thanks for a great tutorial. It's made my Kore 2 so much more open and welcoming.I actually understand the flow and potential of it now.The style and pace of the tutorial is great.
