The more I go back to Martin Delaney's tut to refresh & deepen my Live knowledge the more I appreciate it, he's not a great orator but a truly great Ableton expert even though it's about version 7 that I bought a while ago. It would be great if he laid down his know how with version 8, specially with setting up & playing with different midi controllers. He doesn't seem to have any serious rivals in that category that I've seen so far. Live is such an amazingly layered & flexible musical tool, it takes time to explore all the possibilities & I certainly wouldn't want to settle for one formula with it.
This tutorial really helped me get a headstart into Ableton - especially with the session view which was totally new to work with. Its also loaded with a lot of tips and tricks in most lessons. Martin drawls a little and IMHO, it could have been a little faster
I'm fascinated by Ableton Live & M. Delaney is a great expert but his teaching style might be too layed back for me, in his tone of voice there was not enough pointers to specifics , he slides though lessons evenly as if reading an instruction manual. He knows this app so well I'm sure he could teach Ableton in his sleep.
Hi,technically it's excellent but it would be superb if you were to give an example of producing a basic music track by using Simpler,operator,etc..This would be fun and very intuitive as at the moment I'm going backwards and forwards into ableton..It would make it sink in so much more if for ten-fifteen minutes one of you started to lay a track down from the beginning.obviously it doesn't need to be a club classic..your instructor on the tutorial is so knowledgeable but he sounds bored to death...
Very good content ... movea alittle slow ..... Enjoy and have learned alot Looking for more on 7
the videos are great , very helpfull , you have acces to every aspect of the software detailed by sections, it makes it easy to go to a topic whenever you want. It motivates your creativity good
Good starting point for anyone interested in using Ableton. I look forward to some more in depth classes in the near future.
this tutorial really helped me to understand ableton. i learned very fast. i´m looking forward to see more ableton tutorials!
Like many others who have this product, I have the previous tutorial that Martin Delaney did. I have to say that I do tend to agree with another reviewer who commented on the rather discordant and tuneless content featured in these videos. However, I must also say that Martin has a comprehensive knowledge of Live and I really learnt a lot and that's what counts. Martin's style is very laid back and quintessentially English - it just takes a little getting used to. I am also from the UK so I get it! I guess one of the great things about owning these tutorials (and I have many, many MPV titles!) is that you can come back to them time and time again and refresh your memory. So, overall, if you have Live 7, buy this tutorial- it will definitely help you. Now..............for Live 8!!!
I was originally afraid to get this tutorial because I thought it was going to be identical to the ableton live 6, but it was not, it was better. You people at macprovideo really know how to take care of your customers and the discounts you offer are a wonderful incentive to a wonderful product!! Thanks again Martin Delaney, BIG UP!!!
The tutorial was a bit quick and Martin 's voice is kinda mumbly !! Wished Steve H or Martin Sitter knew Ableton haha all in all tho, good tutorial !
This video presents a good overview of the basic features of Live. There are some useful tips for more experienced users, however the narrator's presentation is rather monotone and boring. Even worse, the musical examples he plays while showing off Live's features are tediously repetitive, boring and out of tune with each other. Believe me, live can produce more than bleeps and blips.
Really enjoyed using the video tutorials..much more usefull than reading a book and quicker to reference.. also like that things are explained mostly jargon free..
A very good in depth rguide on how to use ableton, an in depth section on how to dj with it would have been useful as it only scratched the surface of this area. I'll have to look elsewhere for that, overall very good though.
Great tutorial. I am a novice in the digital production world and found this video to outstanding. I have watched lots of other tutorials and found this to be my favorite thus far. The lessons are broken down clearly and in the right durations. I look forward to checking out the Logic 8 101.
I didn't really enjoy this course very much.. I found the presentation style dull and the content wasn't nearly as good as the many other course (logic and Reason) that I have purchased. I think this could be improved.
This set of training videos are mainly for the novice into Ableton Live, but also the experienced user can obtain some new tricks/inspiration. For the price its great. Only the voice of Martin Delaney makes you kinda sleepy at times.
Hi, I thought the Live 7.0 DVD was fantastic. Mr. Delaney has done an extremely thorough job. Nothing more to ask for. First class work!!!! : )
Overall a good job, especially for the novice (me). Would have liked to have seen the same functionality for the PC version of the NED player as the Mac though.
I found the Ableton Live 101:Core Live 7 to be very helpful, nice and quick, straight to the point short vid's. It was a nice pace all the way through. I'd definatly recommend this to my friends and any nOObs.
Extremely good core tutorial, the complete ground-zero guide for everyone interested in using Live. Some visualization problems (bad aspect ratio)
GREAT! i only bought ableton cuz my niece is a cheerleader and the half wit who did the competition music for her team is incompetent. having zero knowledge in electronic anything, my mix killed his after 1 day of macprovid ,tutorials (ableton 7) i highly recommend this sight to anyone who is "music first" and "tech second" the instructors have an excellent feel for disseminating the relevant material for beginners, thanx Martins'
Another excellent tutorial... Just when I thought I knew Live 7 here comes another one from Martin showing bits and pieces and missing links that would've taken me quite some time to figure it out by myself. Good job guys, as usual 5 out of 5! keep them coming!
