As a long time GarageBand user, this video basically sold me on Logic. Informative and helpful.

As an acoustic guitar player for 45 years with occasional ventures into electric guitar playing this video is a revelation. A refreshing insight into a side of guitar setups and history I needed to understand. Without doubt one of my favourite videos. Toby gets the mix of HowTo's spot on and keeps the viewers interest from start to finish. The guitar virtualization function of Logic was one of the major factors in my choosing it as my DAW on Mac. This video covers everything you need to get the best out of your setup and has extra chapters explaining other uses for the Amps, Pedalboards and Stomp Boxes. Love the video and I recommend it even if you don't play guitar. Thanks!

Toby's tutorial is awesome! I'm not a guitarist and learned something every step of the way. I love the tips and tricks shown, that reveal Logic's hidden capabilities that would be difficult to find in the manual.

Nice 1 Toby! Enjoyed the well laid out tutorial. Gr8 in-depth explanation of the different amps, which was quite fun! Just as a footnote, when using the Stealth Pedal to automate the amps, i find the signal coming in to be quite strong & distorted. Any pointers on how to get round that? BTW, "Sup. Drummer tutorial has also helped clear lots of things up! Cheers.

I have purchased quite a few of MacProVideo's tutorials and I must say that they are EXCELLENT! Every one of them that is connected with recording/Logic are not only very informative but easily referenced for individual queries. The most recent one that I purchased was the guitar toolbox tutorial which even though I had been using the Amp Designer and Pedalboard previously, a lot of hidden features that I didn't know existed have now come to light. All in all, along with Logic's incredible tutorials, I have all the knowledge at a finger tip.

9.5 out of 10. This is a great tutorial uncovering and explaining how most (if not all) of the guitar amps and plug-ins work in the new version of Logic. If you plan to use Logic to record guitar, this is a must have tutorial!

as always macpro tutorials are the best i started off with logic and would never have fathomed out most of it on my own exactly the same with the guitar tutorials (the best for me as im a guitarist not a keyboard player) anyone whose into computer recording is missing out on a whole world of experience (for not a lot of money) if they dont subscribe to macpro keep up the good work see u in the new year///hope u all have a good one cheers paul

Oh and BTW I really loved the guitar Toby laid down in the 'Making A Big Lead Tone'. He should record a full version of it I'd buy it! ;)

This was an invaluable tutorial in helping one unlock the power of Logic 9's amp and pedal plug-ins. I think it got particularly interesting further into the course when Toby started explaining how to sculpture certain guitar sounds and using it in combination with the other effects plug-ins that ship with Logic. I was wondering, perhaps in the show notes, if there could be a tech break-down of what guitars/interfaces Toby was using for this tutorial. Excellent stuff once again guys. Many thanks

this is a fantastic tutorial. finally, a vid that demonstrates practical uses of a specialized feature in logic in a very cool way. with lot of great tricks and techniques that run pretty deep. and not just for guitar players. very, very inspiring!

Very helpful and a great presentation by Toby! Sometimes help video's put me to sleep and quickly at that,this is not one of those times.I am feeling much better about using Logic's fine guitar Amp simulation tools now and thanks to Mr Pitman it has become a real pleasure to do so...

I purchased this video over the weekend. MPV consistently turns out great material and this was no exception. Toby's presentation was really useful and he offered great insight throughout. I was particularly impressed by his thorough explanation of pedal board routing and thought his explanation of replicating The Edge's and Satriani's tones was excellent. I highly recommend this video!

Toby Pitman does a great job in this tutorial. There is both the nitty-gritty of using Logic's guitar specifics, and information about actually creating sounds. Highly recommended.

This video is excellent. Toby Pitman does a wonderful job from beginning to end. He starts at the very beginning and covers a tremendous amount of information. It ends up in some very intricate and informative videos of Logic 9's pedalboard. But all are explained very clearly. It certainly opened up the doors for me. You will not be disappointed with this. I have bought several of the macProVideos. They are all good. But this one is by far the best. Do not hesitate, get it! I hope Toby will do more videos in the future.

This tutorial is fantastic! Toby goes into a lot detail describing each amp, pedal and gives a shorty histroy on the each particular model. He also gives great advice as far doubling guitar parts with different effects and use of automation, assignment to expession pedals etc. He breaks down a couple different sounds which include Satch's lead guitar sounds and Edge's rhythm guitar sound. I wish he would have gone into a little more detial in creating a couple more sounds.

Absolutely the best tutorial I've seen on MPV! By chance I saw his tutorial on the main page of MPV and it was exactly the tutorial I was looking for. He goes into every aspect that I (and hopefully you) need for understanding the functions of Logic's guitar pedalboard (and more) setup. Toby is quick and to the point without a lot of tutorial bloat and I highly recommend it for anyone that is getting into recording electric guitar through Logic. A+!

Was skeptical about this tutorial but it's answered more questions than I realised I had to begin with. It also has all the little tips and gems in it that have obviously come from a very long time spent learning them on the battlefield. Very well presented and ordered, excellent tutorial.

Toby did a great job on going over all aspects of guitar recording in Logic, showing all the amps and cabinets, pedal boards and presets. His training was clear, and easy to understand. Saved me a ton of time going through the manuals.

Great tutorial that really covers how to deal with your lined guitars in Logic. I thought I knew the most important stuff about Amp Designer and Pedalboard before. Now I realize I didn´t. Very good.

I've been waiting for a tutorial for guitarists, and Toby really delivered! I now have a thorough understanding of Pedalboard and Amp Designer -- I'm a big analog guy, and I've always thought of amp and effect models as a last resort until Toby showed me what Logic's arsenal can do. I also appreciated the other recording tips and methods he showed us, and just plain feel more comfortable about getting the kinds of guitar sounds I want to get.

Really nicely done. Provided a lot of insight into all the guitar-based tools in Logic. The author clearly knows his stuff.

I've only watched this as far as the pedalboard import chapter as my brain is full! I learnt loads from this so far. The "secret" EQ drop down on the amp models was my favourite so far. The description of each amp was useful to me as I wasn't sure what model they were based on. And the little factoids that pop up are fun too. Couple of wee things that perhaps could be tidied? This is a really small nerdy point, and I'm almost ashamed to write it! In the lesson about noise it talks about interference from lighting and computer screens. The only screens that give trouble are CRTs, the modern flatscreen TFT screens don't radiate the same interference. The picture on the screen is of an iMac with a TFT screen. Maybe some people do get interference from these, but it's pretty minimal compared to a CRT. OK, I'll take my anorak off now!! It would be nice for when the amp heads are being demoed if the settings on the display reflected what we hear, like it does in the stompbox demos. It's probably only turning up the gain pot! Sounds like ch 20 was originally going to be before chapter 18 judging by the first and last comments on that chapter. Ch26 demoing the Hi drive pedal. I think the graphics for example 1 and 2 are wrong way round, also for the retro chorus in ch 27. Ch 28 and Ch 29 "Delay", and "Filter" have their names swapped. Don't get me wrong, I'm a guitar player (or more accurately I own several guitars!) and I really have enjoyed this tutorial so far, I've been watching it in one sitting and have finally called "pause" cos I need to eat! I have a lot of the LOGIC tutorials from MacProVideo, and this is one of my favourites already. Well worth the price.
