The best tutorial I've seen on mixing so far. Very thorough in detail and easy to follow. Great Job David! Please do more! Thank you!
Mr Isaac is one of the few that I can listen to and hear a big difference in the before and after.
excellent lesson and well presented by david issac. this is my first lesson mixing r'n'b in logic. i found the lessons most helpful. well done to ya all at mac pro video.
Very good course. David Isaac breaks it down very clearly and I gained a lot of insight for mixing this genre:-) I found it fascinating that in the whole tutorial, I didn't see him use any compressors on the tracks. Perhaps that is a definitive trademark of the era. No wonder my R&B mixes sound over compressed;-) If you like the dry and tight R&B sound of the 70's this is perfect for you. Truly great course!!!
I just wanted to say, it was a great tutorial and really helped me to improve my mixes. I´m semi professional, have worked in pro studios, had some of my music published but now just work from my home studio. I originally learned a lot when I was working on my tracks with a studio engineer, unfortunately that´s no longer possible for me at the moment so this tutorial was something quite similar. What an opportunity to learn from somebody with so much experience. What I gained most from this was moderating how much eq, effects etc I use, use of panning and giving instruments more space, I kind of knew that in theory but didn´t always follow it, after watching the tutorial I went back to a track I had just started, applied quite a bit of what I learned and wow what a difference. A big thanks to David Issacs for doing it and to Macprovideo for offering it, I look forward to more of these kinds of tutorials from seasoned professionals with a lot of commercial experience. A bargain at this price to learn so much!
Really insightful review of taking an R&B song through the mixing process to get a suitable yet interesting sound.
I've just finished David Isaac's Mixing R&B. It's unbelievable how much of his experience he's let on. There's so much priceless info; and I sure will be using this course as a reference for a while..
I've just learnt so much on mixing vocals using buses etc. The Mixing R&B course is so good, it's ridiculous how much I've learnt in such a short time. I wish they were more stars on here to give.....
I just learnt a great deal in the mixing drums section of the Mixing R&B course. It's absolutely fantastic being tutored by a super pro with a few Grammy's under his belt - it does show a great deal..
Even though it is not the type of music I would focus on, this was a pretty good tutorial! The guy really knows his stuff.. The before and after examples are amazing!! Def great tips for any genre!!
Your explanation is very clear and detailed, it's really rewarding, thank you very much for this tutorial
My favorite tutorial so far. Particularly the drum mixing. Fantastic.
As a long time GarageBand user, I found this video to be an excellent resource to refer to as I continue to work with GB. Although some of the features are not relevant to GB, the principles totally ARE. One of my favorites!!
Dave, this was excellent and packed with great information. Thank you very, very much. I don't do R&B specifically, but most of the information is still helpful no matter what genre of music.
Very good and clear examples of what he is doing.
Thank you Dave! I appreciate you sharing your insights and experience which I know will prove invaluable to anyone who watches these videos.
Hats off to David Isaac. This video was very helpful and informative. I'm a rock & roll guy but David's insight into how he prepares and mixes projects applies to all genres of music, not just R&B. I would highly recommend this video to others, regardless of your style preference of music. On a separate note, it would be helpful if MacProVideo were to offer transcripts of their videos. I'm going to re-review the Logic 403 video and take notes but would love to have transcripts to refer to instead. Just a suggestion that I think would be helpful to users (and perhaps an additional item to sell).
Great to go through the mix with someone with that much experience!
I was a long time Garage Band and Soundtrack Pro user apprehensive about Logic. This tutorial has given me the confidence and joy of using a pro application that does it all. I tentatively purchased Logic Express initially but I will be upgrading to Logic Pro studio. This was money well spent.
Wow! Truly a great experience to be sitting in on a mix with someone with this depth of knowledge. This tutorial gave me valuable insight as to how I can achieve a first class mix with many types of music. Really Great!
The subtleties of this genre are masterfully covered by David Isaac. I hope to see more from this teacher and would definitely purchase any of his collections. This has been one of the best investments I've made thus far for my production company.
Great. I produce, record, and mix Christian hip-hop, and this tutorial gave me a lot of insight that I can use for the glory of God. Thanks!
