A good overview of a broad range of Logic's plugins. Highly recommended for beginner Logic users. It serves as an excellent demystifying process for all those Logic plugin UIs. It is also a good introduction to EQ and Dynamics in Logic, which is very important.

Very useful and entertaining. I find I go back to this tutorial whenever I need to brush up on the Logic plugs. It would have been good to see a full mixing and mastering session tackled using the logic plugs.

explains the mysteries of vital audio tools very well to simplify the process and using hands-on real time examples (as all your tutorials) really opens the information up. All of your tutorials lack just one thing; an index. Sometimes I get to a point and think, "ahh, thats in a tutorial somewhere" I then waste all the time your tutorials save me in Logic looking for a small piece of info, how to close something or similary stupid! Seems a bit old this one so it won't make a 5!

really enjoyed the videos. Found them very helpful and although some may find the "first principles" approach unhelpful, for me it gave me a ggod place to start with the plug ins, most of which i have already been using for about a year. One irritation however was the use of the logic 7 style of plug in. I am using logic pro 8 and the styling is quite different, particularly the multipressor (which was the plug-in upon which my purchase was aimed). Thank you

Excellent tutorial of Logic's plug-ins. Steve H as usual provides great detail about the various plug-ins and their functionality. Would be great to have an updated version for Logic 8 that includes some plug-ins not covered and maybe more on plug-ins used during mastering. Those are both nice to haves and at the end of the day, this tutorial provided me a plethora of useful information.

Excellent tutorials - as ever! Although I have used the plug-ins for a while, the tutorials showed me things I never knew and taught me to be more creative in my use of them. The teaching methods are clear and very user friendly (and I say this as a teacher myself). Thank you once again.

This video contains so many valuable tips and hints I was scribbling notes constantly while watching. My only suggestion would be to perhaps extend the section on equalization with more examples of how sounds can be tweaked for different mixes. This said, I found precisely that content in the "Mixing R&B" and "Mixing electronica" videos, which tie together a lot of the theory from the other videos. This is a great way to learn. Thank you!

I have been watching tutorial after tutorial and I can't stop (although my brain is numb by now). Steve and Martin created these brilliant, simple to understand and follow, and useful tutorials that I would advise anyone who doesn't want to waste his time learning "on the job" to first watch these and take notes. You will save so much time and pain! If you are serious about learning Logic, these guys make it possible and quickly (well... hours of learning, but hey...).

Very informative. Would have been nice to go into more detail on some of the plug-ins but I understand "time constraints" Maybe "short" tutorials on individual plug-ins with suggested settings or starting points, concepts behind different effects.

Good descriptions. Got 1/3 through. Interesting enough to keep me awake. I discovered how to use plug-ins I was not using, and understand how & why they work. They have improved the quality of my final output. I would dearly love to see an update: the lectures discuss Logic vers 7 & I have vers 8, with more plugins & a different appearance than vers 7

There were some plugs not featured here, but for the most part this video was very imformative. I will give it a four because I found the voicing was a little too mellow at times and I had to rewind alot when I was soothed to sleep...lol. Get all the plugs and step up the tone a bit...and its 5 territory!

Very clear and direct. Really helpful in explaining some of the user interface options that are easy to overlook. It's worth the price just for the "How To Use The Match EQ" video alone! I look forward to an update for Logic 8. Thanks!

My only complaint is that it didn't cover Logic 8. Aside from that it was a very good tutorial. I specifically like the added information - not only the basics of how the plugins work, but how they are used and tips and scenarios for using them in production.

Top marks again for the overall presentation and content. This tutorial covers and impressive range of information, providing a good working knowledge of what to use and how to use it. My only reservation is that there is so much to cover that some of the sections are, necessarily, brief. I would have paid for two separate tutorials that each go into greater depth. This said, Logic 202 is by far the most helpful guidance I have come across in this area - thanks, Steve!

Very useful package. Have just gotten stuck into it, and am impressed by the clarity of the topics covered. I think a few more plugins could also have been included though...

I have had the decided pleasure of reviewing your Logic Studio tutorials which are simply excellent. Recently, I purchased the Plug-ins: Unplugged tutorial which have brought an entirely new dimension to my music production. All in all the tutorials bring a whole new understanding to making music in a very interesting and meaningful format. I so look forward to downloading the new Logic Studio updates and the Tips and Tricks series. Keep up the good work and congratulations to the team.

I have used Logic for a very long time, and, as the program is so intricate, i always try to keep polished on its many aspects. Steve Horelick and Stephen Bennett are, in my opinion, two of the best educators on the subject of Logic that i have yet encounter. With that said, i think it's pretty awesome that you can take a private class with Steve Horelick on almost any Logic topic for an eighth of what it would cost at a seminar with 200 other people. Thanks!

I really enjoyed this video from Steve Horelick. It covers all of the essential devices anyone will need to know and provides theory for those who need background and how-to material for those who have used similar devices before and just need to find their feet in Logic. Steve did an especially effective job covering the essentials in the eq and mastering section.

Well, a bit disappointed actually. 101 video was fine but 202 is mostly aimed towards Logic user and has very little to offer for Logic Express users although it claims to be useful for both. So not an as good puchase for me this time around.

I took advantage of your three way package to purchase to purchase 101 - Mastering Logic, 103 - SOUND (and why it sounds that way) and 202 - Logic's Plug-ins: Unplugged. I found the format constructive and unchallenging and the way thing were broken down into repeatable units useful. I'm still working my way through them as a recent crossgrader from PC / Cakewalk Sonar / Sony Soundforge to Imac / Logic Pro. I'll confine most of my comments to 202, where I have completed the entire tutorial. Firstly, David Sitter has a relaxed attitude to the teaching process which is helpful when you are concentrating not just on what is being said but what is being done with the plugs. Overall, David's calm approach to things showed up a couple of flaws with some of the other material: I'm afraid you tutor on 101 has a slightly rasping voice which means I have never been able to sit through more than 45 mintues of programme material at any one time. I'm sorry to point this out to the person concerned, but that's just the way it is. I found what David did with the plugs perhaps more useful than his explanations on the whole. For example, how he tuned the compression using the maximum setting, then ramped it down. My approach being an ex-gear tweaker has tended to be from the bottom up, but David's method seems to work well for plugs and may revise my thinking on outboard units as well. I though some opportunities were missed. A little bit more on the relationship and substitution of compression, limiting, gating and expansion plugs might have been useful. For example, I would often use an expander for noisy vocal material rather than a noise gate. I also thought saving the side chain discussion for the vocoder section was a mistake as compression is a side chain controlled tool for many applications. I felt also that the EQ section was very light on the real meat of EQing with plugs. There was no real discussion of the limits of boosting as an EQ techinique. Headroom ...

Logic just has too many features to grasp by wading through the two 600 page manuals supplied with the software! Yet another clearly explained tutorial that has made Logic seem so much easier to use! Most other suppliers of tutorials leave you wanting more information but with these set everything seems so much clearer!

The hype is real, folks! I've been playing with these plug-ins since I got Logic 7 over a year ago, learning the presets and basic functions, but not really understanding what I'm doing. Watching this tutorial I found myself continually going, "Wow--this plug-in can do that?" And I'm FINALLY getting a decent handle on how those compression and limiting compressors work! Well done!

I must say this tutorial is absolutely amazing. I have been using login since version 3 and I have never seen a more clear and concise tutorial on Logic! All aspects are well explained and they are really entertaining to watch as well. If your new to Logic this series is a must have to get you up and running in record time. I learned a lot from LogicPlugins Unpluged. I have been diddle'n with compressors for years not knowing what I the heck I was doing. Now I know what those darn adjustments actually do. I also appreciate the little tricks and tips you add. I also bought Logic Complete and between the two I have learned more in a few weeks than all the manuals I have ever read.

It's not always obvious to find your way around in Logic multiple plug-ins. It can be a bit scarry too to go into all the reading to understand what is what. So if you want to have a good idea of what you can do with every plug-in, this tutorial is a very good place to start. It gives practical exemples , it's very visual and it's done with a little humour that makes it even easyer to digest. Thanks Steve, Martin and all the team. You are doing a very helpfull job.

What a great job Steve has done with this course, taking the guesswork out of logics plug-ins. There’s a ton of plug-ins in logic, and it can seem like a mind field. Once you realize that a lot of the plug-ins share similar controls (Compressor, gates, expander etc) things don’t seem so daunting. There are some great real world examples like fixing a bass guitar part using Compression removing sibilance from a vocal using the DeEssor the list goes on. Steve’s delivery is clear and very well thought out, there’s lots of humor thrown in, which makes learning fun. I would recommend this course to anyone; with a world of information packed into this course it’s a winner. John Boswell

Having purchased the complete set of Logic tutorials from macprovideo, I was expecting nothing less than another excellent tutorial. I can honestly say, I wasn't disappointed. You can read and read about the theory associated with sound processing plug-ins, but that is only half the battle. The real challenge (for me at any rate) is knowing how to use these tools in a practical, useful way. This is where the tutorial really comes into its own. Steve does a wonderful job of explaining how the whole process works. It soon becomes apparent that the plug-ins share a common design philosophy, and that really helps to put things into perspective. The sections on compression/limiting are really very informative. For me, this was a major plus. The Space Designer sections were also first-rate. This is a very powerful plug-in, but it is quite complex by its very nature. Steve breaks it down very nicely indeed and makes it much easier to get a handle on things. In short, this is a great introduction to Logic's plug-ins. Thank you, Steve and team.

Simply the best I have tried or found, and believe me when I say that I have looked. Only thing that could be better would be having these guys in my studio. I have purchased the following full versions for Logic Pro, DVD Studio Pro, 3Final cut Pro, Sound, Plugins unplugged and have not once felt my time or money ill spent.

I like this set of tutorials a lot. The tutorials introduce the basic plugins needed for mastering a song (compression, limiting, expanding, delay, reverb), as well as the effects plugins (vocoder, bitcrusher, etc). For newcomers to Logic, the control surfaces of the plugins can look intimidating and are not always intuitive. Steve does a great job in explaining the function and structure of the plugins. By watching the tutorials you get a good feeling of how to set the plugin's parameters properly. I can highly recommend this tutorial for newcomers to Logic.

You guys at MacProVideo seem to be able to find the most interesting instructors! I was able to listen to the Plug-ins Videos in one sitting. There was too much information to absorb, so I will be returning to the videos again and again. Kudos to Steve Horelick for creating an intensely interesting training experience. I am recommending this series to all my Logic buddies. I own lots of books, but, as we know, a picture is worth a thousand words, so, this set of videos is worth millions of them. I have ALL the Logic series so far, and am looking forward to more, in-depth instruction. These videos have saved me months as I transition from ProTools to Logic Pro 7.1. Whatever you do folks, GET THESE VIDEOS. They are the best value on the market for Logic Training!
