Reason is an incredible "studio in a box," and with a few tips and tricks to show you the way, you can make incredible music with it.
Over the years, Propellerhead Reason has become one of the hottest audio applications on the market, and many top producers now use Reason for every step of their production process. You can easily make a full record using nothing more than Reason ... it's done every day, in studios all over the world.
Of course, there's a steep learning curve with any program as functional as Reason. You could take time to learn this incredible audio application through the school of hard knocks, or you can let an expert instructor with years of experience show you the way! Let me introduce you to Paul Garay ...
Paul begins this tutorial program by showing you how to configure Reason to work with your computer, audio interface, and MIDI controller, then moves on to explore the interface and set up the controls you'll use while working through the rest of the program.
Next follows a full exploration of Reason's awesome software instruments, including the Redrum drum computer, the Subtractor Analog Synthesizer, the Malstrom, the NN-19 Digital Sampler, and the NN-XT Advanced Sampler. These are the arrows in your sonic quiver, and you'll learn all you need to know to get incredible sounds out of them.
You'll also learn essential tips and tricks for sequencing notes to create an arrangement, before moving on to learn how to apply Reason's DSP effects to mix and master your songs.
If you are using Reason as a tone module, you'll be excited to watch the in-depth exploration of rewiring Reason into today's top audio production software, including Apple Logic and Digidesign Pro Tools.

Your videos are great - very helpful. You guys should partner with Berkleemusic.com. Their courses are great, but your videos are much more thorough than theirs, and would've been a big help - thanks!
As usual, very helpful.
A good overview of Reason 3...and still relevant to reason 4 (although the sequencer is different)... It probably should be called an introduction to Reason rather than mastering as it really doesn't touch on any advanced features... But great it you are new to Reason.
: ) Love & Peace to these Masters of the Universe. REASON is given logic and order, With these quick lessons that drive you as if you are the one with the foot on the pedal and if you have to get up to piss you can pause the lesson to live life and get laid and keep learning in bed during the after glow of rhythm driven, REASON composed, techno-monkey-sex and I am still repeating these awesome lessons to REASONably brain-wash myself in the baptism of wave/pulse forms audibly as well as in vivid color. I am about to start the voyage to the other side of the looking glass with the delicious temptation of the Lesson 103 REX & FX : ) Nothing Can Stop Me Now!!!! www.cafepress.com/taorufeisonfire The downloads were quicker that lightning and easier to install than beauty in the eye. Now that I am the beholder I love the pace I can learn and rule this immaculate concept without any concern of being dock a letter grade for being late to class, granted who is ever late to find love at first site. With these lessons I will be able to end the economic worries of those around me and put them to work rockin' in this free world of free will and the ability to manipulate light and sound. Thanks MacProVideo ~ I'll be back!!!
Your training tutorial 'Reason 101' is exactly what i needed as a beginner. The tutorial is very easy to follow making the learning process a breeze. Reason is about as complicated as a software can get and it was amazing how simple your tutorial makes the whole thing look and feel. The support team at macProVideo is also very helpful, customer satisfaction, 5 stars!
The Pros: The audio quality of the video is good, with a very clear and suitable pace for me, an Asian. The rooms of improvement: if the reason files demonstrated in the video can be downloaded, it would be a better help. Then I can follow the actions of the video to practice. I would very much appreciate if MacProvide.com can add these files in the packing of purchasing these videos. Overall I enjoy learning through the video.
For me it was very easy to follow along and understand. The tone of Paul's voice and the way he explains what he is doing, why he is doing it and what the result will sound like like is excellent. It's amazing what you can pick up in just a minute or two! I look forward to other reviews of products that I use as well.
Concise, informative, clean, good voice work, this is only my second tutorial from mac pro and i have found them to be highly useful. Beats youtube , which is a good source but is never as professional or orderly relavent. The only problem i found in this one is when the menu screen comes on before a chapter plays, the duration of that certain lesson is always at 0:00 and its jumbled up over the description of the content of that lesson. Besides that my reason tutorial has been impeccable. Thank you.
I thought it was a GREAT Tutorial. Garay has a real gift for making things real. My only one thing I would have like to see is how it works with Garageband. That is my primary program and I wanted more information on the two programs together
A good overview off all the basics necessary to work within Reason.
Very usefull tutorial. The teacher talks very understandable and is interesting to listen to.
I had to learn Reason 3 quickly. Since I already own three other MacPro Videos, this Reason 101 was my one and only choice for a fast education. I was not disapointed. Paul is easy to understand and a great teacher. My only complaint is that the pause between lessons is too long. Some lessons are only a minute or two, and the pause in between is distracting.
Its the joint! I was"nt to sure about reason until i watchd the tutorial and it opened my eyes to a whole nother world.
On some of the video's the instructor goes to fast when their is a lot of material to cover and you get lost trying to follow.
Unfortunately, I was unable to view much more than the first 5 tutorials of the 90 or so available. There is some sort of problem with my Windows Vista, video card, and quicktime. I can only watch a tutorial for about 10 seconds before NED crashes. So, it took me about 50 trys to view most of the first 5 tutorials. What I saw was excellent, but incompatibility with my laptop makes the great tutorial useless.
I finally got my reason tutorial from MacProVideo and watched it. I can't believe I waited so long to get it. I previously received a tutorial from "Propellerhead" on Reason but it was not as clear and consise as yours. I was doing so many things wrong and ended up wasting a lot of time and effort. I watched your video and immediately I began to see progress. I especially liked the fact that the instructor explained in great detail about the setup of the computer and how its supposed to be connected and configured. You have no idea how many times I had to call about this one thing. Since I'm a newbie I wasnt familiar with some of the lingo. The book proved to be a big waste of time for me. The instructor was very easy to understand. I had no problem completing the tasks as demonstrated on the video, I have watched it a few times and am extremely thrilled with the program...its a lot of fun. I hope to be able to master these tools soon....this is my goal....thanks MacProVideo, you saved me once again. I'm going to be an expert in no time. I can't wait to get more tutorials from you guys....I have never learned so fast before. Thanks again
paul is a great teacher! very concise and right into the points. i'm also learning the signal flow in a super clear manner. thanks a lot! the only thing i don't like with this tutorial is that the break between each individual clip is too long, the screen of running time will be loaded twice. no need and waste lots of time. the instruction is fantastic!
Just started working througn it...and so far it is terrific! I wish there was more info about live performance usage and techniques.
i can say from my heart this is the best tutorial on the web. i got ton of tutorial on reason, but i never had the complete tutorial.if this reason 101 were around 2 year ago i would be a master,i really feel for the first time i no somthing about reason. if you are just thinking about getting reason get 101 first. this is Melvin Blair from TAMPA FL. AND THIS IS FOR REAL
Excellent. Paul explains things clearly and is very easy to understand and follow. Great job!
I just completed Mastering Reason and I must say that I am very impressed with both the quality and content in this training. I am a frequent user of all sorts of video training and this is some of the best I have ever seen! I like the short lessons, it makes it easy to watch a few and come back to it hours or even days later without feeling lost. The intreface is simple and intuitive. It was very easy to find what I wanted when I wanted it. I can't wait for the next Reason training you release this one is outstanding!
This is a terrific REASON tutorial, kudos to Paul, concise, informative and engaging to help anyone get started and beyond. N.E.D. is certainly a step forward so a big round of applause to all involved. As usual, your videos are a cut above the rest!!
I recently downloaded your excellent tutorial for Reason. I must say having ordered video tutorials from other companies and experiencing boredom or complete confusion, this is by far the best tutorials I've seen on Reason. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
