On the whole, this is a very solid tutorial. It is decently long, and it covers many of the notoriously trickier parts of mixing. My only issue with the tutorial is that the project utilizes plugins that are not native to Logic, and in some cases are very expensive, professional grade plugins. It seems a little counter-intuitive to me to have a tutorial product using resources that may be well beyond those available to someone needing a tutorial.

This could have been mitigated somewhat if the plugins used were explained a little bit better, to perhaps give the user a clue into how to emulate some of those effects.

But it is still a very solid tutorial, with good information, tips, tricks and valuable bits of insight into the mixing process.

Generally it's a good video aimed at beginners. One big let down is the absence of a lead vocal track, which is the most important thing in all most every genre. I was hoping for a video with some more tricks for the more experienced mixer, but maybe there's a volume 2 on the way ? :-) If you're just starting out mixing, this is a good video for you.

Really, really enjoyed this video. David is so knowledgeable, patient in his delivery, and he just sounds like a really nice guy. I've been producing and mixing for quite some time, but wanted to get a sense of what tools are available in Logic to help me, particularly in the R&B context. This was a great introduction to Logic-particular techniques and tools, and I certainly learned some great little general mixing tricks from David as well. The video is good for beginners and experienced mixers as well, and that's not easy to do.

I liked the tutorial very much. The trainer is great! I would be however 100 % satisfied if he broadened his explanations to general theories or things to keep in mind when mixing R&B.He seemed to be a bit too focussed on that one song.

I am giving this tutorial a 4 because there can always be improvement on anything. I found the mixing r&b tutorial to be one of the best tutorials from MacProVideo thus far. I believe this tutorial can give the viewer a nice mind full of useful and productive tips as well as gained mixing knowledge. I believe the user should have stayed entirely in the environment of logic studio however, and not used 3rd party plugs as a user may not have other plugs and would be thrown off by the results gained...and after all it is a Logic Video. Ohter than that Kudos. NOW GET TO WORK ON THAT KONTAKT 3 VIDEO, and also that CAMEL AUDIO ALCHEMY VIDEO lol

This tutorial was amazing. Even if I'm French, David spoke slowly, I enjoyed this useful video.

Description

R&B is a soulful genre, and there's few people with more soul than David Isaac. David has spent decades Engineering and Producing for many of the world's biggest R&B artists, including Luther Vandross, Marcus Miller, Michael Jackson, and many, many more A-List performers.

In this 3 hour tutorial video, you'll learn deep secrets about the art of mixing while benefiting from the years of experience that David brings to the table. Topics like radio-ready vocal treatments, EQ'ing rhodes & bass, and mixing your drums to create space, depth, and dimension, are all covered hear.

But the best part of this tutorial is the inside tips and knowledge that David drops along the way. Listening to a veteran of the Motown scene describe why certain mix concepts have come to be is like taking a history lesson in the theory of R&B. If you want your songs to sound like the music on the radio, this tutorial is the best possible place for you to start.
