“ I found this tutorial very good. I think that the level is well pitched towards the beginner. I like the style of the presentation. I will be investing in the next level up once I have had a change to digest content of this tutorial. ”

“ For the price, this stuff is superb. I have gained so much from these videos. I thought about saying they are a bit slow and padded out a tiny bit, but pretend I didn't because they are not at all... I'm going through all my videos for a third time now so it all sinks in. Keep it up guys and I'll keep buying. ”

“ Well I've finally finished (long story - dead processor, whooping cough, laziness etc.) and have to say it's great. It's so much easier to follow than reading a (nearly 1,000 page) manual. I will try to read the manual but not right now. Martin does a great job. Mind you, I cheated by getting a 2nd monitor so I could have the tutorial running on one screen while I ran Logic in the other. I've got a bunch of the other tutorials and can't wait to get to them (might make some music first though).
Thanks MPV ”

“ This is a really good tutorial. This is my first NED tutorial and I really like them. I like that they reside on my hard drive instead of having to access the web. That way you can learn while you're traveling - like a book. Anyway great job! ”

“ I found Logic 101 tutorial very useful and handy. It gave full overview of basic Logic features. MUST HAVE! ”

“ This has been the best tutorial I've ever seen. Martin Sitter is a very talented teacher.. The method of building a song form a to z is the best way to get to know a program and keep the student pretty interested. U must keep this method... ”
Logic 101: Core Logic 8Nov 1st, 2008 by dave Cox
“ This is better than the Ableton courses you have online because it shows you how to make a tune from a-z rather than point out all the features of the program alone.

“ I purchased Logic 8 a few months ago after using Garage Band for several months and also Cubase LE for just recording needs. I wanted to take my knowledge of Logic 8 to the next level and the Logic 101 video exceeded my expectations. I really liked the layout of the material and found everything really easy to follow. Also was really liked seeing a song getting built throughout course and use of the various functionality in the lessons added to the song. Great job Martin! ”

“ Really good tutorial for all the people starting working with Logic. Perhaps the author could have spent a bit more time on the song arrangement aspects in Logic. I hope a futur macprovideo tutorial will cover this subject in more details.
Best Regards.

“ I have not seen the whole video. I would like to congratulate Martin Sitter on the wonderful work. The tutorial video are clear, objective and easy to understand. I would just like to see more about how the DSP inside Logic works.
All the best ”

“ I have almost all your logic tutorials and they are great. My background is not using computers to record and such so when I first got into it it was a challenge but this particular one logic core 8 has been great. One comment how come you never used external midi in the video? You also didn't talk about bouncing external midi just something to keep in mind,Thank You for a great product.TT ”

“ Logic is not easy if you've not used a recording application before. I was pretty clueless when I first sat down with Logic Express, even with over 35 years of experience as a musician -- 23 of them as a gigging and recording professional --, two engineering degrees with 20 years of software development experience, and prior experience (some time ago) with MIDI recording on my old Mac. For all the testimonials I read regarding how "easy" it is to get started with Logic Express, I found the sheer number of concepts and new language to learn very daunting. My goal has been to get started as quickly as possible and figure out the nitty gritty details later, but the huge PDF manuals that come with Logic became a pretty effective deterrent to that approach. The next plan was to find a consultant who could come to my home and spend a couple of hours to get my system up an running and to help me develop a work flow on it. I found someone, but have yet to actually hook it up with him. Enter Logic 101, my resident consultant. It provides exactly the tutorial I needed. The step-by-step approach is extremely effective, and the bite-sized sections are easy to find and review again later. The narrator is very good, and really knows his way around Logic. If you miss something the first time, you can just rewind the video and check it out again. Tech support was extremely responsive when I had questions about NED 2. I'm looking forward to checking out the further programs available from macprovideo after I get going. Keep up the good work! ”

“ So far, I've been enjoying the video. My only criticism is that some of it moves kind of fast. And what I would describe as the "asides" ("while we're at it, let me show you how to open the ________ from the keyboard shortcut") can be a bit distracting.
I'm pretty much a total novice with this stuff and decided to plunge in and try to learn Logic rather than a simpler program like Garage Band. So I could probably be considered a remedial student as far as this stuff goes.

“ I have learnt more in two days with the tutorials than a month of books and manuals. I have Logic running with the tutorial and skip between the two. I am gradually finding a intuitive method of working and the tutorial's are informative and fun, yes actually fun. ”

“ Alright, I can't keep my thoughts closed up any more. This tutorial is magnificent - stupendous - exciting - uncontrolable - creativity - bouncing - from - here - to - the - next - galaxies. I needed to learn Logic and this tutorial put me on the path of enlightenment. Everything to satisfy my learning desire was placed on this tutorial. This is the best tutorial that i have ever come across, period. ”

“ I have to say I'm absolutely over the moon with this tutorial. I'd heard good things but... WOW.
Not only is the information accurate, really easy to follow, very very useful, etc, but the videos are also incredibly engaging. Martin has a way of making me WANT to watch the videos again and again, they're really engrossing!
Highly, highly, highly recommended stuff and an absolute steal at the price. ”
Logic 101: Core Logic 8Oct 6th, 2008 by Mark Base
“ This is great stuff.
I'd purchased Logic Pro 8 months ago, and was hoping that it would be easy to use. I hadn't had much spare time to focus on trying to learn how to use it (and the 1,000-page manual was incredibly daunting), but I did actually work out how to lay down a rhythm guitar track, with much trial and error.
I searched locally for any courses that might be available to get to know the software better, but I currently live in a small city in the south of Sweden, and there's nothing around. Even if there was, there's a good chance that it would be in Swedish (and mine's not brilliant).
This tutorial was a godsend.
I'm watching the whole thing once, then I'm going to go through it once more, this time with a pen and paper to write down the little important shortcuts and tips that are highlighted throughout - very handy stuff.
I suppose my only "criticism" would be that some (very few) bits are covered a little bit too quickly, so it can be a tad difficult to follow them; you're not always sure as to what Martin "just did", and you could get distracted momentarily.
On the other hand, I think that this should only encourage you to take the initiative to experiment a bit, to try to recreate the bits you think you've missed.
At first, I thought that the little plug about AudioBase.com was a bit cheeky, but - dammit - the loop he selected from there as an example was just too cool. I may have to buy some stuff from there now anyway. Shame on you, Martin. ;o)
So, all in all, I think a 4 out of 5 is definitely fair. Its only imperfection is the speed at which a couple of things are covered. But hey, just scroll through them another one or two times, open up Logic Pro, and give it a go yourself!
Well done. ”

“ This is a very comprehensive tutorial. anyone just starting with Logic will find it extremely helpful. I learned a great deal from watching this video. Being vision impaired and seeing everything up close instead of sitting in a large group in a classroom means it's easier to grasp the concepts being taught. I can learn at my own pace and sop to review things whenever i want. Great stuff! ”

“ Dear Martin,
The tutorials are very educational and informative. I teach a Logic Pro 8 course at Columbia College Chicago. My students and myself enjoy your sense of humor you display in your tutorials. It really confirms that you had fun producing the tutorials.
I use the tutorials as part of my instructional procedure. The tutorials work better for my class versus the book. I explained to my class that you wrote the Logic Pro 7 training series for Apple. I will be purchasing more tutorials in the near future. Keep up the extraordinary work. MacProVideo.com rocks!
Best,

“ I have only completed up to lesson 40 & of course, will have to review as I go along.
The teacher is fine except 1)he sometimes
uses terms too quickly or terms that he expects the student to know without explanation(amplitude for one.)I have to
stop the lesson and replay until Ican figure
out the word he used.(He has a slight accent)or go to a glossary or dictionary to get the meaning of the new term.
I would also not take so much time in the
beginning on sound theory.I am going to use a microphone a lot recording with
software instrument backgrounds and
This important "studio" function is only addressed lightly and late on the CD
(perhaps it is covered thoroughly on the second disc of lessons)One last thing.
He performs certain changes really rapidly and I do not catch what he did.
I have to go to my Apple book on Logic to see what he selected or clicked.
Even with these reservations I am still going to buy the second set of lessons.
Question-Is there an EMail where we can ask a question?

“ Great tutorial. Takes you through all you need to know to get you up and running with Logic Pro. Very thorough and systematic. Almost like having your own personal teacher on call 24/7.
Note on N.E.D. 2.0: This program is still kinda buggy, most noteably it displays the "Black Hole Syndrome", where the video just disappears, and you're left with audio only. Downgrading to N.E.D. 1 solved the problem. ”

“ I wish I had discovered macprovideo.com a year ago! This video is light years away from a dry, techie training manual. The pace is just right, the explanations super clear and the hints and tips invaluable. I plan to watch all the Logic videos and am very excited about how they will open up doors to me - fabulous, thank you! ”

“ everyone likes different things for different reasons... some of this I found useful, but some too slow, which I found to be a bit frustrating at times... in this type of medium, please remember that I DO have access to a re-wind button, so feel free to STUFF each segment full of useful info...! I can always go back if I missed something... I need to know where stuff is in the program, not a basics tutorial on DAWS in general.. for what I mean, please look again at the Ableton Live vids.. I've only checked out the freebies, but was very pleased with the pacing and amount of actual data and technique in each segment... no filler!! I'm giving this a 3, but would rather say 3 1//2... ”

“ This tutorial was awesome and I mean that. Although I am/was a Protools/Dig Performer guy, there is a ton of stuff in Logic and the tutorial walks you thru step by step. It's great and i am looking forward to picking up a few more once I get a grip on the basics. Good job man

“ This was not the first one I purchased from MacProVideo. I actually bought bunch more advanced topics first thinking that I could figure out the rest of LP8, then I've realized that there are some basic stuff that I didn't know about. I now feel I got down how to make the LP8 production workflow as how it was meant to be. You might think you know LP8, but you could have been wasting a lot of time re-inventing your own ill-defined workflow. We musicians all know that we need to get the basics down to play and same here. If you are starting out, definitely start here. You will become a seasoned pro-driver in no time!

“ The interfase is clear and the so the explanations. this has all the contents of a good printed manual but with the advantages of not having to read 500 pages (in 3 weeks you can learn what would take 4 months).
just two things I dont like so much:
1.doing the dowload is a bit complicated.
2. the song used for the tutorial is really a demo song, I mean, I would have prefered something more real and rock oriented. ”

“ I would like to apologise for the delay in providing you with any kind of feedback. I have a number of your tutorials based mainly round Logic and must say how impressed I am with the quality of the information and presentation. Of course, there will always be subjects which we feel could be covered in more depth, but that is just a personal thing and your overall coverage is outstanding. I must say that Steve Horelick is very impressive with his natural approach and attention to detail even when he is over the top. But all in all you have a great team who take imparting knowledge to new levels!
And the introduction of Ned 2 with its ease of access is another high point.
So to sum up, it’s a wonderful system that has helped me learn a great deal about a complicated technology...thanks!!!

“ It is exactly what I have been looking for, and it goes even further: thanks for the sound explanations (wave forms, frequencies, etc.) Even for a non native speaker (I'm French) it's a pleasure to follow this training course. If I had to find something to improve, I would suggest to get rid of the title page at every beginning of a chapter, it's making the vidéo longer when you play it continuously.
Thanks !

“ I'm devouring MacProVideo tutorials at a rate of knots so look out you producers out there! The latest one I'm working my way through is the excelent Logic Pro 8 101 by Martin Sitter.
Firstly, I have to admit, I just like the way these tutorials work. I tried working my way through the Logic manuals, believe me I tried! The problem for me was it felt like homework and I felt alone. I like working with people and exploring my creativity alongside someone else's creativity. Making music just is that way, so the idea of spending hours and hours alone with text books didn't really appeal to me.
Anyway, enough about schoolbooks!
This tutorial neatly takes you through some of Logic's heartland. It shows you just how you might approach creating a new song from start to finish. Along the way it touches on the nature of sound itself, amplitude and sound reproduction, waveforms, song construction, midi, regions (and folders, something I hadn't even heard of), bouncing, recording, instrument layering, automation and finally a section on tips and tricks to help sparkle up your mix!
I am enjoying the tutorial and it has helped me find out more about Logic. I found it useful to see an actual song being constructed, developed and then mixed, it made it real. Logic is opening up to me and most of all I'm enjoying it!

“ I'm a very visual/hands on person. I absorb information much better in an interactive platform. So far Mac Pro Video has been exactly what the doctor ordered in helping me understand much more about the program than even the users manual. Things I didn't know were accessable to me to get a better understanding and use of the editing process in the program. I've had the software for a short time and have studied about 25 or so of the lessons and I'm becoming much more confident using the program with the knowledge I've acquired with Mac Pro Video. If the info ahead of me in Logic Pro 8 101 continues to simplify using Logic Pro for me then I will certainly purchase more of Mac Pro Video tutorials and recommend them to others. So for now it's two thumbs up! ”

“ I've been a musician for around 15 years and have done a lot of recording. I bought Logic because I was very impressed with recordings I had been hearing that were done fully in Logic so I decided not to waste any more money on studio time and record myself. This is a fantastic tutorial. It got me past the basics and into recording almost immediately. It would have taken me slow months to figure out things I learned in half an hour. Great price! Well worth it. I docked it a star simply because I found some things repetitive and I found it a little slow at other times but don't let this put you off, thats just my opinion and it really is worth the purchase. ”

“ Almost finishing this one. Quality wise it is a great product, my logic pro learning curve changed from hard (reading the manuals) to really easy. Technically wise it is a great product too but i'll say a 4.5 out of 5 because the screen on the N.E.D is a little to small. Also, when a music track is playing and the instructor talks at the same time it is kinda strange. I truly believe this is the future for educational purposes, videos are replacing books. I recommend this product to anyone who wants to learn logic fast.

“ Logic Pro 8 101 is bursting at the seams with all kinds of foundational information that I didn't expect when I bought it. It's not simply an overview of Logic—it covers tons of other things that everyone who records sound needs to know. It really filled a lot of the holes I had in my understanding of basic sound and song construction, plus the video is split up into well titled sections that make going back and finding anything in the tutorial a total breeze. ”

“ I have spent a lot of money in books and videos on cd for Logic and I was always disappointed with the look and feel of the materials and with the relevance.
These macPro videos have a superior production quality to anything else I have seen and I can not put in to words how great these Logic courses are. You all have really done a great job and your site will be my first stop from now on when searching for learning materials. ”

“ I think your tutorial is great as it showed me a lot of usable shortcuts to save me time on learning the functions of the program and more time playing and capturing my music. It greatly reduced the frustration of trying to learn the program through the operator's manual and is easily accessible when I need to review a specific function. I would definitely recommended this product as it systematically takes you to a competent level in a very short period. ”

“ I found this to be worth every penny. And I find myself using it now more like a video manual.
When I first purchased this tutorial it had a different name and it was very deceiving "Mastering Logic 8" but it was more an over view because it did not go as in-depth as I felt it could on alot of things that sets Logic 8 apart for other DAWs. For instance, the Logic Environment, Plugins with in the version 8 and mastering with Logic 8. Now I would think that the rebuttal to my statement would be that some of these things are brushed in TNT and older Logic 7 tutorials. But I would say first 7 though similar is not 8 and there are is a different look and feel. I switched from Protools and Nuendo to Logic 8 with no introduction to the new DAW. I want to learn all current realities of the new DAW and plugins not old.
Where I feel it could have been better in that area
But to your credit again it was highly useful for me in hurrying me through the Quick Start Manual ”

“ Very nice tutorial. If you want to have a good overview of logic and understand a bit more the different fonctions go for it! The only thing I can say is that it would have been nice if Martin could have spent a bit more time about editing in logic. However it's a nice one to start! ”

“ I was not thrilled with the order in which topics were discussed on this tutorial. Also, there could have been a bit more time or detail taken with the audio recording and set-up segments. The MIDI segments could also have been more detailed. I generally don't think enough consideration was taken for absolutely "first time" users of Logic or any type of digital recording set up; much is assumed. What is there is presented clearly, accurately, and for the most part effectively. I would not hesitate to purchase a tutorial such as this again, but I would be prepared to look for certain answers and explanations elsewhere. ”

“ I wouldn't waste time writing this if I weren't actually thankful for this terrififc work. The price to benefit ratio is enourmously in the favor of the buyer. I'll get more value out of Logic pro now than I ever would have otherwise. That's the point! Worth every penny. ”

“ this tutorial contained good information but I felt that its focus on the details of building individual voicings slighted the topics of most importance to me. I would have preferred a focus on sequencing, building up beats in different song sections, saving sectioned beats out to midi, stuff like that. That material was present, but I had to skip all the way to the end to get to it.. other than that the material was accurate and solid; I just personally would have preferred a focus more on the things of importance to my operational needs - building up beats, compositing them into song sections, saving them out, that kind of stuff. ”

“ Great videos! I like the fact that each segment is short and well categorised in the menu.
Would really appreciate the cd/dvd burning function for pc. Also - I get a message when starting up on pc that a file hasn't downloaded fully when they all have!
I also get an error message as the NED tries to auto update. Otherwise Brilliant! ”
