DVD Studio Pro 101: Mastering DVD Studio Pro
Jun 17th, 2008 by Kurt Wenner
The tutorials are very good. I get a fast overview how the program works and then I can go deeper and lern moore.
Nice!

The pling-e-ling song in the start of a part in 101 Mastering DVD Studio Pro are a bit frustrating.
Best Regards
Kurt

This is a GREAT set of tutorials. Clear, well organized, concise. I had to deliver a short DVD to a client and needed to get up to speed in a very short timeframe. Actually went through the tutorial as I was also applying the lessons to the project. The tutorials got me up to speed quickly and I was able to meet my deadlines and budget!

Hello,
I'm happy with my purchase. The price is good and the player works well.
Something that most DVD tutorials could probably improve on is the subject detail of their indexes. As with all manuals, the quality of the index has direct bearing on how effectively the relevant information can be located. DVD tutorials do tend to require immersion in the whole package to learn details not necessarily apparent from the index.

Really excellent! This tutorial untangles the mysteries of DVD Studio Pro. It was very clear and concise, highly recommended.

Is a great way to develop knowledge on DVD Studio Pro, that sin does not exist in Italian!
A word of advice: make a version in Italian

DVDSP has tons of options and can be configured for many striking chapters, buttons, and effects. Mac Pro Video helps sort out all of these options with clear descriptions of each one. I highly recommended MPV tutorials. I especially like them because they are a video tutorial, it is much easier for me to understand a video than read an instruction manual.

I have not gone through this DVD fully, in fact have looked only at some lessons.

However, I can immediately see that Martin Sitter's approach is very fresh and crystal clear. He neither is condescending nor prone to too much hand holding.

I happened to randomly pick his explanation of square and rectangle pixel lesson in the DVD and immediately discovered why I had been doing it wrong all this time. Superbly clear explanation. I am excited and looking forward to the rest. Keep it up.

I also think your NED is a master stroke. It makes downloading tutorials such a snap...as opposed to snapping you trying to get the downloads organized.

I am very impressed with your approach to tutorials.

I have paid for the In Production Motion 3 as well and cannot wait to get my hands or rather my mouse on it. It is due March 13 per your web site.

The product is organized and demonstrated good mastery of content, supporting detail on MPEG structure was fascinating and coverage of some advanced features was useful. Detailed coverage of aspect ratio preservation. Got me quickly started making manual overlays just as I had hoped.

Quick start download and play was factor that lead me to purchase but also has the ill effect of having the course divided into to many far too short segments, each with their own head and tail bumpers and annoying intro "music." Very, very annoying after a while. However, the proprietary player worked fine and the integrated optional course navigation outline works fine.

Production: Some onscreen typos and minor un-corrected flubs. Examples are more than adequate to demonstrate the lessons, though a bit ugly. Not a big deal. Even with high res QT playback I would have liked the zooms and highlighted areas used in some QT based training products--when done right they aid with the quick focusing on the area in question and demonstrate detail oriented post production.

Solid product. Convenient download. Instructor has deep knowledge, explains clearly and shows potential traps and pitfalls--very useful, that.

These tutorials are very concise, intelligently laid out and easy to use.
When you are done you will have control of the program with no "holes" in your knowledge.

Easy to use and GREAT!

I've had DVD SP for quite some time, but iDVD has always been adequate for my needs, and it doesn't come with a 600 page manual.

So last week, I finished a project, burned the discs, was going to take them to the client to view, but obviously double checked them first. The audio was out of sync. I was also going to be away from my desk for a week before I could really attempt to fix it. With no guarantee that there was a fix through iDVD, I decided to take a look at DVD SP.

A quick flick through the manual and a quick look at the interface told me that I wasn't going to learn this in a month, let alone get some results in a week. Couldn't find the Apple tutorials, so decided to look for (free) advice online. I came accross the MacProVideo tutorials, and being roughly the same cost as a book, decided to take a gamble.

Less than a week later, and only about 4 hours hands on, I've got my project finished. It's two discs, with 1 hour 20 minutes on each, with a main menu and 5 chapter menus for each disc too.

Things like turning off the automatic button ordering were a lifesaver. I also liked that it went straight in to the real DVD SP view, not the "use this view if you're coming from iDVD" view. Because of the complexity / flexibility, I think this is absolutely the right thing to do.

There is a lot of valuable repetition in the lessons. When learning about a new area, because all actions are described, common actions are reinforced.

I learn much faster/better from being shown rather than reading a book. If that's the way you learn too, and you're scared by the Pro interface and depth of DVD SP, then I can highly recommend this course.

Just a quick line to say how useful I'm finding your DVD Studio Pro tutorial. I really wasn't looking forward to ploughing through the manual and classroom books. I'll definately be back to buy some more :o)

PS. And they're far more affordable and user-freindly than Total Training DVDs.

I'm an editor in the process of getting my FCP5 certification and I bought your “FCP5 complete” tutorials in order to get a re-fresher before
taking the exam. On the strength of the online tutorials I have now bought FCP,Motion and DVD Pro downloads.

What I like most of all is that you put in lots of tips that none of the other company's training DVDs appear to mention. Also the footage that’s used is easy on the eye. The picture is clear and the pace is very well judged with elements repeated slightly differently so that the viewers attention is held whilst the information being passed on is reinforced.

I now wanted to use DVD studio Pro to author a DVD, but I did not want to by your DVD Studio Pro 3 book wanting to wait for the version 4 book. I thus decided to buy your DVD Studio Pro 101 Mastering DVD Studio Pro.

Using that tutorial enabled me to produce a DVD fast and efficiently with great layout and use of the menus fast and effeciently. Best of all I didn´t have to watch all 5 tutorial as I found the things I need to know about in the first 3 tutorials.

Your toturials has helped me finishing my chrismas gifts before time and for that I say thank you.

You've made some excellent tutorials that helped me and many others in mastering our beloved Apple app's. I am very pleased I've come accross your web site and purchased couple of your learning items. I also have book DVDSP 2 of yours. Hopefully in a future there will be some more tutorials coming from you.

The tutorials were superbly put together and struck just the right tone - not too complicated and not at all condescending.

One of the best purchases I have made in the past 12 months. My new found DVD SP 3 skills will now be used in producing a brand new DVD based magazine, called DUAT (ancient mysteries & alternative history) - first issue out on August 1st.
