Being a great lover is a complex and rare combination of passion and spontaneity that just creates sparks. It's all about the chemistry between the two individuals and what they do to keep the surprises coming.
So, how in the world could Mavericks help you be a better lover? Well, first off, it's not that Mavericks on its own will make you a better lover. You'll have to do your own work and add your own spice, but there are a number of tools that can certainly help:
Maps showing a driving path with a store highlighted.
Every day on your way home, after work, you drive by this little store that you just know it must have that perfect little present for your partner. But as always, you never get the chance to stop by to browse the store. Hey, you're not even sure at what time they close. Well, open up the Maps app and follow your own footsteps to locate the store, click on it in the Maps app and get their contact info. Check out their website, look up their opening hours, and browse their online store to get an idea. Tomorrow, on your way home, now you'll stop at the store to pickup that little gift that just says "I thought of you".
Calendar showing location of a restaurant with all the Yelp info.
Ok, so now that you learnt how you can discover businesses and stores around you, use the Maps app to search for that nice secluded restaurant you've heard so much about. Find their location, directions, website and ratings from the Maps app and call to make a reservation. As soon as you get the reservation details open Calendar and set in the date, including the travel time. Don't forget to add a couple of alerts a few days ahead and combine those with that little detail you got.
Menu bar or System Preferences showing Apple TV as an extended desktop.
We all love revisiting sweet memories, specially of those events that you shared with your lover. Chances are that you have some great photos of you and the love of your life. Well, here's an idea. Pop some of those photos, maybe from your last little escape that was oh, so sensual, and make an iPhoto album. Then, when your partner is least expecting it, take over your Apple TV and HDTV and use it as an extended desktop for your Mac. Take the iPhoto album and play it as a full screen slide show on the big screen. To make things more romantic play it with that sensual tune your partner loves. Now, following my first tip of getting a little something, this could be a good opportunity to bring up the surprise gift. Another idea would be to have the slideshow playing as you share a homemade diner. **Note: This tip may backfire if yours is a secret lover! In that case, avoid the photos all together!
Messages app with some sweet text.
One of the things that makes relationships fun is the variety and the unplanned moments. Halfway through your day, just out of the blue, maybe in between meetings, fire the Messages app and send your partner a quick love note. Here are some ideas:
**Note: DO NOT do what Anthony Weiner did!
A variation of the above tip is to make a quick FaceTime call to your lover instead of just a quick iMessage.
Calendar event showing repeat every year with message alert 10 and 5 days before - in iCloud calendar.
We've all been there. A super important date, like your anniversary, arrives and you totally forgot. Ooops! Not good! What better way to keep brownie points count high than to be on top of all important and even the not so important dates, like your sister's in-law birthday? Your Mac with Mavericks to the rescue! Open the Calendar app and not only mark these important dates as events, but even create a totally separate calendar just for important dates. Now, fill it up with every event that happens periodically like your anniversary. For the super important ones, set the events to trigger a message a few days in advance, so that you can implement any of the other tips mentioned above. Now, to make sure you don't loose any of the event messages (alerts) move the calendar to iCloud so it syncs up with your iPhone.
Mavericks can help you be a better lover if you focus on the little details that make that relationship oh, so special. The great news is that the tools are there, but you do need to act on them and add your own personality and creativity.
