There’s lot to like about Arpeggio from Tangible Instruments. It’s on Kickstarter and is over half funded with 15 days still to go…
For starers Arpeggio is focused on letting you easily create, save, and perform melodies. They expanded on the concept of the traditional arpeggiator we’ve seen in many a synth by creating a new musical instrument “designed to give you the freedom to create melodies with nuance and distinction.”
Then there’s “unlimited” notes you can use in a sequence and you can add rests and “adjust note lengths, tempo, octave, portamento, and swing.” Plus you’ve got 512 memory banks to save you patterns into which can be chained together for some complex arpeggiating craziness.
Another stand out feature (some might not agree with me) is that there’s no screen or menu system to navigate. What?? No multi-touch, 4K screen…?? How can you possibly make music without one! Well, the idea is that the interface is so simple you don’t need one!
We did indeed. It’s a 2-oscillator virtual analog synth with a built-in speaker. It’s battery powered, which make it super portable. Oh, and don’t forget the connectivity… USB, bluetooth, MIDI in/out and CV gate out. In short you can sync it to other analog gear or to control music hardware and software. Yes, it’s an impressive MIDI controller folks.
As of now, the lowest price for Arpeggio is $179 with a delivery date set at April 2016.
