Watch Shigeto on Creating Unique Sounds With Simple Setups
Rounik Sethi on Mon, June 15th 0 comments
Electronic Beats TV goes behind the scenes with Shigeto (Zach Saginaw) to look at how he sets up his unique drum based-tech music shows, his creative motivation, gear setup and his music philosophy.

EB essentially nail it when they describe how Zach's music is 'blurring the lines between jazz, beats and instrumental hip hop.' From a production point of view, he purposefully aims to keep it as simple as possible and wants to play every instrument as if it were a drum. 'So it's always more rhythmically diverse, than melodically.'

His performances are spell binding, even by video, so we'd recommend you check out the video interview (including elements from his performance at Berlin's Gretchen Club) by Electronic Beats TV.

About his approach to keeping things simple, Zach explains that sometimes, 'if I work in Ableton I'll work on something for hours and feel that I don't really get anywhere because there's so much you can do. If I just have a synth, record audio and overdub, it's more pure for me because I come from a playing background.'
