I'm new to this and so far have a Monologue, Behringer audio/midi interface and Behringer monitors--working in LogicX. I'm following the steps but for some reason can't seem to save any tracks... I'm also looking to be able to layer tracks but when I go to a second track, the sound on the first track changes along with it...

Hi Reins! Sounds like you're almost there. So you'll have to RECORD every instance of Monologue using the the "Record Monologue as Audio" step above. It can only generate a single sound at a time. So for example, use external Instrument to play a part, then record with the steps above, then move on to a new part with new MIDI. Mute the original MIDI just in case you need to go back to it after recording.
