One thing that separates the NonLinear Educating Group of websites (Ask.Audio, macProVideo.com, AskVideo.com) from the pack is the fact that we’re run by artists. We’re not a group of disgruntled salesmen from [insert your most visited music retail store here] that decided to sell audio education because they thought they could make big money. Nor are we a multinational corporation that sees students as a commodity. We are artists that live to teach other artists. We practice what we preach … er, sorry … I mean teach.
In my opinion, nothing symbolizes what we are better than our very own Publisher, the man responsible for our incredible Creative Education Library: Steve H.
The video above shows you WHY we do what we do. Music is our lives. Music is our passion. By helping others become better musicians, we help ourselves become better people. We strive to be the best we can be at ALL of these things.
I’ve posted this video because I want you to think about what we are, and also what we mean to you. What is Ask.Audio to you … or macProVideo.com … or AskVideo.com? How have we helped you to become a better artist? Importantly, do you appreciate what we do?
Don’t forget, we can’t do what we do without the support of people like you. The Ask.Audio Academy provides the finances that bring you this site. As an artist yourself, the best way to support us - so we can continue to support you - is to subscribe to The Academy. Above and beyond the lifetime of education it will provide, you can be happy that you are helping to support us, your fellow artists.
Here's how Steve describes how his video and composition for the Mystical Dancing Leaf came about:
"A few years ago, while hiking in the, Shawangunks, I stumbled across something very unusual. There was a leaf, floating in mid-air, dancing as though gravity had been completely suspended. Totally captivated by this seemingly mystical experience, I took out my iPhone and recorded it.
"This composition/improvisation, "The Mystical Dancing Leaf” uses Eurorack modular technology focussing on Mutable instruments Rings, Braids & Clouds along with Sound Machines recordable CV controllers to create a very natural sounding canvas for the live, processed-piano improvisation, inspired by this truly mesmerizing experience."
