Photoshop Tutorials - Informative AND Funny
One of the things I like best about the tutorials we release at macProVideo.com is the fact that I learn so much myself from watching them. For example, I've been using Photoshop for nearly 20 years now, but even still I always glean a trick or two when I watch our photoshop tutorials.
Best of all, I love the humour and the fun that our trainers bring to the table. Our educational system is designed to feel like your best friend is sitting in the studio beside you, teaching you software in an interesting and informal way. Our trainers bring a lot of whit to the table ... and sometimes even an inside joke or two ... let me explain what I mean.
The other day I found myself watching the Photoshop 402: Drawing Objects in Photoshop tutorial. In Chapter 4, the trainer Mark Stope (who also happens to be a good friend of mine) is showing how to work with perspective while mocking up a CD case. He very effectively demonstrates how to use the Transform tool to distort an image and give it depth to fit on a 3D CD case. A great technique to know!
But then I looked at the image he was using. It's a rock star for a band called "Metal Keys." I thought to myself, 'do we have the rights to use that image?!?' I don't recall getting a copyright release from Metal Keys ...
And then I looked a little bit closer ... and hmmm ... I suddenly recognized that rock star. Hmmm indeed ... all I can say is be careful when the cameras come out on Halloween, because you never know where the pictures may turn up. Nice joke Mark ... it took me a while to get that one.
I've included the video from this Photoshop tutorial in this blog post so you can check it out for yourself. As Mark says in the video ... if you recognize who the rock star is, you get 10 bonus points ... :)
