In this digital age, just about everyone and their pets can create digital images. But if you’re interested in creating truly professional-looking and high quality images, you need to understand the basic principles of digital as well as pre-digital photography. Our expert trainer, Matt Vanacoro shows you the way in this introductory course.
He starts by helping you wade through the vast morass of camera types and specifications to choose the best camera for you. Next, since there is no more film or paper involved, you learn about the best ways and formats for storing and managing your digital images.
From there, you “zoom” into the area of Focus modes and systems. Many of the principles you learn here come from the analogue photo world, but are equally applicable in the digital camera realm. The best part, these days, is that many of these functions are often automated for you now!
Next, you explore the three-way interrelationship of Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. Getting a good understanding of how to balance these three, is the key to being able to take great shots every time!
Matt finishes this introductory course by having a look at some additional equipment like special lenses, filters as well as professional flashes that can really take your photography to the next level! You even get a glimpse into Digital Video; one of the newest offspring of this exciting digital era of photography!
So, whether you’re an amateur photographer in the making or an analogue photo enthusiast looking to get a handle on new developments in the digital field, this course has something for you!

An excellent introduction to DSLR photography. Matt goes quite deep but never gets confusing. I really enjoyed it.

My first digital camera was a "point and shopt" Cannon Ixus.
I loved it and shot lots of pics.
Now I own a Fujifilm XT-1 and have learned that it is a lot more to it than p.a.s.
This course put it into perspective.

This guy is just amaaaazing!! Crystal clear explanations.. I love how he approached the different camera features as situational and not just "good' or "bad". It was also really cool that he made parallels between music and photography (as a lot of people are into music here). I'll be finishing this series! Great gig MacPro!!!

I understand better the principles of dslr cameras after watching this course. I can take better photos now, and I guess this is just the beginning.

I'm just now getting a bunch of Nikon gear. This course really nailed the basics of what you must understand, if you want to creatively snap quality pictures. I would have given it 5 stars if the video camera would have been more in focus as he demonstrated the camera screen settings. Mostly out of focus during the course as far as close ups of the camera screen go. But that's a technical gripe and not in any way to bemoan the awesome course is camera basics.

Matt Vanacoro is the man. I started watching this course knowing basically nothing about my camera. It's packed with a wealth of knowledge that's delivered in a way that's easy to understand. Great teacher, great course. I'm no longer scared of my camera.
